Facing the prospect of nuclear war with Russia following a full invasion and annexation of Ukraine, and preparations for an invasion of the Baltic states, France seeks to preserve its culture, and in fact, civilization as we know it, through the creation of a highly advanced fallout shelter. From this fallout shelter and the nuclear war that ensues between Russia and the European Union, a new feudal age is born (with some Fallout flavors thrown in for good measure).

What would be Iberian nations be like? Here’s what I can put:
Catalonia Republic: after the Great War and the fall of Madrid following the nukes, people that survived the war banded together near the Catalonia coast. And since Spain is no more, the catalonians finally independent and have to do their survival by themselves.
Madridian enclave: following the fall of Madrid few governments and citizens of Madrid seek shelter underground into their vaults, its scope is similar to Paris but much less I. Scale and capacity. After centuries of awakening their beloved Spain is no more, multiple tribes compete for territory, the Portuguese petty kingdoms are at Cold War and Catalonia is considered a “successor “ to Spain. Many religious groups within the enclave were inspired the days of reconquista, when their people fought the infidels back to the North Africa, and now preparing our retake back Spain

@@seankellygaller6902 It doesn't really makes sense thought. In the scenario of a total nuclear war were M.A.D. became a really and Spain being one of the targets Madrid wouldn't be the only city targeted by the nukes. The most probable cities to be destroyed in a nuclear attack would be Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao and Zaragoza. Depending on how thoughly the ones that pushed the button wanted Spain to be sent back to the stone age they'll had to also hit Valladolid, Vigo, Toledo, Oviedo, Salamanca, Avila, Valencia and Santander.
And if they even wanted to be even more thorough they'll had to nuke the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. Those last two scenarios are less probable due to the waste of nukes that could be used in otherwise in more important targets.
So if we center ourselfs in just the first and most probable scenario, the regions of Spain that had more chances of survive could be Galicia, Asturies, Cantabria, the Balearic Islands. Perhaps even Castille and León, Murcia, Castille la Mancha, Navarre and La Rioja.
Sadly I have very little doubt that Ceuta, Melilla and the Canary Islands would survive as they would either be targets for the nukes or be annexed by Morocco ASAP.

I imagine amongst all the non involved powers of WW3 Britain suffered the worse. Not prepared with any but the most rudimentary of bunkers and preparations for the radiation and disrupted weather patterns, they suffer greatly, likely fracturing into smaller states similar to the Viking age. Weather they manage to reunite in any way by the time of Metropol's rising is up for debate.
Africa is a mixed bag, North Africa suffers similar to Briton, but everything south of the Sahara after the collapse of global trade system and their internal recovery remain mostly intact. They do as they do war, peace, trade, conquest, holy war, so on and so forth.
America suffers very little the affects of the war contained by the government and any attempts of breaking away dealt with. With China an ocean away all of North America, Central America, and South America fall under complete American control, directly or indirectly.
China suffers more then America, but not by much insulated as they are by the central Asian countries and the mostly unpopulated Siberia. They are in constant competition with the United Pacific Islands, UPI (Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, New Zeeland) and India witch are further insulated from the war by China.
I'm not going to discuss the Middle East. Nope, Niltch, Nada. Just no.

@@jonahstoehr3637 Without the UN condemning Israel every single weak for daring to exist, the nation finally can live normally like any other nation, until the Arabs once again launch missiles at their cities, then the Israeli just occupy them to avoid another 70 years of nonsense, the other Arab countries pretend to care and send strong worded letters, but do nothing about it because they don't really care about that desert with no oil in it (the only place in the Middle East with no oil is Judea), they are much more worried about Iran now that the US is too worried with it's own internal instability to do anything against them, and Russia is gone because of WW3. So basically it's Israel and the majority of the Middle East against Iran and their puppet governments in Iraq, Yemen and maybe a few others, in a conflict that could go either way, depending on how much those nations were affected by the radiation.

With this trade dead, the Persian gulf nations (Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE, Oman) have basically no economy and little organized modern military. Of course Israeli is alone here, one lost war, some bad luck and their done for. This is not counting the radiation and affected weather patterns coming from the fallout zone further damaging everyone in the region.

Most rural towns and small cities would certainly struggle with the climate damage of a nuclear winter, blackouts and radiation going around but would still be doing relatively ok and wouldnt immediately become medieval peasants again. Especially when given 150 years to get power systems and basic infrastructure working again.

And the air and water filled with deadly radiation that is invisible unless they have a Geiger counter? Think about where your food comes from and I don't mean the grocery store. Without power most of the food there will perish within days anyway. But where the majority of food is grown? Is that area naturally arable without the need for artificial fertilizer? Does it require water irrigation and are those irrigation pumps powered by electricity? Are the electric lines from surviving power plants interconnected with major cities that are now a giant hole in the ground. If the food growing region is farther than 200km it will take a week to deliver anything by horse and cart. Are the roads also tied to major cities that are now impassable adding to the journey time. Forget about cars, within a year unused gasoline congeals. Fuel refineries are few in number and likely to be in the targeted cities. And if not is a working oil field nearby? And lastly are you in the 62% of countries that the UN has listed as food import dependent? Bottom line a nuclear exchange, even a limited one will lead to billions dead within a decade. Most through starvation.

It wouldn't be a "Inquisition Empire" since the purpose of the inquisition was to fight against fraud within the Catholic Church, not to persecute infidels like revisionists claim, but to make sure Catholics understood they cannot promote heresy while claiming to follow Rome's directives.

I can see the French going conservative in the event of a nuclear attack. They are like China in that they have long been accustomed to being a centralised, bureaucratic society, & when China gets attacked in wars which devastate its civilian population, it turns to hardline conservative Confucianism. It is also interesting that, for a mediating force to prevent abuse of power, religion has been replaced by a belief that all must fill their respective obligations in order to survive, i.e. Confucianism.
Feudalism occurs when land is a scarce resource, so it would be interesting to see what would happen to it when a huge amount of new land is added in the form of opening up the vault.

Ireland's vault was one of the last to open. I imagine there would be conflict between the People's Republic of Cork to the south, Irish Catholic Theocracy to the west, and Northern Irish Free State fighting over the vault. Scotland and an extremely weakened UK could also get involved.
(Don't take this as a political statement about the isles. It's just an idea for alternate history Ireland.)

This is an amazing scenario and i cant help but think of the metro world with the people having to hide underground to survive, for me its cool to think that metro is the russian perspective of the aftermath of a nuclear war
    Great video by the way!

This is such an interesting scenario. Imagine walking out from a vault, into a world with basically new humans and you need to rediscover the world. New nations, new groups of people, new technology, new way of living.

What would be Iberian nations be like?
    Here’s my lore about Iberia:
The Iberian peninsula, the land of Castille, Umayyads and Moors. This land is full of intrigue and history, however during the Great War when the entire Europe is at war with Russia and its puppets, Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon were heavily bombed by the nukes and Spain and Portugal fell upon that next day… centuries later the peninsula’s environment recovered quickly , due to fewer nukes in the peninsula, and the arable land is abundant enough for population to boom. As they followed the European vault blueprints. Many Iberian people manage to reclaim most of the land.
However due to Madrid and Lisbon were bombed, there is no central government to govern vast swathes of counties, and kingdoms, soon it devolves down to tribalism, many tiny nation vying for control of Iberia. Few of these nation are quite interesting to talked about:
Many religious groups within the enclave were inspired the days of reconquista, when their people fought the infidels back to the North Africa, and now preparing our retake back Spain.
The British Gibraltar Free State: since the fall of Uk during the war, her control over Gibraltar were severed and since they don’t have vaults to hide to… they’re suffered through the baptism of nuclear fire, but the spirit of British Gibraltar cannot be quenched. And in a century later, they’re forced to be reckoned with. As they’ve full access to Mediterranean gateway meaning they have full access to the sea of Mediterranean and the wider Atlantic Ocean. Hope their mother land, Uk is alright.
The land of Iberia is full of intrigue, full of court life, backstabbing, political upheaval and feudalistic Cold War. Blessed with the mountain of Pyrenees, my beloved Metropol is too daunting to reach them out diplomatically and militarily. But as one of the observer of the Iberian Politics it is simply fascinating. What would be tomorrow? Well your guess is good as mine…
