They say that hard times create strong men, so are these current times hard times? And is Gen Z a generation of strong men? It's clear generation z has real struggles, and unique problems unfaced by recent past generations, but gen-z and their challenges need to be explained, because they are not what you think. Is generation-z actually hopeless?

I'm Brazilian... and I follow a Brazilian TH-camr who moved to the United States to study at a university in Florida, one of his main complaints in relation to Americans is that young Americans (in other words, Generation Z from the United States ) are "bizarrely immature", the feeling he (as a foreigner) is of dealing with "children in adult bodies".
His main complaint is that younger Americans appear to have been spoiled too much and that they are alienated and unprepared for the adult world, and apparently this complaint is not just his but that of other immigrants from Latin America and Europe too.
He complained about the lack of dialogue and social interaction among Americans... like... you are very cold compared to us, Latin Americans... I think this goes into Monsieur Z's complaint about the lack of social interaction

If you look at fertility of Gen-Z people are going some of the hardest times in all of human history. If a generation doesn't reproduce, nothing else matters. It is an extinction level event. It doesn't matter if people have phones or can watch movies at the touch of button. All that is irrelevant about how well a generation is doing. Bragging about how many toys we have is the equivalent of fiddling while Rome burned. It would be better to have been born in the Great depression or during the dark ages. Who cares about how many electronic gadgets we have? They don't matter. What matters is if people can take care of their families and raise another generation. If you don't reproduce then you are done. Evolutionary dead end.

I have to push back some on the manual labor low skill or medium skill jobs especially the lower skilled jobs I'm a dairy farmer and we simply cannot get any American citizens to do work like milking cows even for 22 bucks an hour with overtime and you are 60 hours a week so it's actually decent money The reason why is very simple They all go on disability and work a part-time job under the table So they actually end up with more purchasing power and have to work far less. I live in a very poor area in northern New York in the amount of people here that are on disability is absolutely astounding and it all happened after the early '70s when the few manufacturing plants left here about 45% of those people that worked in the factories are now on disability and have been for most of their would have been working lives. They would do the work if it was more respectable and if there was no option for disability I really think we need to seriously tighten up the disability options. I know tons of people that are on disability because they quote have a bad back and they're in their mid-thirties and they have a under the table carpentry business where they're hauling shingles up a ladder and all kinds of other very physical things that you would never be able to do if you're back actually was that bad.

I litteraly wrote this under a video where Asmongold is caling Gen Z lazy and stupid. I'll repost here:
    Its not exactly our fault.
Henry Ford started making cars by disassembling machines and putting them back together. When he had enough practice he started making his own cars.
    Guess what?
Its illegal to disassemble most phones. When you buy them you have to agree to a contract that forbids you from modifying it. Or even repairing it in any store that doesnt belong to the phones parent company.
I cant be Henry Ford becouse im not allowed to be.
And its not just mechanics, the programs too.
At the beggining of computer technology most programs where open source and if you owned it you could modify it, look at its workings etc.
Most programs these days operate as apps, you cant look inside them, you cant access command panels, you cant modify them. And the interactivity is dumbed down.
Its not my fault that the first computer i got was when i was 18, its not my fault that my mom only wanted apple products. Its not my fault that i had an iphone (passed down from my mom when she got a newer one).
I learned to swim at the age of 4 and by the time i was in elementary school i was competing at state level.
    How?
1- there are pools where i live
2- my grandfather knew how to and wanted me to know how to
3- i was taught gradually the basics how to do the movements first, then doing them in the water, then holding my breath, then learning from a proffesional coach, then finnaly competing as a junior athlete.
4 when my grandpa believed i knew enough, he would throw me overboard at the center of the lake.
Imagine if you skip all that and go straight to the lake.
    You would drown.
Gen Z has this situation with computer technology.
To use the swimming analogy, imagine sailing on a boat from before you can remember, but never swimming with your arms and legs. Suddenly you get thrown overboard and as you drown people call you lazy and stupid: "how can you not know how to swim when you spend all the time on a boat?"
And it applies to many other things.

Thus categorisations are what we all (humans) use to understand the world and critisizing someone for using categorisations is pointless.
You can critisize a category for being too broad or too narrow for the issue, but categories themselves are crucial for any talk about society (wich itself is a category).

The isolationism of Gen Z is why Gen Z, more than any other generation alive, is turning to religion, specifically High Church settings (Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, etc.). They want to be part of something bigger than themselves, something that pushes them to be better. Ironically, older Gen Z-ers want a struggle, whether it’s manual labor or, hell, even war. Gen Z romanticizes the overcoming of obstacles (that’s where you say we need more pragmatism to which I agree). Yes, “get the damn thing done.”

Whether they are a city person who is ready to jump the gun to get to a better standard or condition from where they are, or are they trying to build up on what they have and capitalize on their gains. As an older millenial who grew up in the former soviet union i saw an empire crumbling down first hand.
There are many factors involved for declining of an empire but the biggest problem aside from bad leadership is simply apathy of the people who are part of this declining empire.
I don't have the feeling gen Z is apathetic. Quite the opposite Gen Z is rather radical. One of the biggest problems of gen Z is the fact they are a very small generation and they can't overrule the gerotontocracy because they are simply such a small generation.
But as mentioned in the video here radicalisation without the right actions and pragmatism leads to nothing but suffering.
But i still can understand why Gen Z is so furious when it comes to the previous generations especially boomers.

I'm not Gen Z. So forgive me if I am speaking out of line. But here is my take on this.
Gen Z absolutely did get the short end of the stick in the short term. You guys are a small generation in a country where the two largest generations we've ever had (Baby Boomers and Milennials) were older than you and already had a work history by the time the oldest of you was turning 18. I got absolutely fucked when it came to getting gainful employment and I'm "higher on the totem pole" than Gen Z as a virtue of having 15 years of work experience. You guys also got the short end of the stick in that society kind of treated you guys as a social experiment. I was 14 when social media went onto mobile devices. I didn't even have social media until I was 18, almost 19. Some time around 2007, society asked, "What happens when you give 2 year olds the internet?" and called it Gen Z. What we've found out in the 15ish years since they asked that question is that its broadly not good for the mental health of kids to see others at their highest, happiest moments and compare it to the everday experience of your life.
My sympathies to Gen Z for both of these things. These actions were effectively crimes committed against you.
    But here's my thing. All these problems;
being locked out of corporate jobs because of experience requirements on entry-level positions.
    Finding gainful employment in general.
Not being able to provide for a family and having weirdly wishy washy, and sometimes man hating girls as "potential wives"
Being low man on the totem pole in the labor market.
These things all hit me and my generation just as hard or harder than it has hit you guys. It just happened to you guys when you were younger. You guys will almost certainly outlive these not exceedingly bad times. But still not good time. I may not. I was in my teens when this stuff all started to go wrong. You were either under 10 or unborn. You will outlive these not good times. My Gen Z girlfriend will outlive these not good times.
If you are Gen Z. I encourage you. Go get a "dirty" but high paying job. Go succeed. Go get yourself ahead. Go get to the point where socialization is manageable. You CAN do it.

Children focus only on what they want and how they feel. Children do what feels good rather than delaying gratification in favor of more success later. Children gratify themselves rather than sacrificing for others, or for the future. Children wear what's comfy rather than dressing with dignity. Children avoid uncomfortable truths, confrontation, and patience. Children seek to change others, not themselves. Children feel sorry for themselves, justify their own behavior, and blame others for all their problems. This is the childish mindset of two generations of Americans raised my insecure parents.

Work is empty, while a white-collar worker is less exploited then the industrial revolution era blue-collar worker, he is even more alienated from his labour. Stock market is empty, bubble after bubble, borrowing already borrowed money. Life is easier than it used to be, but it's tangebly less 'real'

On one hand I agree with much the advice you give to Gen Z as being sound advice. On the other hand, I haven't heard any of them complain about not being willing to do labor jobs, instead most of them complain about the inability to ever afford to own a home given the current real-estate market and wages of even good jobs.
Given most of the urbans areas (at least in Canada) are charging rent prices that meet or exceed mortgage rates, it does seem fairly accurate to me. My wife and I afforded a house only because my work hands out overtime like candy and so I could spend a few years raking the OT and making over 100k/yr and then add that to my wife's wages. Even then, we only afforded house over condo because we had the support of both of our sets of parents.

    • @wolvenstar10
      @wolvenstar10 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

I am not American, but your neighbor to the north. A lot of the talk of hard times and animosity comes from being able to look at policies and strategies that were instituted by the Baby Boomer generation, with most of the benefits aimed at benefiting them while the costs of said policies fall disproportionately upon the younger generation.
Our increase in yearly immigration from high 100,000s to over 400,000people, the nearly 1million foreign students that are coming to our nation each year for post secondary education. The immigration is to keep the pension program from collapsing and the foreign students are cash cows. Meanwhile it isn't possible to our construction sector to catch to that level of immigration. You assume average family size of 4 and that means that just the immigrants to our nation need 100,000 new homes every year, nevermind what the domestic population needs.
Then trying to apply for loans and you look at how credit scores are determined. How is it that someone can faithfully pay a rent that is equal to or greater than most mortgage payments for years and that counts nothing towards their credit score.

    • @wolvenstar10
      @wolvenstar10 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

Even up here with our public healthcare program, while we don't have a financial burden from it, we have a significant portion of a population that does not have a family doctor. Walk-in clinics, especially in urban settings are stretched thin and we even have ER doctors who write articles in the papers talking about how they face burnout from the sheer number of people coming into the ER that should be going to family doctors for the issue.

    • @wolvenstar10
      @wolvenstar10 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

So the point I am aiming at here, is that this may not be a time of utter ruin for them (or even us millennials), we are not having to rebuilding from the ashes of nothing. What we it though is a time darkness. A time when there is legitimate hardship that has been caused by the mismanagement of a prior generation that was overall...to be blunt....narcissistic. Maybe it is because my wife and I are starting out own family, but my goal (and I thought the goal of every generation) was to attempt to leave the place in a better condition for the next generation than you received it. I don't want to make my children's life softer, but I want to make sure that the conditions they find themselves in are better, and the opportunities plentiful. I do want to be able to provide a better safety net, so if they do fuck up, it won't be that they are screwed for future prospects.

As an elder millennial, i can tell you first hand that everything you said about gen Zs percieved starting point, based on what they were taught about society and the world v what theyve experienced is the exact same thing millennials have experienced.
Ive worked in a very public field for well over a decade now. I know thousands of people and their stories and theres like a social dividing line between life experiences; of those born before and after 1980. Which aligns with the rise of Reagan and the western worlds Neoliberal/globalism takeover, followed by the eastern worlds similar takeover after the wall came down in 89.
Much is policy, like you described in the intro, and props for making that distinction. Most, simply, don't and lump social change into the same category as concerted governmental decision making - which is by design, this mass conflation, as evidenced by all the disgusting theatrics on the hill.
In reality, equal rights for gay and trans people (survivors benefits, adoption, etc), birth control (fundamentally libertarian; womens freedom and autonomy over their own bodies), and the backlash against police brutality = social issues. These things have almost zero effect on your life and your choices. Gay marraige doesn't demean straight marriage, the actions of straight people already do that with the 50%+ dovorce rate. The thing about social issues, is its NOT zero sum. No one loses by raising the floor.
But the moneyed interests, theu offshoring, refusing to reinvest in infrastructure or employee development (shouldering that cost onto the employee by demanding unnecessary degrees) have destroyed the middle class. Right now, in the year of our lord 2024, if you dont annually earn a million dollars, you arent middle class. You are the working poor. To live the quality of life my ww2/Korea vet, sole income, grandfather provided = buying cars for his 4 kids, a car for gma, a sports car for fun, a vacation home, a boat, annual vacations, golfing 3x a week, you need that income.
The gutting of the dollar and the wringing dry of the workers has been brought to us by policy and the bankers. If youre pissed off about the economic outlook of your life, dont blame social issues, blame business for breaking the social contract and politicians for selling us out.
Every president since Reagan has been neo-liberal. Clinton and Obama included. The fight isnt left or right, the fight is UPWARDS.

      So true
The way I see in the generation came before us started from a tough place but was on an upwards trend for 70 yrs
Problem is all the decision they made hinged on everything going upwards
It's like getting credit card on your income and maxing it out every month but now that income is looking shaky and you can't cut your spending

General Patton said of the Russians "We may have been fighting the wrong enemy all along. But while we're here, we should go after the bastards now, 'cause we're gonna have to fight 'em eventually."
Have you ever done an alternate history video on what if the US immediately went to war with the soviet union after defeating germany in ww2?

It’s not that we are the men born in hard times. I think we haven’t even began the hard times. These are just the birthing pains and we are about to be thrown into something we can’t imagine. We are just men preparing for the hard times yet to come.

You're exactly right - we aren't in the hard times yet and are in the calm before the storm.
These hard times are going to hit Millennials and Gen Xers too, so we're all going to have to harden up together or else we're screwed.

I actually had plans for major reforms. Since our country seems to be somewhat in a dip, I was thinking that we should throw the shackles off of the past and move forward with the future.
Since this generation (Generation Z) is giving up on finding meaning, I was thinking of land reform and allowing said generation to own 4 acres of land which they can help raise their crops and livestock along with their families and neighbors. The plan is to stabilize as much as possible by giving the generation something to work with even if that labor is manual.
This is also on top of military, agriculture, education, government, zoning and economic reforms. Reply if you are interested and we'll see how this can work out if everyone is to be happy.

The current management will not allow any of that to happen.
They wield "democracy" as their mandate to keep you down.
Gotta do something about them first.

Imagine that thing's are "hard" right now. They aren't they are just stagnant.
My grandparents grew up in WW2 and they had it hard. Not knowing if their father would return home. Not knowing if the sentry's old home would be theirs tomorrow. Going to school with a empty stomach. Then only having a soup that is just water and potatoes.
They and the adults back then were dying or where close to it for years.
These times are not just hard. But a nightmare.
The things that we fase here Today globally is because of mismanagement and incompetents
Best thing is to just ride this out and keep on working no matter what. Giving up or giving in to anger just makes everything go way worse.

I am a part of generation Z. And I agree. The most difficult part of all of this is looking back and seeing how easy everyone else’s lives were. And now I have to grab myself by the bootstraps and fight for a better future. I admit. I am not as strong as a baby boomer would be. Mentally or physically. I am spoiled by the modern world. I also agree that things aren’t at their worst. Things still have a long way to fall down.

Nice reality check Dean. We ‘all’ feed into this cycle of doom and gloom so hard that we don’t often take a step back and actually analyze the situation we’re in.
