One more confirmation that this works perfectly. Wife and I had the car shut down on us on a trip on Saturday and had to get towed back home. No shops were open so I attempted this fix with that $6, 150amp fuse from AutoZone. Just had to use wire cutters to snip open one side of the connector and shave down the edges with a dremel to get it to fit. The battery had been drained from our multiple attempts to restart the car, but after a trickle charge of the batter, the car went from totally nonfunctional to working like normal right away. Thank you so much for this video! It really saved us.

Thanks MrknowitAllYah! Recently had a forced safety stop (2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid, just over 100k miles). Was able to get to a parking lot, but then nothing! Never heard of the "known" issue until I checked online and am so happy I got to your post! I was considering having the vehicle towed to the dealer but was able to get the vehicle going again with a mega fuse and the next day replaced it with OEM Safety Connector (which btw was also 150A). Fingers crossed that was the only issue and now I have a fuse backup as well. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much this worked!!! Had my 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid just all of a sudden had the Hybrid System Warning came on while on the highway back home, was able to get it into a parking lot, had to leave it overnight, as my “Ready” would not come on. Very much appreciated video 🙏. I had same issue on my Sonata 2012 and you have saved me literally thousands of $$$. After fuse replacement, I had engine light sign display on dash, which went away after 2nd or 3rd time of use.

I'm definitely going to try this. The crazy thing is, is that I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid with the EXACT mileage that you currently had in this video. I will keep this updated on if it works!
Let me start out by saying this was a great video. However, it needs to be made VERY clear this is ONLY temporary !!!!!!! You don't mess around with high voltage !!!! The factory fuse was made for a very important reason. You ca not just look at the "voltage" on the fuse. You need to be aware of the AMPS. You have to remember 99.9% of the time. The fuse blew for a reason. Therefore, if you have the wrong fuse and NOT a good connection. It could result in damage and/or Fire. I do not work for hyndia or Kia. So, just in case people think I am saying this on their behalf. Remember, what I said most of all. Fuses for the most part Blow for a reason. If you do this PLEASE make sure you have your car checked out and replace with the correct fuse. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't see my post as an attack. Again, this is a great video my man...
That is why I left the link to the correct one in the description. It is in fact a temporary fix like i said. The reason the fuse blows is because it was overprotected with the 125A. The factory updated the fuse in the breaker with the same 150A that is in my description. They have a half price sale now...no affiliation.
I had this probelm and ordered the exact Hyundai part from Amazon and it contains a 150A fuse in that orange housing. So the video is safe and accurate
Hello my friend, Thank you so much for the video. You truly saved me a lot of time and money. My car broke down before for the same reason and the dealership charged my a fortune to supposedly "replace" the power assembly relay and the fuse. Now, it literally only costed me $5.65 to have car running again. Thank you again and good luck!

Update: I bought the replacement fuse. Nothing changed. I forked up the money for a new hybrid battery, from besthybridbatteries and had it installed. I drove it two blocks, the hybrid battery died, left me stranded and I had to pull over and charge up the Hybrid battery to midway, it wouldn’t recharge past the halfway mark. I drove it 4 blocks and it died again, the battery showed on dash as empty, so 2 hours later and flashers on all the time until I got home and avoided many inconsiderate people from crashing into my car as I’m slowly creeping down the streets. I sent emails asking for help and what to do now but still no reply from besthybridbatteries. I had to get a tow to my nearby trusted Sundevil auto to have them run a diagnostic and pay the charges, then I’ll email besthybridbatteries the diagnostics results then do the wait game again, wow,
Thank you so much for your helpful video. How do you clear the check engine light after the car starts? For Sonata hybrid 2-014, do you have to use special OBD II scanner to read/clear the error code? I tried to use regular regular OBD II scanner and my scanner could not even read the error code in the first place.

I took my 150 amp fuse out of my Kia Optima Hybrid and when I check for continuity between the ends of the fuse it reads 0.00. Could the fuse still be the problem? Or does the fuse sound fine?
I was wondering the samething? Maybe he's some kind of master mechanic and likes helping others out ! Either way he's a champ!!!! But I bet the Hyundai dealers don't like him, fuck those dealers !!!!!!
The diagnosis information is available in a lot of places on the web. The aftermarket temporary fuse is something I haven't seen anywhere else. Thanks to this guy, I can afford to carry a spare in the glove box.

@@woodh9542 I bought the whole safety plug on amazon. It was 64 dollars. 78 now. Kia dealer wanted 62 just for the fuse but it was a week away. Amazon delivered the whole thing in 2 days.
Good Video! Could you please confirm this only applies to when the car will not start for a long period of time? That this fuse is not related to INTERMITTENT loss of starting? Thank you!
Before doing something better to read errors with some ODB scaner at least. My hyundai sonata hybrid 2013 have the same simptoms. Sometimes it starts from the first time, sometimes I need to press few times. But today it woldn't start after many tries. I removed the fuse today and tested it with multimeter. And it looks fine. Than I read erros with ODB reader and got P0705 error. This error indicates that something wrong with the transmission switch inhibitor. I unlocked transmission with a screwdriver (you can see a little square hole at front of the handle for unlock) and shift it to drive and parking position few times. And engine started after that. Will replace this part in a service or maybe will do it myself. But anyway, thanks for the video.

I have a 2021 sonata hybrid with a similar issue. Car acts like it's dead till I hit the 12v reset button and boom. Back to normal. Thing is this is happening EVERY time I get into my car and is now giving me the HEV light. Still runs fine but now I'm worried I'm destroying my car. Do you think this'll fix that issue too?
Hello, I have an 11 sonata hybrid, and most people who’s issue was this fuse, state that their car will not turn on and is not functional at all. However, while I was driving, my check charging system warning came on, I pulled over, turned the car off, then turned it back on after a couple minutes and it worked fine the rest of the way home. This has happened a couple times, but has started normally after shutting car off each time. Could the fuse still be the issue?
So I can tell you first hand that it could very well be the issue. It was doing that for me for a while and then getting the belts changed fixed the issue for a little bit and then it came back. Roughly almost two hours ago my car died altogether. I called O'Reilly's first to make sure they had the fuse, took a bus there and back to my car while doing at Lowe's along the way for a screwdriver and metal clips. As of seven minutes ago, my car is back functioning and I'll use my OBDII reader at home to clear the check engine light. If you have any other questions, just message back here.
I have a 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid and I got a letter from Kia America in Sept 2022 stating that if the hybrid warning system ever went off, have the dealership replace the fuse (upgraded to the 150) and housing at no cost as they upped the warranty from 100k miles to 150k miles. I got screwed at Sooner Kia of Norman when my hybrid warning system went off and took it there to have this service campaign fuse replacement, courtesy of Kia America, they had my car 8 weeks even though I told them when I took the car in, that that's what I needed done, they had backed it into a post in their service lot, left my air intake vent loose and the bolts to the voltage box underneath air intake vent loose under the hood, my battery was dead, a d still had the original 125 Amp fuse just thrown in the trunk. I had to have it towed home. I just received my fuse in mail and if this fixes my car, someone at Sooner Kia of Norman might hide when they see me, because I'm livid, and this is the whole reason why Big Red Sports and Imports of Norman had to close and then became Sooner Kia of Norman. Google Big Red Kia, the lawsuit is horrendous!
Is it a problem that the original fuse is rated for 450v and the replacement you used is rated for 32v? Was about to do this with my car, but that is making me a little nervous.
Did you find out why that fuse failed? Are you still driving the car. I had exact same thing happen to me the dealer has had it for 4 days still not fixed. I want to know what caused the fuse to blow. Thanks the
The fuse is rated too low. Its a problem that is almost always waiting to happen because the system needs a 150Amp instead of the 125Amp. Click the posted link. Order the fuse and go pick up your vehicle from the stealers. or go get one from advance auto. Megafuse.
Hi, I have flashing “ready” light and doesn’t start engine cranking. I have OBDII code in ABS module and Brake booster, my question: ABS problem may causing no start engine and “ready” flashing?
The residual heat from the brakes is converted in energy used for charging the hybrid battery. If there are any issues at all with any components of the system it will therefore affect the battery which then will make it flash. get a blue tooth scan tool that can tell you exactly what the issue is. They are totally worth it
I have a 2012. Do I need to disconnect the hybrid battery? I already took out the safety plug without disconnecting the battery. Sitting here wondering if I should disconnect the battery or just plug it back in.

YES, These car's operation HANG ON 1 FUSE !! If this one fuse pops, YOUR CAR STOPS !! SO PEOPLE, GET YOURSELVES ANOTHER SAFTEY PLUG AS A BACK-UP..carry it in your lower center consule.. And familiarize yourself with removing and re-installing this plug. *Hint, it must be all the way open to insert. Then close till it clips.. Practice it because You WILL have to do this, in the dark, on the highway.. not where you want to be fumbling around.. These Hyundai Hybrids are Great Driving, Ultra Reliable ( If made in Korea. Reject any made in Alabama, google it) But they have this Achilles heel. Carry a SPARE!!! They usually pop between 120 and 140 thousand miles, but one every 10,000 fuses is defective industry-standard... so you never really know when.
So the same thing happen to my car and we switch it to a 150amp 32v from auto zone but how long can I drive it like that or is it safe but I order the part takes 2 weeks to get here

Did you solve your issue?
How did you diagnose that this fuse was the problem?
I was wondering the samething? Maybe he's some kind of master mechanic and likes helping others out ! Either way he's a champ!!!! But I bet the Hyundai dealers don't like him, fuck those dealers !!!!!!
The diagnosis information is available in a lot of places on the web. The aftermarket temporary fuse is something I haven't seen anywhere else. Thanks to this guy, I can afford to carry a spare in the glove box.
Here is the link for the fuse

@lincolnmani will this same part work in the 2012 hyundai sonata hybrid
@@lincolnmaniac how did you find this fuse on Amazon what did you type in please
@@woodh9542 I bought the whole safety plug on amazon. It was 64 dollars. 78 now. Kia dealer wanted 62 just for the fuse but it was a week away. Amazon delivered the whole thing in 2 days.
Hi where is the ubications for the power uh assembly relay on the kia optima k5 2012
Good Video!
Could you please confirm this only applies to when the car will not start for a long period of time?
That this fuse is not related to INTERMITTENT loss of starting?
Thank you!
happened to me last week😩 i'm hoping this fixes the problem!
You save my money and time. Thanks. 🙏🏼💕
I am very interested in where that switch is located that caused that issue.
@@mrknowitallyah6058 It is located at the top of the gear box and have 427003B500 part number in my case. To get to it, you need to remove the hybrid control unit, I think. But I'm not sure. I'll do it this weekend.

worked like a charm, thank you!
check to see if your inverter is working correctly if not it has to be replace
Great i am planning to get on used with 60 km
I have a 2021 sonata hybrid with a similar issue. Car acts like it's dead till I hit the 12v reset button and boom. Back to normal. Thing is this is happening EVERY time I get into my car and is now giving me the HEV light. Still runs fine but now I'm worried I'm destroying my car. Do you think this'll fix that issue too?
How do you take the cover off help me pls .
small screwdriver and lift the tabs
there is a difference in volts. $6 fuse has 32v and hyundai original has 450v. Can it still be used?
I don't even have sonata hybrid but I have to say thanks for your input!
What fuse is it because I found one but how do I make sure it’s the right one
How did yall split the fuse?
Thank you soooo much. You saved me more money than Geico 😂
Thank you sir for the great info
What a horrible experience but thats what they do at dealerships. Getting your car back to you is not their priority..ever.
I have a 2017 Kia Optima hybrid. Does it have that same fuse?
Yes its the same fuse
Where is the location of the safety plug for the 2017 kia optima hybrid?
Thats what i need to know as well. Thanks!
Do you still have the car??
How did you spilt the mega fuse just so I dont mess the fuse up 😅
You could use some wire cutting pliers or even a real good scissor. The material is copper so its pretty soft. Good luck.
Is it a problem that the original fuse is rated for 450v and the replacement you used is rated for 32v? Was about to do this with my car, but that is making me a little nervous.
I used it like that for 2 months without an issue until I replaced it with the one from the description link
Can you post where you bought the fuse at
Posted in description.
Did you find out why that fuse failed? Are you still driving the car. I had exact same thing happen to me the dealer has had it for 4 days still not fixed. I want to know what caused the fuse to blow. Thanks
the
The fuse is rated too low. Its a problem that is almost always waiting to happen because the system needs a 150Amp instead of the 125Amp. Click the posted link. Order the fuse and go pick up your vehicle from the stealers. or go get one from advance auto. Megafuse.
Also. Over aggressive driving will blow the fuse too because it really should be 150A
How do you have the CEL cleared?
Autozone or advance auto for free or just drive it 100 mils and it clears itself
My hybrid car was in accident, airbags blew now it doesn't wanna start, what could bevthe problem?
I did it everything you said do and it still says check charging system. What do u think is the problem

I got a replacement fuse. Sorry forgot to mention that.
God bless you ❤.
You saved me today.
Merci beaucoup . 😊
How long will that temporary fuse work?
forever but change it to the right 150A
While changing this fusez do i have to disconnect 12v battery first?
@@SyedQadri-hc2cbNo not really. The fuse will be pulled out of the HEV already
I did this and it is still saying HEV is there anything else I can do to fix this?
check the c0524 recall. There is a new part 375f2-4r150qqh
How do I split it..
Thank you so much Sir.
Legend.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That split is not safe put a washer in there so it has full contact
it works but if a washer works better then i am all for it.
Ok I didn’t buy the mega fuse I bought the one you holding but I have no idea how to put it in
YES, These car's operation HANG ON 1 FUSE !!
That was awesome. People will do well if they take that advice. Thank you.
How did you get the old fuse out ?
Send me the link please
Thank you so much , you really help me
I just bought the fuse. Do I need to disconnect the car battery before removing the fuse?
no. just pull it out
I’m not able get the screws of, tried with the drill machine too
Any tips any one
You have to use a ratchet to loosen it. The screwdriver won't work.
The Fuses from the link is 31.26 for the proper fuse. No affiliation.
Thanks Excellent & Beyond
It has to be 150 ? Why not 125? I'm just curious. Thanks
The new one from the dealership is upgraded to 150. The 125 is looking low
Awesome to know. Thanks
I cut mine open and it's attached in the middle. No way to make it fit
Thanks a lot!!you are real man!
