tapestry weaving is a true art form. I respect the artists and crafters that have mastered this skill in previous generations to tell stories and in today to express themselves.
oh it's so lovely!!!!! and the varying width tells the story of how you tried to do something new.......it's a beautiful imperfection that just makes your work richer and more valuable
Definitely a hit!! It's not too many colors, I love the colors you picked! Texture texture texture! That's what makes it so wonderful! I know you were learning, and wanted to try it all. I just think everything you did was great! I'm glad you love it, and I'm glad you had such a good time and that you shared it with us!! It's kind of frustrating that now I have another thing I want to try! LOL. (No guilt intended.)😂😉😀 ....only because I'm so behind in my necessary projects.
I am loving these colors on you Wendy. You're practically vibrant, and your nails are popping too! Great job on your tapestry!! Keep up the amazing work as always
Wow! Very nice! I've watched videos of people weaving, sometimes on giant looms, and I've always thought it was such a beautiful fiber art. Glad you're trying new things! Blessings!!!! 💜💜
Beautiful work! I’m a fashion designer from Brazil who lives in Argentina. Here they do a lot of handmade work, all kinds: embroidery, knitting, crochet, tapestries, etc... It reminded of the stuff I see here! I love everything handmade and I believe they are truly valuable. It’s a type of work it comes from our souls and it takes you a decent amount of time. ❤️🇧🇷
It's super eclectic and cute!! How fun! I loved your sewing videos, but it's fun watching you branch out and try new things. You're just so pleasant and kind!!
Hi Wendy. I think that is amazing for a first effort! I have 5 different sized weaving looms, including a huge floor standing loom, but having worked on them for ages. You have inspired me to get weaving again, thank you!
I started to learn how to use a spindle in order to make my own thread for crocheing a while ago. This looks perfekt for using all the odd small pieces of chuncky wool I have; thanks for the inspo!
@@withwendy that's something you might enjoy too if you like tapestry. A hand spindle is really cheap and easy to make, and spinning is, simmilar to weaving, a really meditative process. :)
I am a Weaver aka Fiber Artist. Although Tapestry is not my genre of weaving (I have a floor loom),I have taken classes in taestry. I love. I find it soothing also. Your piece is well balanced with many textures and colors. I really like it. You 're a natural...just like crocheting.
I love the way your weaving looks. My senior year of high school I had to weave a piece for my art class and hated it. It was on a big loom and stringing it took like 3 days. So watching this video gave me some interesting flashbacks to that and might have re-sparked my interest in weaving.
I did some macrame back in the day, but never got to try the weaving. I still have the books and will, one day, give it a try. I am encouraged to give it a try. Your hanging is so cute, so cool. Thanks for showing us how you did it. Thanks for posting it here.
Absolutely gorgeous! I adore the colors and textures mixing, and I’m kinda feeling the curves and changing size of the finished product. Excellent job! I’m super interested in taking a class now, but it might take me a year to complete a loom with my toddler running around 😅
oh I loved the colours! sure there were many but they all followed the same colour scheme! also, gosh Wendy I love your videos so much, the editing, they're so soothing, always puts a smile on my face AND fills me with inspiration and motivation. x
As much as I love sewing, I have been making a basket lately. It has been definitively less stressful than sewing and very relaxing! Thanks for the inspiration
Hey Wendy! I love your choices of colors, textures, and shapes in your weaving! They all compliment each other just beautifully. I'm not normally a fan of decorative weavings, but you have a great artistic talent for creating a weaving that is incredibly pleasing to the eye. I would definitely buy this! I would even buy a photo of it (maybe you could take a picture of it and sell prints)! Keep up the beautiful work! ~Darla
Great job! My major in college was in Fiber Construction and Design so I have done many-a-tapestry in my day. I'm planning on doing a tapestry front pillow for my living room!
I adore these weaving videos! Your editing on your other ones is so nice and I love watching all the colors, textures and patterns come together. You have very nice taste in colors and I would love to try this myself to make a throw pillow front.
Hi Wendy, this is a really amazing outcome, especially for a beginner, and I love it! It looks like a landscape with fields and bushes and a little house in the middle which has a black and white roof. It is not too narrow at the top, my first little carpet had a very lean "waist", just like an hourglass 😉 no, not really, but quite a lot. Definitely more than yours! To prevent it you just have to keep the ends a little bit looser. Keep it up, mate! You have got talent anyway. The next one will be even more fun, and it will be perfect!
Wendy, you inspire me so much, i started sewing because of you and now im exploring more mediums for the same reason. Thank you for bringing us along in your creative process. The tapestry came out amazing, i really like the not-so-straight sides je. Also this video was beautifully shot and edited, much love from Mexico 💖
Wendy, this may be something you don't have any interest in, or you've already tried it, but I thought it might be a nice idea with winter coming up: arm knit yourself a cozy blanket! The thick yarn you used in this piece made me think of arm knitting since that texture seems to be "the" weight of yarn to use for arm knitting. Plus, that's always been on my radar, so I'd love to see one of my favorite TH-camrs tackle it as inspiration.
I absolutely love it!!! It's gorgeous!! I love the colours, I love how many different techniques you used, and I love the variety of textures! I like everything about it and would honestly buy it if you were to ever sell tapestries.
Wendy this looks so incredible! I love how you try new things and inspire people like me to give it a try as well. Thank you so much and it looks great! 💓 it was definitely a hit!! I love it too!
that's beautiful !---i actually haven't seen too many that i like, for whatever reason---the color choices, shapes and textures in most all the others i've seen (and i have several books too!) aren't really to my liking---yours is mucho fantastic---the best one i've seen !
LOVED this, and the way you edited the video as well. Would even have loved a longer video, showing a timelapse or just the full footage of your weaving - so relaxing to watch that I crocheted while it was happening haha. Thank you for sharing your creativity :)
Great weaving! I am glad they taught you proper techniques, I see so many tapestry techniques done wrong and it makes weaving more difficult. Local guilds and yarn shops can be excellent resources. Peter collingwood’s rug books are online and free, you can use weft faced weaving techniques in your future weaving. You should try weaving cloth on a floor loom. It so addictive. You can also sew with your tapestry fabric.
We did this in 5th grade. Nothing as good as this but I've always wanted to do it again. I love it. You did such a good job. It would be a really nice wedding gift or baby gift for someone.
I really love this! I've seen weaving on a full fledged loom, and this smaller hand held loom makes me really want to try it fro myself! I think you'll be able to make some excellent rugs using your bigger table loom!
i'm soooo so happy you made a video about weaving!! i love weaving and watching people weave~ thank you! 😊💖 looks excellent too, like you had a great time!
It looks complex when you pull back, but when you're building it up a bit a time you're just in the zone focusing on the current yarn. I think that's a big part of why I liked it!
I made my first ever tapestry today using your tutorials and dang, I made the exact same mistake as you with the tugging. The sides are WONKY! hahaha but I still love it. It's my first child and it's hanging proudly on my wall. Love your videos!!
Have you seen the video about the giant tapestry weavers in Paris??? That stuff looks crazy hard!! But good job this is so cool and I definitely wanna try it now
That looks great! The different widths just make it look more interesting. And your use of so many different materiels draws attention away from that anyway :)
This was definitely a great idea, loved seeing you learning and the work in progress and the beautiful finial creation AND i am so inspired i will definitely try out tapestry making myself
I absolutely love it, and for a first attempt it's really quite good! Most first goes are fat in the middle and itty bitty at both ends-yours is, to the naked eye, pretty dang even. It looks a bit like the area where my grandparents had a house in the Tuscan countryside, if my grandparents' house in the Tuscan countryside were surrounded by fluffy pink bushes-or maybe blossoming cherry trees? The creme shapes with burgundy/brown on top look like little villas to me, with the silvery blue as ponds, and of course the fluffy pink bushes.
I call it a HIT! Good idea to try all the techniques so you can pick your favorites for the next project. I'm taking a weaving class with floor looms but we are stopped for the virus. Going to try Tapestry.
I think you did well with your color choices. And hey, you got white walls in your house! You can’t go wrong with all the colors you chose. Good job! I am looking up that place where you took the class.
It is gorgeous - I noticed it hanging in your Stitched-watching video and loved it. This gives me an idea for how to weave a beautiful sweater - no knitting required. :)

So beautiful! It looks to me like you have a sun at one spot and a little house floating in the middle of the whole thing, with windows and a door. Whether that was your intention or not, I love it!!!! Now I gotta find a class near me :D
It's a hiiiiit, fosho! Tapestry weaving and looming is something I've been meaning to try; and was so excited to see you do it. I think you did a great job!! 👍🏼
Pretty good result for a first go. There is a trick or two to prevent wobbly sides, leashes is one, fastening the outside warp thread to the frame with spare warp thread or string to keep it in line. You can start with a cartoon of your design gust don't pull the weft too hard. Good luck!
Stay tuned for the huge one I'm currently making using the legs of my dining table. No sitting and eating until I'm done!! Sorry Dan.
withwendy I saw that on your Instagram! I'm excited to see how it turns out!
Hey! You can make looms out of scrap wood!
I'd love to see how you did that 😂👍
I can't wait 😍
This looks great! You did a wonderful job! Can’t wait to see the larger scale project! xoxo
Definately a 'hit'. it's eccentric and cute as heck!
Yay yay!! I feel soft just lookin at it, so glad you like it too!

Completely. It is mind blowing to see how people paint with yarn.
@@withwendy I like how you described it as painting with yarn. That was beautiful.
@Lola M i certainly agree. Needlecrafts such as weaving need to be kept alive. It's something dear to the fabric of humanity.
Beautifully written. Thank you!

Make diy room decor videos 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your tapestry is like a beautiful coral reefs! So rich in color and texture:)
Ooh yess coral reefs! I totally see it
