    This is going to sound ridiculous but I always tied my twining row by hand. My mind is blown watching you do this with a tapestry needle. This is so much faster than what I've always done. So simple and yet that literally never occurred to me!

    I’m a little confused as to how you actually finish your piece and prevent it from coming apart. I’m building an 8 foot frame loom out of wall studs to weave blankets on- do you have any suggestions for finishing a piece or making sure it doesn’t come apart after I finish it? Can I just use the technique in this video and call it a day, or would another step be necessary?

    Have a question...After I finish the twining row & want to continue, (maybe I'm not understanding correctly)do I just cut the next regular weaving row at the end & start a new row? Hope you understand my question.

    • @amandabolden3172
      @amandabolden3172 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi I’m not sure if you mean for the plain stitches (which are the last two rows) but she kept the same length of yarn that she measured five times the length of the loom for: first row twining and second and third was plain. She didn’t cut it until she was finished all of these rows. Her next steps were with knots with another video, but even if you were doing another weaving technique or color you would add another yarn as it probably wouldn’t be long enough to continue on with so many rows with just the five times lengths. I hope this helps.

    How do you thread the tapestry needle? You sort of skip over that

    • @amandabolden3172
      @amandabolden3172 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Like how you thread a regular needle with thread. Think of the yarn as a thick thread…the needle will have a whole in it and you put it in. But you don’t knot it like you do when regular hand sewing. Hope this helps.

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will make a TH-cam short on this soon! I've actually never been asked that before but I'm glad you did because I'm sure there's others that wonder! As a written explanation, if you're using a chunky yarn, what I like to do is fold the yarn making a loop and then squish that loop through the hole on the needle.

    • @spruceandlinen
      @spruceandlinen  ปีที่แล้ว

      This loom has a weaving length of about 14". I like my cardstock to be at least 2 1/2" tall- it needs to be tall enough that you have enough length in the warp strings to tie them into knots later. The height will sometimes depend on the project and how you want to finish the top.
