Great tutorial! A couple points: If you don't have a stretched canvas or frame lying around, you can buy just the stretcher bars from any craft store. The thick pink & white strips look like combed top or carded roving, which are typically used for spinning but work great in weaving too. You don't have to cut them with scissors, simply hold the fiber in both hands with your hands about a foot apart, then pull your hands even farther apart, slowly at first. This will let the individual fibers slide past one another and you'll get a tapered end, which is easier to weave in than a blunt cut end.
Wow I am absolutely obsessed with you! You are a lifesaver in its truest form, pulling me out of the depths of despair. That sounds dramatic but I’ve just been in the trenches of a dark depression for a long time now (3 years) and this is the first time I felt that “butterfly gut feeling” that comes when you start a new book that you’ve been dying to read or a new project that gets your creative juices flowing. With tears in my eyes, I say thank you.
This was such a hard one too because it's alot about actually seeing what I am doing as opposed to talking. So glad to hear that you felt it was easy to understand :)
I had to go order a loom off of eBay because that little tapestry inspired me so much! Why is it that I need to either organize or create after seeing your videos? Whatever you’re doing works to inspire me! Thank you
So, I just got back to the US from Japan, I have a fever and can barely breathe or sleep. I watched this video 3 times because it was so soothing while the medicine kicked in. Thank you! Love these so much and will be doing them when I'm better.
I took a textile class in High school and I learned how to knit and weave on a loom. I made a tapestry of my face and turned it into a pillowcase. I LOVED IT! I've wanted my own loom ever since but i dont have the room for it. This is such a brilliant idea! Thank you for sharing
What a lovely video, easy to follow what you're doing, you have a good clear voice and the music is sweet and gentle and doesn't overwhelm the talking, like on so many other videos. Thank you!
Thought I’d thank you for your videos in which you must have spent hours sewing decorative features on pillows and rugs. Recently, I found myself hemming a rather pliable rug instead of bringing it to be hemmed professionally. I threw it in the washer and it subsequently unraveled. Ultimately, some of those threads became the perfect alternative to a spool of thread that I had attempted to use initially, which wasn’t strong enough and promptly broke. I thought that I’d sew one width of the rug’s hem, but surprised myself and went back and tacked the rough edge as well, to prevent further unraveling. It turned out nice! So, thank you for instilling confidence in your viewers, who might not even know that they, too, have the patience needed to complete a project that would save some time and money. ✨
I'm really glad you filmed this video bc I had an extra canvas frame that I had no idea what to with and I've always wanted to get into weaving! Thanks and happy birthday, Drew!!!
Drew I've watched this video a couple of times now...and I'll probably watch it a couple more times...LOVE THIS...so AWESOME and beautiful...this is definitely a project I will do. LOVE!!!cat x
I'm watching this at 2 in the morning and i started to fall asleep (not because of the video, I'm just really tired and the music was so smoothing) and all of the sudden Drew screams at the end of the video and i almost woke up my whole family with my scream.
I always love watching your vids before I go to sleep. They are just so calming and relaxing to watch. Keep up the good work Drew!😊 Oh and a little late happy birthday to you!🥳
I have just gotten into weaving into macrame.....so much inspiration here. I am going to incorporate fabric at some point. I love fabric and fibers but do NOT like to sew....so I’ll Macra weave. I bet you would enjoy it also. Thank you for your inspiration.
I love how all of your DIY's are just that. DIY's. They're always so easy yet turn out amazing and are very customizable. Some DIY videos I come across (That I still love to watch and are still great videos!!) aren't very cost effective when you have to go buy every single one of the supplies and take so much time to make. At that point I'd rather just buy it.
Well first of all happy belated birthday! Second of all, amazing video. And third of all I have LOVED watching you really master your craft. Your talent, confidence, and personality have really shown through since you started this channel and I am LIVING for it!
This is gorgeous! I tried weaving today and my tapestry turned out so wonky haha but I still love it. It's my first child!! Amazing video! I'm gonna take some of your tips and apply it to my next tapestry project :-) Thanks for the amazing video
thank u so much for this video!! I had seen wendy's before yours, and even though it seemed like something I wanted to do, the pricey tools kinda made me put it off. now w this more affordable option I might actually try it out :)
Thank you for what I know but haven't done without my 48" loom from the past . I design needlepoint and counted cross stitch but this was so calming. Reminded me of my first teacher who worked with a comb beater and was so good. Music background has always been special in your vids. Got me with your recommends always outstanding. Have a good day whenever you get this, and whoever reads it. Try a little happiness project.
Just found this tutorial and I love it! My mum worked in Yorkshire (England) woollen mills as a weaver all her life, and two of my sisters were warpers - all done by machinery rather than by hand. If you ever come to England try to visit a working woollen mill, they’re really interesting. Hugs from England and have a very crafty day! 💕💕💕
These weavings are really great. I have an actual small loom that my aunt gave me many, many years ago when I was a child. I think it is time to get it out and make something for my walls. Thanks for the inspiration.
This is so freaky. I just watched with Wendy’s weaving videos and was writing a list of what I would need to make my own loom, 1 HOUR LATER and you post a video about weaving with a MUCH easier way of creating the loom. Stars aligning for me today! Happy birthday 🥳
Omgosh!!!!!! This is my favorite video so far I think, Drew! I used to use a loom like this when I was about 20 years old (40years ago) !!!!! And I love the free form and textural elements you used. It is totally organic. How beautiful. Love your colors choices too!
Btw, the soothing music under the video was amazing, I feel so relaxed now!
Ive been trying to find the song in the background and I cant find it anywhere and I just really need to know rn oml
Sameee

I like how clear and precise your instructions are and that as you’re dictating your instructions are also very clear on the visuals.
This was such a hard one too because it's alot about actually seeing what I am doing as opposed to talking. So glad to hear that you felt it was easy to understand :)

At first I was thinking... this is too much work, but as you went along I was like... this is so pretty, and probably great relaxation therapy.

💀💀
Happy Birthday. Hope your day was as special as all the projects you do.
I came here because I'm gay and need a nicer apartment and I left here with a basic understanding of textile arts.
Your videos are so relaxing
Who else spent 2 minutes waiting for the "clock" behind him, to change?
Happy birthday Drew! Your amazing!
