"Can I lick the plate now?" Nelly is just sooo cute saying that!! Guys, this vlog made me realize that Philippine food is truly underrated and needs to get on the world stage. Pronto!
Kinilaw works perfectly in the Philippines because the fishes are caught fresh from the sea. People often underestimate how fish can taste so much better simply because it's freshly caught. Freshness is crucial in having a perfectly done kinilaw...which is why I have never had it since moving to the US more than 30 years ago. But, guess what? One never really forgets how good it tastes as it always lingers in one's memory longer than any other dish.
You guys are glowing, this vacation was indeed a great idea. The food looks so good. Stay positive and safe!

Kinilaw is known in Visayas and Mindanao region, because most the people are rely on fish products unlike in Luzon that are based on meat products. That's why Kinilaw is so underated dish in the Philippines.

You ever tried, Kare Kare , Oxtails in peanut sauce? One of my favorites.
If you do try it make sure it's with Oxtails and not tripe but they often put both.

Looks really good guys! Poke bowls are wonderful I often go to this a place here in Walnut Creek called Oke Poke. I don't really eat much meat anymore but I would try that pork belly . Calamari is one of my favs may sound foul but I prefer those with tentacles. We have a grocery store here called Seafood city. If I can source some decent bangus this weekend I'll put the Traeger smoker to use and smoke it. Have it with a salad thanks for giving me some ideas for this weekend. That kinilaw looks really good too another dish on the bucket list when I get there. Awesome channel! Great day to the both of you.

My dinner today is Kilawing Labanos (Raddish Kinilaw). I added chicken instead of pork then chicken liver instead of pork liver. Also added chilis and coconut milk. This is one dish I bet you, Nelly and Mike, haven't tried yet. After trying this, you may have to rethink which one will stay as a favorite. Adobo or Kilawing labanos.

You guy should try all the other kinilaws! Kinilaw na Sea Cucumber or Baat (not sure of the spelling) and Kinilaw na Shrimp! I remember loving kinilaw na pasayan. I haven't tried it na growing up since i didn't see anyone make it here as city. It has to be fresh talaga

I knew that when you said at the beginning of the video that you wished Peaniut was as cuddly, I thought: it's likely a male cat, and you confirmed it.
Being a multi-cat household since childhood, we've observed through the years that male cats almost always tend to be more cuddly than females; more so the calico variety like Peanut is, but these do tend to have more personality :D Just sharing.
"Kinilaw" ("kilaw"-raw/uncooked, mostly applies to select meats incl. fish) would be the equivalent of sashimi. Try the kinilaw shrimps next time. Just a dash of calamansi and it's good to go.
The reason it's not as popular or regular as cooked Filipino cuisine is the availability of these select, fresh catch in the urban areas. As such, having kinilaw at home would be a feast in itself when it's in the menu.

They called it in siargao tinolang isda 😂 it taste soo good and refreshing yet simple,,non oil fish soup called tinola,,,,they boil water together with oinion ginger,tomato,lemon grass and fresh fish and added with camote tops or malunggay,,simple dish but very healthy and so refreshing (tinolang isda or sinabawang isda) its also one of under rated dish

Whenever I come back home here in Mindanao I always urge my parents to make me some kinilaw or I just buy a fresh yellow fin tuna and make it at home with my parents, it's really good 👍 it's my most desired food when I'm away😊. A visit with my Family in Mindanao wouldn't be complete without kinilaw🤤.
