- Akshay Kumar is an actor and producer with a career spanning over 150 films who also has two national awards to his name. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009 for his contribution to the field of arts. He is affectionately known as the 'Khiladi Kumar' of Bollywood due to his fearless portrayal of action-packed roles, often performing his stunts without the use of body doubles. He is a trained martial artist who started his career as a stuntperson in Bollywood. In this edition of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, he talks about his admiration for films that convey meaningful social messages and stories of individuals who have made a difference through their acts. He also talks about his latest movie Mission Raniganj, which has hit theatres and is based on the rescue of miners by an engineer from an underground mine situated in eastern India. The Airlift actor also explains about his fitness regime and his strong belief in Hinduism. I've seen this movie Mission Raniganj and it's a must watch movie for everyone 5/5 rating. All the actors have played their characters so well that you don't even realize when the time flies. This kind of cinema is keeping bollywood alive.

@@praneethkumar2341 2 saal pehle unka comeback hua tha or tab main colleges ke liye try bhi karti thi wahan mera passion or role model poochte they to I used to call Priyettan as an inspiration. The institute people used to ask that "Do You Watch His Mallu Films"? till then I did not see but following his Mallu films and music since college days as my aim is to dive deeper into filmmaking and after watching his Malayalam films I started liking him more. Baat karein Paresh sir or Sharman ki so they are character artists and being their fans is not a big deal as the person exploring cinema can like as many character artists they want.(I even like Southie character artists). I still have no hate for Akki but you taunting me for not liking action and just saying that I must see 90s films, abusing me when I was complaining of being bored while seeing Ashaant as well as saying that I hate his 90s look(jabki I just said that I feel better in 2000s things compared to the era I have not seen, this does not mean I hate 90s look and even spreading negativity against me in the fandom. I agree with Akshay. Even I am an Australian citizen born and brought up in India. My heart and soul always say India. There is not a single day pass by without thanking about India where I grew up in Karnataka. The smell of sand, food,Indian vegetables,sweet well water from my village. My village helpers who help in our field whom I always miss dearly.

Thanks a lot Smitaji..... I used to have a very low opinion about Akshayji after seeing him in Kapil Sharma Show. But after this interview I really respect this man and his simplicity. First time hearing Akshay Kumar be proud of being a Punjabi Hindu. So many times I find Punjabi's in Bollywood hide their Hindu identity or their Punjabi identity. Most of all they seem to try to showcase a Sikh identity as if Punjabi (an ethnic identity created thousands of years ago and the birthplace of Hinduism & some of the first Hindus) is the same thing as Sikh (a religious identity created 500 years ago). Punjabi's are a majority Muslim and Hindu with a Sikh minority. Good on him for claiming his identity proudly - we should all be proud of what we are and I'm immensely proud to be a Punjabi Hindu.

Just saw the "Raniganj" on Netflix, frankly its an awesome movie. Simple movie depicting how in the moment of great crisis the character stood-up and depicted the leader within. Some unnecessary drama is included showing unneeded rivalry/ corporate politics, which is universal though, every movie here or wordlwide includes this.
But all-in-all a must watch and awesome movies.

Two titans at the top of their game. Smita is one of the best interviewers - questions so good that you don't notice the time go by. Akshay proves that he has his head on his shoulders - honest, humble and, possibly, a modern Guru Dutt.
This is exactly why I love watching his movies as opposed to SRKs. He makes movies on issues, events that have a social impact or stories that have been forgotten. I love him for that. I love being his fan and love his OMG, Holiday, PadMan, Gabbar and Kesari. I was boggled about Kesari. Whoa! Forget 300.
In the whole bollywood I only like two people Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut. They are authentic, no filter and totally original. Not fake like bollywood.

I mean he is AKSHAY KUMAR probably the biggest superstar bollywood has ever seen his peak as an entertainer in mid 2000's is legendary!Nobody in the history of bollywood can be better entertainer than him. his shift from that to realistic and multiplex oriented cinema has given career to many actors as they followed his footsteps and became confident that their films could run irrespective of commercial elements. He is the pioneer of that. I agree with most of the things he said about managing time and fitness. He can afford to work only 8 hrs after this stage in his career. I am sure he must have worked more in his early days. even though he was a chef in Bangkok, he must have worked more than that. So he should be factually right here.

Most disappointing part is Akshay should have released omg 2 atleast in ott with orginal cut. Not the theatrical one. Unfortunately we never get to see what Original movie was.
