- Shehla Rashid is an activist, researcher, and academician who gained prominence in 2016 for advocating the release of then JNU President Kanhaiya Kumar, arrested on sedition charges. Recently, she made headlines for a notable shift, applauding the central government for the 'improved' situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Previously critical of human rights issues in Jammu and Kashmir, Shehla faced sedition charges over tweets against Indian army. She served as the vice-president of JNUSU in 2015-16, was a member of AISA, and completed her graduation from NIT Srinagar.

I can relate with her.
As I started consuming political content, I became a hater of modi and BJP all thanks to dhruv rather and akash banerjee's videos.
But gradually I understand that they are just manipulating the viewers and they themselves are being just biased and spread hate.

Baba Saheb was spot on in analyzing Islam and Muslims (the root of the problem is Islam and not the Muslims). He asked for complete exchange of population based on religion. Even if giving Kashmir to Pakistan was OK, but we would have exchanged and settled the border once for all. We missed it.

This is such an interesting conversation. She first wanted to be famous by being a rebel, then saw how Kanhaiya Kumar had a poor political entry, Umar Khalid went to jail by trying to be famous being against CAA. She went back into hibernation, had a deep thought and realised that unless she plays ball with Modi government, she won't have a political career. Also wants government support in academic career. So she decided to give an interview. Amazing!!
Adding to my earlier comment, just imagine how Pakistan destroyed two generations of Kashmiris (both Hindu and Muslim) since 1971, aided and abetted by the Hurriyat, NC, PDP and Congress for their own personal benefit. It is unrealistic to expect that Muslims of India will remain out of the influence of the global trend of Islamic brotherhood which again lead to Islamic Nationalism. Pakistan just used it in Kashmir. Tomorrow Bangladesh may try to use it in West Bengal. India has the second largest Muslim population in the world and so India will keep effected by this global trend .

She hasnt faced anything remotely close to what Nupur had to go through. No comparison here. She brushed it off saying 295a was brought in for a reason.
She should have commented on the life threatening sar tan se juda reaction of her community against Nupur for something which was not a false statement but a true one from the 'book' and for an activist and researcher she would or should definitely have studied the issue and formed and given an honest opinion instead of just brushing it aside

I would never normally want to Shehla but chanced upon this interview and must say I was really impressed by the change - and seems like an erudite, literate, well spoken, right thinking, pragmatic person - she stands up for what she believes and has conviction but willing to change views over time as we all do - if she sincerely had a change of heart I am glad she has given up her misguided, left liberal views and I look forward to hearing her more -for me this is not about left or right, Hindu or Muslim, rich or poor, Congress or BJP - it is about right or wrong when you apply common sense
I appreciate that Shela Rashid accepted that she did wrong & express regret for them oublicly as ANI Podcast. Only time will tell us if it is a heartfelt & genuine remorse or faked.
As a Social Worker, who has some knowledge of how sociology is taught in our country, I hope she brings in her personal experience with politics wrt "perceived" problems & genuine problems that affect our community & society. And also do research & find for herself which community faces persecution& marginalisation in India & if the Hindu community in India is as privileged & fascist as is being portrayed by leftist & 'Dravidian' politicians & academics, especially from those abroad.
I think she is not receiving foreign funds as her Kashmir agent was a total disaster. we should not forget what she told about our jawans, she should not empathize.

I tried listening to this podcast but I just couldn't. Every word coming out of her mouth seemed like a facade. And I gave up at 35 mins. You feel it when it's genuine. But not one sentence was heartfelt. "Sensitivity to injustice or perceived injustice" what a load of crap. She is using her mother and the abuse her mother faced to gain sympathy and justify her own actions.
