  • Renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai, a maestro in the world of Indian cinema, has left an indelible mark with his exceptional contributions as an actor, scriptwriter, and director.
In a captivating episode of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Ghai takes us on a riveting journey through his transformative career. He shares intriguing anecdotes, revealing how he orchestrated the collaboration between legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor, dispelling rumors of their supposed rivalry. Ghai also provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his relationships with actors Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, narrating how he played a pivotal role in shaping their careers.
The discussion delves into the challenges faced during the filming of 'Khal Nayak,' addressing Sanjay Dutt's legal issues and navigating protests against the iconic song 'Choli Ke Peeche.' Ghai candidly addresses misconceptions about his choices of 'M' actresses and opens up about the dynamics with Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Sanjay Dutt, expressing his views on chemistry with the trio.

I really enjoyed this podcast . Subhash Ghai honesty and giving credit where credit is due impressed me the most. Most film producers take all the credit for success of the film. I wish I had listened to this podcast cast 20-30 years ago my life would have been totally different. Thank you Samita for being on of the best podcaster and asking questions relevant to topic.

If you could invite Shree Pavan Kalyan from Andhra Pradesh, that would be great. In addition to being a popular Telugu actor, he is the leader of the Jan Sena party. Modiji invited him to attend the Prana Prathishta at Ayodhya, and he reportedly donated 30 lacs, a decent donation from a south-oriented movie industry. A podcast such as this would be very popular as it would give us a glimpse into Tollywood and politics. Thank you !

There is one Sun, one Moon, one Modi and one Subhash Ghai. India and the audience is proud of you. Bollywood needs Mr Ghai to revive the industry. Ass...e lovers like Karan Johar and actors wanting to direct and produce movies is what has brought the industry down. We need movies between authenticity and larger than life. Today's movies are pathetic. It has been 10 years since I seen a Indian movie because it is ridiculous. In the name of reality and authenticiry the public is being fed ridiculous amounts of too much vulgarity, crudeness, abuse. That is NOT India's soul. Neither is party culture. Neither is murders and killing it random. Neither do we need to see Singham or Rowdy Rathore. These are abhorrent to our culture. We need to see movies like Ram Lakhan, Pardes, Karz and so on

Subhash sir must shared the camera with Javed Akhtar type stalwart, who knew The Ghai n his work deeply.....Sir, love n respect from Lahore Pakistan.....bow to you....bow to you sir....

The podcast went so long, of course very sweetly but despite that I fell asleep in between and woke up and kept on watching until the end.
Subhash Ghai is a genius in his specialty, sincere and dedicated in his work and I wish him further successes.
Smita Prakash is a likable lady with an infectious smile who brings in the interview a lot of day to day common curiosities in a nice way and for that I was glad despite many times not getting the answer from Subhash Ghai to her questions!

Wow! Wow! We had a VCR when I was about 3 years old & I clearly remember watching Ghai Sahab's Hero multiple times, among his other hit films. It is also 'Ding Dong, O baby sing a song' (of which I wished to know some background & the flute) & for which I absolutely love the film till today. Now when I reflect upon the impact of Hero in my life, I realised & it is a fact that before beginning to learn speaking in English I was singing in English. Thanks to Subhash Ghai! 😅 👏

Good interview with great anecdotes. However, he should been asked why he duped and replaced RD Burman with Laxmikant Pyarelal for the songs on Ram Lakhan. RD Burman waa signed and composed songs for the film but was replaced and that too came to know of it via a Film magazine. It would have given an oppournity to him to hear his side of the story.

Ranbir Kapoor was open and expressive because of multiple reasons like Bobby don't like to do interviews, Bassi (interviewer) was his onscreen friend in RK's last movie. AK has the energy to hijack the interview but AK has matured into being more of a wisined statesman rather than egear to spk, RK's Shamshera tanked thus getting validation in a dark action character is a huge tick.

seems another of the conversation in non political category with showbiz so called director mainly indulged in the template commercial film making with very few changes in the subjects of the so called era of 90s, need to see if the so called santoshis, the manjrekars, the sens, the ratnams and other technicians would be called for to gain their insights in broad terms !! the conversation covered the routine aspects mainly associated with the education and family background aspects, the journey to the film world and struggles, the so called film experiences and ordeals with various actors, the so called specific films, the so called film institute etc but missed aspects associated with the flop films and dealing with the aftermath, the working with specific set of actors only, the reason for not working on non conventional subjects, the future projects (if any) in OTT and digital space, the controversies surrounding some of the films, the outreach of actors and technicians from global standpoint and many others were ignored as usual!!
