At that price the razer cost about the same as a G16 with 4080, which will have the vapor chamber too. I know its not the same size but I would definitely be picking G16 over the blade 14 any day.
I have handled the G16 next to the G14 at least.. both impossibly thin, but the 16” is just such a bigger form factor. Felt way too big on my lap! More for a desktop replacement even with its thinness. 14” laptops are so much lighter and portable, especially this years g14 for the win!
@@crazyforiegner2 it's still a 16 inch laptop lol, if you're going by price to performance 16 inch gaming laptops will always be better value for performance, so overall the razer blade 14 stays as the most powerful 14 inch gaming laptop released in 2024
Just a suggestion: you could draw the touchpads with a red line, just so we can see the difference more clearly since the blade is black and is not noticeable.
Starting my Master's in architecture and upgradable RAM in a laptop is huge... Autodesk programs like Revit recommend 64gb for optimal performance in larger projects, and this will only go up over time. This option makes it much more enticing as a dual purpose work and play laptop for STEM students

Yes when he was talking about the screens. He said the g14 has an ips panel and a matte finish, and I think he meant to say that about the razer because the g14 has an oled screen and a gloss finish
If I would like to go for the performance, don't need OLED display (Like in Razer 14) then I would probably get neither of those and instead get the 2023 G14 model with 120W RTX 4070, selling around $1400-$1500 most of the times in Best Buy.
I don't care how much better build Razer Blade 14 really is. It's a overpriced laptop. ASUS Zephyrus G14 is damn well build and it's much cheaper. g14 is win for me. Once you try OLED display you won't go back to anything else. It's so much better than LCD. Asus G14 has way better speakers and microphone. It's important for company zoom calls etc.
The problem is you’re making assumptions about every consumer as if they have the same values you do. I don’t care as much about value - I want a small form factor laptop with decent performance and high build quality. I don’t care about OLED since I’ll just plug it into my LG C2 if I want that. The g14 also isn’t in stock anywhere currently, while the Razer is. My point = your opinion is valid, and so is mine. We have different goals, and that’s ok.
It's also only $500 more expensive than the G14 because the Blade 14 has constantly been on sale at Best Buy. Heck, you can get last year's Blade 14, which is very similar, for another $100 - $200 off. That makes it much closer in terms of price, and considering the better RAM capacities and the ability to upgrade it post purchase, the better build quality, and the more powerful CPU & GPU, I would only consider the G14 is you can deal with an overall worse laptop apart from the subjectively better OLED screen, which also has a lower refresh rate and has PWM flickering (I'm not sensitive to PWM, but I know some people are). The Blade 14 is worth the $500 more.
I do like the speaker, but I don’t like Liquid Metal and OLED. I spend 14+ hours every day with my personal computer, OLED is not eye-friendly. I like to move around with a small factor, the lighter weight of G14 is attractive, but it requires cool down first before moving, which is unacceptable.

Quick question since I might have missed this in the video - when doing battery tests are you doing it native refresh rate (aka 240 Hz for Blade 14) or is it normalized to something like 60 Hz? Asking because some laptops automatically go down to 60 when on battery but some stay at 240 (2023 Razer definitely did) and that can potentially get you 2 more hours on battery in some cases.

Hey Matthew, great comparison. I am considering buying the Zephyrus G16 from BestBuy Canada (since G14 and G16 are similarly priced). However, I don’t know how long I would have to wait to get a small discount on the purchase. When do you think the initial discounts will start appearing? Also is paying additional $400 for 4070 over 4060 worth it if the use-case would rarely appear?
Thanks for the vid! Think I might go with the G16 with the 4080 and 32 gb whenever its in stock. Great gaming performance is important to me which is why I considered the blade.. but when I can pay the same price for a 4080 with a 16 inch oled I think that's my best option. review completely misses the opportunity to talk about software. razer has god awful software with virtually zero customization. the g14 has an application called ghelper which replaces the armory crate bloatware. ghelper allows you to undervolt both the CPU and the GPU with virtually zero processes sucking up your RAM/CPU providing more customization than armory crate. i have a m16 (4070) and because of ghelper i can get max value out of my gpu with under 40 decibals of noise when undervolting and power limiting my cpu. matthew, you really need to include ghelper when reviewing asus laptops. using armory crate completely handicaps all asus laptops in your reviews.

In UK, the price difference is very narrow G14 £2300 (4060) £2400+ (4070,) Blade 14 £2150 (4060) and £2650 (4070, both colour amazon) last year blade 14 £2100.....
If anyone runs 3D applications, can you get away with 32GB of Ram? Or is 64GB Ram still needed? I usually work on architectural 3D renderings in 3ds Max + Corona.
This does not even feel like a contest, the G14 looks better, has better battery life, better portability and about the same performance at a lower price. The 2024 Blade 14 is a joke, Razer needs to wake up if they want to be relevant in the laptop space.
Really dumb move in my opinion. Very anticonsumer to pigeonhole people into buying the much more expensive 32 gb RAM versions since 16 gb will likely be much too little in just a few years time.
The G14 has everything to daily use, better screen, speakers and battery. The + on the Razer is only the performance but the price is far too much to justify especially now when its 2x the price.
Now really heistate between these two, as I can get Razer cheaply, but I have no access to asus exclusive price. lol, as a casual gamer.I think I may still go with razer after this review
great comparison matt, quality content as always. Please talk about these docked, and how that experience feels like. These are expensive laptops, folks who buy these would want to use them as everyday driver,
Like you said, it comes down to price. I really wish Razer would get a little more competitive, because the Blade 14 is a great laptop at a mediocre price
if I was buying a laptop to use it for 6-7 years, I wouldn't buy an OLED one purely due to fear of burn in. the extra ram is also too good especially upto 96gb and it can handle future engineering applications as well
I would buy the Blade if it were cheaper. I think for around 2200, it'd be a great deal. As things stand, though, the G14 is just the better deal of the two.
if i got a dollar for everytime matthew said “don’t get me wrong” i could afford both.

Asus beats the Razer at mic and video quality. By far.
Can you compare them with thelenovo slim 5 14 inch plz
They both lost me at no fingerprint sensor :(
Which one should i go for £100 difference between the two
I'd suggest the G14, the difference in battery life alone is game changing let alone the better display.
Ok... Convince me. What am I gonna do with an awesome built quality, when I'm gonna carry my laptop from work to home and home to work in a good laptop bag?
Convince me. What am I gonna do with awesome build quality and software of a $1000 iphone when all I do is make calls and do social media?
What am I gonna do with awesome build and features of a mercedes when all I do is drive to work and back everyday?
People love and are attracted to fancy stuff. Just because you're not doesn't mean others aren't.
@@fidelisitor8953 exactly.. that's my point
@@harikrishnanrajendran4032 Then speak for yourself! Why have anyone convince you? Just say you don't fancy it instead of trying to make it seem pointless.
Oled, G-Sync, Micro SD Slot (prefer SD but at least it's there), better customer service and $700 cheaper. ASUS hands down, there is no competition unless you are a Razer Fanboy.
*doubt* « better customer service »
Had a faulty panel on a 15 Blade 2019, they sent me back a new 2020 version
@@ad_d9 holy crap that's insane, nice !
@@RazielMessiah Yeah for sure! even if I have no doubt that Asus laptops are great, the customer service is shitty, Armoury Crate and every piece of software they make are horrendous. Don't get me wrong Synapse is horrid but less, and the build quality is way way above Asus, look at the hinge on it ._. Oled is great but I'm a bit concerned about brun in.
And in France, they are the same price for both, soooooo.
Ended up picking the Blade 14 2024 Mercury, just with an opened box at at 25% discount so yeah pretty happy. And I like the Mercury color, it doesn't jump at people eyes that's a gaming laptop.
@@ad_d9 I'm bouncing between these 2024 variants:
- ROG 14 (RTX 4070/32GB RAM) which is almost 400€ cheaper than the Blade 14)
- the Blade 14 ofc
- Acer Trident 14 (RTX 4070/ MiniLed 240Hz /32GB RAM)
- OMEN Transcent 14
I had the 2022 G14 model, changed the LM which was poorly applied by ASUS and managed to fry the MB even though I was careful AF.... I swore to never touch anything from ASUS but I doubt anyone can throw shit on how premium these ROG devices look and feel.
I'd really give the Blade 14 a go, even though it's retardedly expensive.... but I've read A LOT of bad stuff about their Software and batteries bloating ....
Still going for lenovo yoga pro 9i (2024). I am pretty sure even 14" version will destroy this refresh
Please make a comparison between the 2023 highest version g14 4090 to the 2024 highest version g14 4070 🙏🙏🙏🚀
How is gaming on the g14 4060?
Below the Blade 14 with a 4060.
G14 has a better keyboard. That’s such an important factor for me.
Do Zenbook 14 vs Acer swift go 14 2024
i'll pick g14 even if razer blade was cheaper thatn that....2nd gen oled screen ..better battery...sleek design...thin bezzels....not even close...
review completely misses the opportunity to talk about software. razer has god awful software with virtually zero customization. the g14 has an application called ghelper which replaces the armory crate bloatware. ghelper allows you to undervolt both the CPU and the GPU with virtually zero processes sucking up your RAM/CPU providing more customization than armory crate.
i have a m16 (4070) and because of ghelper i can get max value out of my gpu with under 40 decibals of noise when undervolting and power limiting my cpu.
matthew, you really need to include ghelper when reviewing asus laptops. using armory crate completely handicaps all asus laptops in your reviews.
You do realize that undervolting the cpu & gpu on the ROG would make it more weaker than the Blade right?
@@SG-Megatron Undervolting is not underclocking. Stable undervolting improves performance and reduces power draw.
I always read forum people complaining g14 barely go 2-3 hours of use , 10 hours really?
Well obviously you won't be gaming on battery power for 10hrs
@@Nanchon21 if was for game 2 hours would be good, but school use, web browsing getting less than 2-3 hours is kinda disappointing.
Gotta turn off the GPU. For web browsing and productivity I get 10 hours on my 2021 G14. If i had the GPU on, it would be around 4 hours of use.
@@fran.fndz.techart I can get 4-5 hrs of productivity on my 2022 tuf f-15 so unless something went very wrong I have a hard time believing 2-3 hours . I guess it all depends on how you've configured the power options

I thought G14 were OLED ???
Do omen 14 as well next time
I'll stick with my oversize jet engine legion , you can get 4080 for around the same price sometimes even cheaper
In UK, the price difference is very narrow G14 £2300 (4060) £2400+ (4070,) Blade 14 £2150 (4060) and £2650 (4070, both colour amazon) last year blade 14 £2100.....
And in China, the G14 is around £1300...... almost £1000 difference.
you mean blade 14 3:50
If anyone runs 3D applications, can you get away with 32GB of Ram? Or is 64GB Ram still needed? I usually work on architectural 3D renderings in 3ds Max + Corona.
Depends on what you do. If what you're doing is very RAM intensive, then the G14 shouldn't be considered.
@@cameronbosch1213 My focus is communities, SFH + commercial interiors and exteriors.
The Razer screen is PWM Free!!! That’s huge and really rare these days. I do NOT want them to go OLED.
This does not even feel like a contest, the G14 looks better, has better battery life, better portability and about the same performance at a lower price. The 2024 Blade 14 is a joke, Razer needs to wake up if they want to be relevant in the laptop space.
The absence of ram upgradable is the biggest problem in the Asus g14 2024
Really dumb move in my opinion. Very anticonsumer to pigeonhole people into buying the much more expensive 32 gb RAM versions since 16 gb will likely be much too little in just a few years time.
The G14 has everything to daily use, better screen, speakers and battery. The + on the Razer is only the performance but the price is far too much to justify especially now when its 2x the price.
This should've been a 3-way with the lenovo legion slim 5 14"
Hasn't been updated this year.
Now really heistate between these two, as I can get Razer cheaply, but I have no access to asus exclusive price. lol, as a casual gamer.I think I may still go with razer after this review
great comparison matt,
quality content as always.
Please talk about these docked, and how that experience feels like.
These are expensive laptops, folks who buy these would want to use them as everyday driver,
Armory crate remove and add ghelper ....you wont have anymore issue
The "don't get me wrong" comparison 🤣
Gracias, saludos desde Argentina
both of are op... but my mom dont buy it for to me
Sadly if I was keeping a laptop for 6 years, it wouldn’t be 2024.
Does anyone trust Razer's build quality? That's a serious concern for expensive laptops like these.
G14 has a much better mic
Not really. Both suck. I actually think the Blade 14 sucks less.
@@cameronbosch1213 Try and give it another listen. G14 is way less fuzzy and doesn't suck in any way.
@@ShadowInTheSandsrazerblade 14 is better in build quality
Like you said, it comes down to price. I really wish Razer would get a little more competitive, because the Blade 14 is a great laptop at a mediocre price
I found the asus camera and mic better
Will take the lcd anyday for better robustness in the long run
if I was buying a laptop to use it for 6-7 years, I wouldn't buy an OLED one purely due to fear of burn in. the extra ram is also too good especially upto 96gb and it can handle future engineering applications as well
What a baby
a laptop for 6 years? lmao
really? ips over oled... i dunno what to say....
@@VaydaladaVodaladaYou mentioned yourself? 😂
@@cameronbosch1213 who uses emojis on TH-cam? Stop meat riding
No! I insist on getting you wrong!
I'm still have the 2022 model😢
Longevity is important to me.
Once blade 14 will get an optional oled display and second ssd slot that would be the best gaming 14’ laptop. But not this year i guess.
And once camm comes and zephyrus gets that upgradable ram slot, it will automatically become the best latop cuz no one can afford that blade 14 lol
@@k1x16 who even needs a ram slot? 32Gb is enough for every game or office thing
@@kotenkostiantyn1282 Yeah, throw in an OLED in the Razer and it will jump to $3k.
I would buy the Blade if it were cheaper. I think for around 2200, it'd be a great deal. As things stand, though, the G14 is just the better deal of the two.
How is a ''thicker chassis'' more flexible than a thinner one. Makes no sense commentary wise in my eyes.
