Only issue is that i got it for 1899 dollars (4070 model) and wonder if i couldve gotten a better deal if id just waited a few months.
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately the ram is fixed. You'd need to decide on how much you'll be needing prior purchasing. Mine is a 16GB option and never had any issues.
Wow thank you for the feedback! I’ve placed the link to an Amazon Canada store in the description. Same specs and hoping you can find one on sale at your area!
Why doesn’t a single reviewer talk about how freaking hot the surface of this thing gets? I can’t even touch the keyboard it’s like the surface of the sun.
Sorry for the late reply. After extensive tests, I will rectify this with the a performance laptop cooler I got. Would be a great solution for those who already have the G14/G16
Planning on getting G14 for college, would you recommend it for an architecture student that will AutoCad, SketchUp, and other heavy rendering software like lumion?
100%! Even with editing on premiere pro and after effects, the laptop was able to handle anything I threw at it. The light and slim form will definitely be a big added bonus.
Hello. Might I please ask. Did you get it? What CPU/GPU did you choose? And are you satisfied with the fan noise and temps - both when doing normal tasks like writing reports with hundreds of tabs open, word, pdf viewer etc,... and also when under heavier loads like the simulations/rendering softwares you mentioned? I'm also looking to get a new portable lightweight laptop for uni (electrical engineering)
Before i purchased the laptop, i also pondered whether 16GB was enough or if i should jump for the 32GB...To be honest; 16GB works flawlessly for daily tasks. I usually have ONE primary software running at a time like Adobe Premiere Pro, or Steam, or whatever, and hardly twice because i usually focus on one single item at a time. But even when i forgot to close down apps, i've never had any stutter issues or slow downs with my 16GB set up. Also, when browsing, i dont have more than 5 tabs open at a time. YMMV but i believe 16GB is good for a good while.
@@paolocee Thanks for your reply! As an engineering student, I regularly run simulation software like MATLAB, TCAD, ANSYS, often with a bunch of Chrome tabs open at the same time. While I don’t currently use particularly demanding software beyond these, I would like to future-proof my purchases as much as possible. It's sad that they don't offer a RAM upgrade option without charging so much.
32gb would've been far better for me personally, but I've just dealt with it and anyway I saved $700. And, I came from a PC with only 8gb, so I'm just glad I have what I do :)
@@paoloceeThe G14 offer ended but I might consider getting the 2025 version next year if it's better. If it's shit I'll just get the 2024 G14 at a significantly discounted price
Hi, thank you for the great review. Just a question, I am planning to buy this and I would like to know if this can handle Illustrator especially when handling over 1gb file size of images? My previous laptop seems to freeze with larger file sizes. Thank you.
@@tropang90s76 hey thanks for the feedback! Yes I do use it for illustrator as well as adobe premiere. I usually put the laptop on performance mode before I do anything strenuous but with graphic design, I haven’t had any issues. Your miles may vary though as I don’t do super complex illustrations so perhaps research a bit more on illustrator specifically 😉
I have a doubt between the ROG G14 and the ProArt p16 both with a RTX 4070. Which one would you recommend? I'm undecided because of the Hz of the screen and the size cause the G14 is smaller than the proArt thats is 16". I'm going to use the laptop mainly for programming and a little video editing, but I'd also like to play some games (not competitive). Also I'm looking for an rtx 4070, so thats why I saw a g16 with a rtx 4060 but take me back
I was close to getting the Legion Slim but 14inch. 16 inch laptop, especially slim feel sooo much better these days so I cant blame you. I just needed something small and for this; I was blown away. If the Legionn Slim 14inch had GYSYNC, I probably wouldve gotten that.
@OlegSolomid depends on your interests but I was debating between the two tbh especially after loving the Lenovo Legion Go. But the Asus got me due to a good deal and I love that thin factor so I ultimately went with G14.
I was gonna go for the Zephyrus but ended up going with the Strix Ryzen 9 4060 Rtx as I don’t really need it portable for now anyway but Zephyrus is an amazing choice
@@sasan89 hey! It’s a dream when using for daily tasks including browsing, light workloads to even 4K video watching. It’s so light and definitely doesn’t get half as hot when playing AAA games. @@RozennBansal it gets very very hot that I need to get a laptop cooler or some sort of lap rest when I'm in bed. However, after undervolting, it became much better but still warm to the touch.
Yeah, I pulled the trigger coz it was on sale at a local computer store and was the last unit in the area province! If you can find it for a deal, id say for for it. The specs I got was perfect for me so even if it was "regular price", still believe its good value for what it is.

you said 4060 better than 4070. For the exact reasons what about a 4050 one? (asus tuf has that config) I want a quiet laptop with a better battery life. Mainly run some online games, where 4050 should be enough
@@mgerim thanks for the view and question. 4050 is good as a minimum for sure. I like the 4060 because the 4070 shares the same architecture and with the 4060, you can use GHelper to undervolt (really easy) to help save battery, give better thermals and then overall performance. If you need more, simply revert or change back to default. You have the flexibility and best of both worlds....👍
Is this the 4060 model? Im thinking about buying the 4060 model on thursday as a treat! I mostly just want to play fps games on it like team fortress 2 or non graphical games like roblox and maybe some higher end games.
Won’t even break a sweat at native resolution and highest settings for your games. Well optimized AAA games can even run at over 60fps. Hope this helps.
@@paolocee I was just a little nervous because of the 90Watts. Im sure its not that much different in FPS from 100 watts. And definitly should be faster than your average 3060 laptop
Yeah, embarrassing. I thought it was balanced out but rushed it. Will definitely be better in the next videos. 👍 EDIT: The keyboard does NOT get too hot to use. In fact once you stop playing, the computer cools almost immediately actually.
@@paolocee No worries Thank you for what you do. I had the original G14 with the 2060 and it would burn my fingers on the WASD keys, I assume this newest iteration is better? I’m trying to save up for this laptop
I recently got my own g14 zephyrus about two weeks ago, it’s my first gaming Laptop. I’ve been very concerned about how hot it gets while gaming, I was just wondering if 84 degrees Celsius is normal for gaming or should I get it looked at. Again it is my first gaming laptop so I don’t know if this is normal for it to get this hot?
Unfortunately for its size, that’s the literal physical setback is the heat. Recently i played Dave the Diver which wasn’t very graphic intensive and the laptop was fine. Then I purchased Mortal Kombat 1 on steam and for this, I had to keep airflow going. It’s a 14inch ultra slim laptop that unfortunately will have physical set backs like this. One suggestion is to underclock your gpu to lower its temp threshold which may even result in more fps!
Heard about those and definitely hope Asus addresses these issues. They make truly cool stuff that is innovative and different like the Zephyrus Duo and the new G16. These things perform outstandingly well but on the other side; support is just as important since these devices are pushing the envelope of performance. Personally, I’ve had zero issues with all my Asus products so far; I know that good airflow when in heavy use is important; keep my devices up to date and secure, and simply just giving it proper TLC goes a long way. Hopefully these new G Laptops have improved since the last RMA round of issues with prior products. As for the laptop itself, I still recommend it. That’s my two cents. Thanks for the comment!
Im using rog strix GTX 1650ti, decided to upgrade into G14, wich one so you reccomend the 2024 or 2023? I know the anime matrix is rly cool, but i dont think its worth for the 2024 new features…
@@Virxslrx In my honest opinion, 100% yes to the Logitech. it was designed to be a mouse for Productivity and it definitely works that way but it's also an amazing, durable gaming mouse. Ive brought this mouse in all my trips around the world and despite its size, I was able to cram it in my bag and it just takes all the pounding. Years later, there is now a MX 3s Mouse which is the next step up, but mine has held on. Cant recommend it enough and yes, I bought it with my own money ;) Hope tjhis helps!
Hi there, I’d say quite powerful. I’m not honestly a huge console gamer but if i have the capability of enjoying every PC game that ever existed, plus with emulation can eventually play PS5 games on it, I’d say the G14 is the better buy. Plus you can take it with you with that beautiful OLED screen 😅
I have had a Asus Rog Zephyrus G14 2021 model that had a WD SSD and Realtek Wifi Card. But this G14 2024 model has some SSD which appears to be local since the laptop hangs when it heats up. Also, the wifi card is also Mediatek. The SSD supports speeds of upto only 4900Mbps read and 3500Mbps write which is quiet low for a GEN 4.0 SSD. Also, the G14 2021 waked up from sleep in under 1 second but G14 2024 does not.
When you are using the onboard screen for on the go gaming, do you wish for the 16 inch version, or is 14 inch fine? I play stuff like league of legends and overwatch so was wondering if the size difference would matter hugely on the go?
@@mobeen369I’ve got both a 16in laptop (MacBook Pro) and this G14 as my 14inch. I think the impact of how light and small a 14in laptop can be; let alone can play AAA games is mind blowing that I don’t even think about the size of the screen since the bezels are so slim; I can call it the new 15inch size standard and the 16inch laptops are now the 17inch standard. I get a lot done with the 14inch and think you should give it a try as well 😉
The ram is soldered in, so what you buy is what you get. There’s only one ssd slot (which is already filled) so if you want to upgrade that then you’ll have to swap out the preexisting ssd and copy windows/your data over or reinstall it on the new one.
Yup well said. I opted for 16GB of RAM since I am using this primarily for portable gaming and light browsing for the most part; I never needed more. The SSD is just a 1TB M.2 2230 SSD, I had the urge to upgrade to a 2TB but with the included microSD card slot, I simply keep all my movies and temporary large files that I transfer between storage and this computer and just delete when im done with them! So therefore and I've never ran short of space. I really dont think you need a 2TB drive on this thing; I usually keep one or two AAA games installed followed by smaller games that are more casual and short. Thanks for the replies and feedback!
@@HATCH5T I think the weight (3.3 lbs) and good gaming performance makes the G14 a strong consideration. These new G14 and G16 laptops are basically the lightest 14/16 inch gaming laptops out right now without sacrificing too much in performance. Also a huge plus for me is just how much more subtle they are and not loudly screaming to everyone that they are gaming laptops.
Hi, how are you able to record your laptop screen without it becoming all blurry or record the screen with max brightness and not have everything else surrounding it all turn black ?
Hey sorry for the late reply! Wow, I didn’t really think about it but I do set my cameras shutter speed to 60 frames per second since I shoot 30p video. It’s most likely matching the refresh rate of the monitor 😁 As for the surrounding areas not turning black, my focus point is specifically on the screen which then focuses exposure compensation based on the screen. I use a Sony Alpha A7 camera and it’s pretty advanced.
@@paolocee I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Ive messaged so many people but youre the only one to actually reply. I really like the style of your video. If you dont mind me asking about your setup, how are you setting the light and the light temps? I'm trying to watch a bunch of videos on proper lighting but I'm having a hard time figuring it out.
@@Hamzimza Hey for sure! I was in the same boat and I think the main main thing that made a massive difference in my shots is that NOW, I use one Key Light; the one I have is from Godox which has a "HoneyComb" attachment on it. This is very important because it gives that "Dramatic" look whenever the light is angled around 45 degrees. The temps I use normally are around the 5600k mark but I do have lights around the studio which can "Complement" the surrounding lighting. On my camera, I've got my aperture set to around F5 so that it get dim enough for me to edit it in Adobe Premiere to brighten up if needed without too much bokeh or blurring. Because cameras now are so good, especially full frame cameras, even when shooting in the dark, you can bring it up in post production. Finally, what you shoot, or the subject matters as well. The colours of what youre shooting should have items around it that complement the colours of the product to make it pop. My studio is dark on purpose so that all focus is on the product as much as possible. Hope this helps! Im genuinely excited to see your progress!
@@paolocee Thank you so much, I truly appreciate the help. I will work with what you've told me and see how it comes out. Love your style and looking forward to more videos.
Just bought it today, and its extremely hot when touching it. I tried playing a game and got this pop of of a candle which I assume means the fans needed to be stronger at the moment. Is anyone else experiencing that? What can I do to make it not get as hot?
I suggest downloading G Helper and learn some unvolting. There’s a lot of tutorials on the app That will help you with the thermal and even performance issues. 👍
Nothing you can do except getting a good coolpad and undervoltin the GPU and lose on the performance factor. I returned mine for this very reason, 75 on idle is crazy, 100 on heavy load is also crazy not to mention the fact that the exhaust vents will blow the hot air into the display to the point where the OLED starts to show white spots because of the heat.
@@OM-cv2yb My solution was a cooling pad + under volting, now i get 60fps on pretty much all games while temps on both cpu and gpu stay under 75 degrees
@JayCutlerTalk With a good cooling pad, it still gets hot to the touch, but the temps it gets to arent dangerous for the hardware, i get around 40-50 C on idle, and around 70-75 in a game like cyberpunk 2077, however I do recommend lowering the voltage bc that was the main thing that causes the crazy temps if unregulated
Hey dude, it provides up to 100W Of power which is sufficient enough to charge the laptop when not using at 100% like AAA gaming. Quite frankly, I’ve mainly used just the USB C since it’s so convenient. Thanks!
@@paolocee hey thanks bro for the info! also i wanna ask, if I game while plugged in Type C @100W, whats the power share between CPU & GPU, not gaming AAA Titles but games like Genshin, Wuthering Waves, CS2 & PUBG at Medium Graphic and how much FPS can I expect?
Yes. I was heavily contemplating getting the 32GB but it wasn't available at the time and I really wanted the G14 for travel. Never looked back and never had a problem.
No. An rtx 2060 is decent but a laptop version max q variant is super underpowered and you don't get the latest Fram gen stuff with 30 or 40 series. See if you can find a cheap 3060 laptop for 900 dollars or less...thats worth it

Thanks for the view. I’m recommending it coz I love it overall. If you physically check the G14 in person, it’s amazing how a slim computer can even provide equivalent graphics power of an older 3060! My advice is to not focus on the immediate specification and adjust your expectations for a small laptop, designed primarily for portability. If you want full power, save the money and get an actual gaming desktop.✌️
I prefer the 4060 primarily because it draws less power and when undervolted, will provide the power i need for this device - 4070 is better if you're planning to keep it plugged in at all times.
Yeah, I used to think that way as well. However I do get a solid 2 hours around minimum with Ghost of Tsushima and more for lower demanding games. It’s not that bad.
@@thecowegg From other reviewers, you can get about 6-10 hours of battery time with everyday tasks. This is generally better than other 14 inch gaming laptops.
It depends on the games you play if you wanna know how hot it gets. For me, It only ever got super hot (like, it burns my lap) for me playing AAA games like Ghost of Tsushima. With RPGs and Lighter games like Dave the Diver, it was good to the touch at medium temperature. For ultra-light games, video, browsing, instagram etc, it is super cool to the touch; a completely different animal when on light use. Only issue is that i got it for 1899 dollars (4070 model) and wonder if i couldve gotten a better deal if id just waited a few months.
It’s amazing! Yeah, fans turn on and gets a bit warm but I do like the versatility this thing gives within its small portable form.
what are the highest specs for this unit?
Same as what I have but with a 4070 and up to 32GB Ram if I recall
can it be good for machine learning?
Is this laptop ram upgradeable from 16 gb to 32 gb
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately the ram is fixed. You'd need to decide on how much you'll be needing prior purchasing.

@okanuluturk2186 it was available at the local computer shop near me. In Canada, black seems to be available along the white easily.
watching this vid on a g14 felt different 🙃❤
I love that, my G14 is my daily driver. Even thought I have bigger, better devices
, the G14 is my overall favorite
would you say it’s good for engineers as well?
Pretty much. Even for heavy duty tasks, the i9 despite being under clocked to be on this form factor, is still quite powerful!
The screen wobble is something to keep in mind
Never had any issues with wobble on my G14. YMMV with this one I think.
Been loving my G14!
Me too! 👏👏👏

Honestly, if you’ve got a decent GPU, I’d keep it until a mobile version of the 5000 series comes up.

How is your experience with only 16GB RAM? Is it more than enough for day to day tasks and even demanding tasks?
@SiddhantB9 I feel you. Perhaps getting the 32GB model works better for you overall. The device can literally be your daily driver 💪
32gb would've been far better for me personally, but I've just dealt with it and anyway I saved $700. And, I came from a PC with only 8gb, so I'm just glad I have what I do :)

How about recommending this laptop when Asus doesn’t have rma issues.
Thanks for the comment!

hi, how powerful is this laptop compared to a ps5?
Hi there, I’d say quite powerful. I’m not honestly a huge console gamer but if i have the capability of enjoying every PC game that ever existed, plus with emulation can eventually play PS5 games on it, I’d say the G14 is the better buy. Plus you can take it with you with that beautiful OLED screen 😅
I have had a Asus Rog Zephyrus G14 2021 model that had a WD SSD and Realtek Wifi Card. But this G14 2024 model has some SSD which appears to be local since the laptop hangs when it heats up.

@HATCH5T yes. I would say so. The weight, the power, and that sexy screen will have your school sooooo much more fun and bearable to go through 🙂↔️
