    It does matter, bc I have mold growing in my air vents now, it’s a huge mess and health issues with bugs that love mold and mold mites too…so get the water out before you end up with a bigger issue.

    Very informative, thank you. I was wondering about the best way to go about this, mold and possible electronic issues if it is not done properly. I do have a little mold and some rusting bolts because it appears his car has been leaking for a long time now. I might just be replacing the carpet depending on what is available at the local Pull a Part :) Certainly something to look out for if one is purchasing a used vehicle !

    Hello. I have damp and waterlog in my rear footwell foam under the carpet behind drivers side on my Fiesta ST. Everything else is dry, rear boot no water, liners and all other footwells appear to not have water when I push on the carpet. as the car had sat so think already had water in it. Roughly how much would it be to dry the foam under carpets?

      I’ve got same problem with my Ford Focus mk3 2011.. The garage had to drill extra holes in boot area as it was filling up spare tyre area , carpet on floor at passenger side is absolutely soaking! Drivers side fine... nightmare ... I read there that it seems to be a reoccurring problem for Fords 🤨
      Update.. problems carried on so traded it in.... Ford never again!!! 😅

      Focus mk3 has vents behind the rear bumper that allow water to build up inside until it overflows into the cabin floor. You can remove the bumper and seal around the vents (there are four of them) but the quicker solution is to look under the bumper and in each corner there is a black rubber bung, pull that out and let the water drain, then pull out the wadding through the hole. Then take the wadding and the bungs and throw them in the bin as they serve absolutely no purpose, the vents and cavity are for cabin airflow and the wadding is just sound deadening. Terrible design + sub-standard materials x poor build quality = modern Ford. Never again

    What if your carpet is damp smell, what would you reccomend to get the smell out ?

    • @CarWaterLeaksFound
      @CarWaterLeaksFound 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This will be a result of mould, so you need to start with anti-microbial and antifungal disinfectant.

      @@CarWaterLeaksFound do you mean like Lysol?

    • @CarWaterLeaksFound
      @CarWaterLeaksFound 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RAMSSUCK. We don't have that in the UK, but what i can see, that is similar to Dettol, which has a strong smell.
      We use the same disinfectants which they use in hospitals, and of course Dettol was used in hospitals for decades. But it's best to find something without a perfume.

    in my Vauxhall Meriva A , the Passenger side front and back carpets are soaked. I cannot find the leak having looked everywhere. When i brake hard i can hear a rush of water towards the front passenger door in the floor somewhere. Someone suggested it may be in the side skirts but i cannot find any evidence of leaking from there and when i stuck a stick in from the top it came out dry. Checked sunroof drains but all working good. Its doing my nut in. Any ideas, much appreciated, cheers.

      I don't think we have done a Meriva. I'm afraid there are dozens of places that could be leaking, rear vents or lights, door membranes or screens. Leaks are difficult to track down and you just have to keep looking until you find it.... and then keep looking because it's not rare for cars to have several leaks when they get to a certain age. Sorry i can't be of more help.

      I bought a Vauxhall Vectra today and didn't realise there was water in the front and back passenger footwells until I'd got it home!
      This video helped me find and fix the leak: th-cam.com/video/2VGr7jqDd8s/w-d-xo.html
      Your Vauxhall might be different, but it's worth a try.

      @@lukesymmons Nice video, never did find where it was leaking in from, but cleaned engine bay including similar drain holes in my Meriva and has been dry since, fingers crossed stays dry too. I found the sloshing water eventually, it was in the side rails that run between between both wheel arches. Turns out my car was undersealed by a previous owner and they covered up a one inch plastic bung. Once i found it and pulled it out about 3 litres of water came pouring out, left the bung out now.

      @@DAM89 how did you get it dry? Did you do it yourself or get it professionally cleaned?

    You should have shown the equipments used

    • @newagainautoreconditioning
      @newagainautoreconditioning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We could do next time, although I'm not sure that would be much use to most people, as our equipment is very specialized, very expensive and runs off three phase power. It isn't the kind of thing you can get down the hire shop. But essentially we use an industrial extractor, air movers, and dehumidifiers.

    Not in many Hondas: they use some type of foam beneath thick rubber mat on tof of which there's the carpet. In this way the foam soaks all the water and the thick rubber mat on top can't make the water in the foam to evaporate, trapping the moisture. With time the rubber mat breaks and the carpet on top gets wet. All with mold smell and mold on top of the carpet. Stupid japanese engineering.
