Saw this video too late. I had the same issue, contacted alpha Rex about it and they never got back to me. The hyper flash drove me so nuts I stopped using my turn signals all together because it was a constant reminder that my $1000 headlights weren’t working properly lol. Sold the truck a few weeks ago. Thanks for sharing this. Now I won’t hesitate buying alpharex again, loved them.

Just installed mine and got the hyperflash issue on the drivers side. Waited 65 days to get them and then this. They are sick looking but this shouldn’t happen…
I have a 11 Tacoma with the factory DRL and the 12-15 front conversion. I already have the alpha Rex tails. Curious to see if I will have hyper flashing or not when I get my headlights
I sure hope that I have that already when I bought the Headlights , it comes with 1 DRL Converter , and you buy a pair of Converter Harness kit . I'm guessing maybe of those 3 black boxes , 1 is a resistor >?
Hi there, I am recently just installed these onto my 2013 Tacoma, and I don't get my DRL's or turnsignals. Everything else seems to run properly. I am have some contact with Alpharex, but nothing has been resolved yet. Do you have any advice? Feeling bummed they are not working properly.
I would Kill for that Hair ! It either turns loose or turns grey , and mine has done both ..... Thanks for this tip that I probably will encounter after I install mine on my 2007 X-Runner .
Great video. I currently have a similar problem on my F-150 Alpha Rex send me a pair of harnesses and supposedly should solve the issue, but it didn't work, yet they sent me a new set of headlights, but the issue persists. Do you think I have the same problem you had?!
I have the same hyper flash issues. I contacted the seller who pointed me to alphare. I contacted alpharex but having difficulties obtaining support/ just spinning my wheels. Can you advise who to contact to obtain the resistor to fix my hyperflash issues?
The AlphaRex DRLs stay on all the time. We just resolved this issue by installing an electronics manager and will have a video come out in the next few weeks that will go into it a little further!
Yes, that is all that should need to happen. Just be sure to confirm that your wires your about to tap are the turn signal leads just like we showed in the video, you are merely adding resistance to that circuit so your computer thinks the incandescent bulb is still there. Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any other questions you might have!
It would fix both bc that’s the only reason your taillight is hyper flashing bc the front one is doing it as soon as you fix the front one it should control the back one
Is this only an older car thing? I have a 2023 4runner with this issue and I’m in the middle of communicating with Alpharex and they don’t think this is the issue
If you have LED turn signals on front and rear you can get rid of the resistors and replace your turn signal flasher relay with a LED specific one. More streamline, no worry of resistors burning up, bad connections, and lower voltage consumption. Just a different way of correcting hyper flash.
Thank you for probably the most explained version of the relay fix we have ever received. We will look into that for sure to help guide others with that info as well in the future!
I had the same issue, make sure all the prongs in the male end of the plugs are straight and not bent. My issue was one of the prongs were bent and not going into the female end correctly making the turn signal to hyperflash. I zoomed in to the video and it kinda looked like one of the prongs were bent
Do you mean that the harness is actually plugged in correctly? I'm having hyperflash when my turn signal is on but they already have resistors and it's only on the passenger turn signal
In my case, one of the metal prongs in the headlight plug was bent over, not going into the holes making the headlight hyperflash. Just look inside the plug and make sure all of the metal prongs go into the holes in the wiring correctly. I did not use a resistor.
@@alfredopeliajr.9229 ok I'll check that cause mine have already resistors attached to the headlights and only the passenger side will hyperflash when turn signal is on
Can you provide the part number of the provided resistors and confirm what their resistance is? I thought you said they were 100 ohm which sounds pretty high as I've heard others that had to install resistors on their LED headlights only needed 5 to 6 ohm resistors.
We are currently away from home but as soon as we get back we can confirm that for you. They are definitely 100 ohm from I remember. I also am not sure if they sell it. All we had to do was let them know we had the issue and they sent them out to us
in my case, i had both alpharex headlights and tail lights, had hyperflash. They sent me resistors and told me to put them on the tail lights, problem fixed. so i guess adding the resistors on either or works fine 👍(this may or may not be right but I think if you have oem tail lights and you install alpharex headlights you wont have hyper flash issue because there is already resistors built onto the headlight)
That’s interesting, it really seems like hit or miss with this issue. Just recently talked to another individual asking about some other options he found to fix the problem as he wanted to be able to correct them during the initial install. had same situation as you, he installed both new AlphaRex headlights and tail lights however he ended up not even having the problem with either one. I’m sure this is why they don’t just send the resistors initially with the product, they likely only have some that experience the problem and have no way to tell which sets will experience it. Maybe it’s all situational.
What year is your Tacoma? I just installed the same headlights to my 2015 Tacoma Limited and I didn't have the hyper flashing turn signal, because I have a led bulb on my rear turn signal which I have installed the resistors for that reason 😅 maybe since they are powered by the same line that's why I didn't have that issue when I installed my Alpharex NOVA Series.
Loki is a 2014 TRD Off-road, we’ve been getting a lot of mixed reports of others either getting hyper flash or not with a variety of situations. Some have had it just installing the tail lights and some have had no issues at all with the same headlights and taillights installed just like us. From what we gather and based off talks with AlphaRex customer support it’s just random as to wether or not it will happen between the product and the truck itself. But either way it’s awesome to hear about your experience and that you didn’t have to hassle with the resistors for your install, it wasn’t bad to do just another step and added stuff is all. Thanks for sharing!

Wouldn't replacing the flasher with an LED flasher be an easier fix for the hyper-flash?
It would normally, but the wiring in the later 2nd gens 2012-2015 is way different. If you change the relay the front light will not flash at all.
