There's a saying that basically goes "Never underestimate an old man in a job where men die young," which Christopher Lloyd portrays perfectly in this film.
I haven't checked your full watch list. If you haven't seen it you should see Denzel Washington in the movie version of The Equalizer and its sequel. Its a lot like this one with the homemade weapons.
I know you guys don’t do trailers very often, but I’ve got one you 100% neeeed to make an exception for. It’s a movie called The Creator, from the director of Rogue One. I hadn’t even heard about it until today, but trust me… you won’t regret it and you’ll be tip of the spear when everyone else starts posting reactions to it.
Funny that you called it john wick meets home alone because apparently this movie is in the same universe as john wick. Basically the law enforcement side of john wick world.
There's a saying that basically goes "Never underestimate an old man in a job where men die young," which Christopher Lloyd portrays perfectly in this film.
The portray of the guys is much more realistic than the fight itself, in my opinion. There are locations in my city, where you only run into these kind of guys all day. A very common thing nowadays.
28:17 Hutch's daughter literally said "Dad, we need a cat" in the scene where she came down to join him on the couch and he asked her if it was because she was scared by the burglarly and she said "Why would I be? You're here" more or less demonstrating that she was the only person (including himself) who wasn't disappointed in him.
I like how realistic it was that he had to get hit a couple of times before he got his groove Also like the change of a mob boss who wants to quit being in the mob and just want to sing
One thing you notice on a rewatch is that Hutch is very rusty at the beginning and becomes a better fighter in each confrontation until the end when he is fully "that guy" again.
I also love that the wife is awesome. Usually they are portrayed as disappointed, misunderstanding, and angry. She is the perfect complement to him. Little things elevate the film above the usual drivel.

Man can we all agree on one obvious fact - Bob Odenkirk is a genius? My god is there nothing has can not do - brilliant comedy writer & comic actor, great dramatic actor and now a friggen action star????
As gory as you might call this movie, the kill shot on the big bad guy always amused me for how sanitized it is. If you took a claymore at point-blank range, there wouldn't be a body, there'd just be a bloody mist and unidentifiable chunks sprayed across a couple hundred yards.
Claymores have less conventional explosives than other mines. The damage is mostly caused by the dozens of steel ball bearings that it shoots, which is pretty accurately represented.
@@andrewlavoie6034 Imagine a doll set directly in front of a shotgun barrel, and then consider just how much damage would be done to it. The damage he takes in the film is wildly less than what he would have taken in reality.
This all started because he never took out the garbage. The pizza box was part of the garbage that should not have been there to block the door if he hadn't missed the garbage man repeatedly in which case the desperate inexperienced couple would probably moved on to find another house with easy access to rob. That being said, he would've eventually found any other reason to finally explode and regain what he was missing in life.
Oh, good catch. I thought the robbers used a pizza box to jam the garage door before it fully closed automatically. But seeing as that they're indeed unprofessionals, your interpretation makes more sense.

The tattoo on Hutch's wrist is of a 7 and 2 of spades. One card should technically be a club though. But this is the worst hand to have in Texas Hold 'em and is known for being worn by special forces teams as they are known to survive the worst conditions
the tattoo on his wrist is the worst possible hand you can get in poker, but still possibly win with. soldiers who were dropped into the worst fighting conditions/battles and came out on top had that tattoo

Most of it actually feels fairly usual for a film of this sort, yet the way everything is presented is great! The pacing is perfection, the musical choices are fully on point and then you also have strong cast performances. Bob Odenkirk is of course (rightly) super acclaimed for that role as a certain lawyer elsewhere, so it's nice to see him doing other things. He is superb in this from beginning to end. Fun fact: the tattoo the old vet sees on him is a military tattoo for servicemen who were put into an impossible situation and still came out on top. The reason it’s those cards is because that’s basically a “impossible hand” in poker in which you have a probability of zero of coming out the winner if you play that hand instead of folding.
Him going after the kitty cat bracelet is not supposed to be extreme or the last straw. usually when ex military sais " oh i was an auditor/mechanic/mundane-non-combat-job" ? they was john wick ; S.O.A. edition. they was the guy slitting throats and disappearing into the night without a trace.
Bob, said the idea of the movie came from a home invasion he had in real life, he managed to lock the invaders in the basement till the cops came and he was not happy with how they handled it so he start fantasizing about how he would have handled it if he was more like a bad ass and the character of Hutch was essentially created as a result
Fun Fact: They wanted to give Christopher Lloyd a bunch of plastic shotgun replicas for the final shootout. He insisted they gave him real ones so it really looks like an old man carrying an excessive amount of shotguns. Hence his kinda stiff, shuffling walk.
If it’s not been mentioned before that wasn’t nice delicate barb wire that one guy got wrapped up in. It’s called razor wire and instead of poky barbs it’s like having razor blades woven into the wire with sharp blades about 3/8 inches long. Instead of tangling in your clothes it will dig into your skin.

Notice that Hutch's dad has the same 7-2 Suite tattoo? It's revealed when he turns the tv noise down.
14:06 Here's the beginning leading to the bus fight scene for you all who are curious.
He didnt only want a family because he was jealous he was jelous because he wanted a family and that other bad guy was able to have one theres a big differance
usually when ex military sais " oh i was an auditor/mechanic/mundane-non-combat-job" ?
they was john wick ; S.O.A. edition.
they was the guy slitting throats and disappearing into the night without a trace.
He was 57 years old when he filmed this
He said he trained for two years to get stronger and fight choreography
I thought it was awesome
Bob, said the idea of the movie came from a home invasion he had in real life, he managed to lock the invaders in the basement till the cops came and he was not happy with how they handled it so he start fantasizing about how he would have handled it if he was more like a bad ass and the character of Hutch was essentially created as a result
Just goes to show... everyone needs a freezer gun. Such a fun movie... great reaction.
Fun Fact: They wanted to give Christopher Lloyd a bunch of plastic shotgun replicas for the final shootout. He insisted they gave him real ones so it really looks like an old man carrying an excessive amount of shotguns. Hence his kinda stiff, shuffling walk.
Always look for a closing credit scene. The dad and the brother have a brief, closing scene.
we now know what kevin from home alone did when he grew up
The family that slays together stays together. 😉🤣
just to let you guys know the audio glitches out at 16:36
The creators of this movie said it takes place in the same universe as John Wick, i hope we get a John Wick reference in future movies
John Wick meets Home Alone is a pretty good description! 😁
It always brings me joy when RZA pops up in a movie.
You guys have a fun vibe,it's nice.
As a Veteran that has been thru some things. You try to forget and not re-live or engage in it again .
Don’t know if someone told you, but you missed the after credits bit.😂🤷🏻♂️
eyyyy ending credit scene 😆 great reaction guys 😊
Yullian chose the guy in the bar because he was the only one not clapping when he got off stage
"He's not a killing machine" 😂😂
If it’s not been mentioned before that wasn’t nice delicate barb wire that one guy got wrapped up in. It’s called razor wire and instead of poky barbs it’s like having razor blades woven into the wire with sharp blades about 3/8 inches long. Instead of tangling in your clothes it will dig into your skin.
I had to laugh in the beginning of the video when you guys were like let’s see who gets killed or taken 😂😂😂 well…
You guy's watching this ...I feel like that young girl on the bus...yay, you saved me from some bad guy's (reactions)
Idk why I laughed so hard when kacee said let him cook
She is already so pretty 😍🥺 with those glasses on, I can’t 😍😍🥺🥺🥺
I love how kacee's shirts says classically trained teetees😂
