16:05 The writers made getting killed by doorbell so much fun. 😂😂 21:04 "You dead John?" I love how that even though Caine is baiting John into responding to give away his position, he does sound concerned about the fact that he really might have killed his friend. In theaters everyone remained silent because it felt like Caine was listening for all of us to slip up and make a peep. 😂
Fun facts: Akira is played by singer, Rina Sawayama and was hired by the director after seeing her choreography in her music videos. She performed the song for the initial end credits. Killa was played by martial artist and movie star, Scott Adkins. He's under heavyweight makeup. Also the scene where the lady is telling the other assassins where John is was right out of the 70s classic, The Warriors
8:30 the deal The Table made with Caine is to leave the table he can never see his daughter again. Can blinded himself so he could never "See" her again, but would go to the park to hear her play. The Table probably knew he did this for a while, and waited till they needed something from him to address his technical breach.

He is trained in Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, Ninjitsu, Capoeira, Krav Maga, Wushu, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Jeet Kune Do, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Acrobatic Gymnastics. He was wearing a fat suit for the role, but it could be an interesting fight scene under other circumstances. Another great reaction. Cheers!
Came here to say this. Probably one of the few people that could be described as a modern Stallone or more like van Damme, 80's style action stars. But he can fighter better too.
Tracker is my favorite character in John Wick 4. He has the gear he needs to track his target. His a Bounty Hunter, Gunslinger, has a Devcore Backpack which has bulletproof vest, Custom Marlin Rifle, Revolver, and best man friend a dog. I hope he comes back in John Wick 5.

I noticed something when John & Caine were going up the stairs near the end. At one point, Caine sticks his sword through John's hand and John pulls the blade through his hand, like at the beginning of the movie. They made a pact to work together. Is John really dead? Well, just because he has a headstone doesn't mean he's dead. He may just want everyone to think he's dead so they'll leave him alone. It all comes down to whether there is $$$$ left to be made with episode 5.
John Wick becomes John Constantine - from death he acquires dark arts and sorcery/occult power. And now to take down the table that turns out operated under spawns of hell.
I love Koji's sacrifice because besides his code of honor of brotherhood its also that he KNOWS that he and his daughter will be chased after by the high table for the treason of helping John Wick. It's the reason why when Caine said, "take care of your daughter" Koji responded with "I AM." Him & his daughter know that Winston's concierge Charon was killed as a consequence. Don't forget, HIS DAUGHTER AKIRA IS HIS CONCIERGE 😢
it's so interesting to see everyone's reaction to the end of the film. Some felt John died, while others think he lived. If you follow the film cues you can tell John is very much still alive. Caine and John were pulling their punches during the duel, even you guys noticed it. Their plan was literally to get out by tricking Marquis. Also, the conversation between the Bowery King and Winston, should of been another clue. The King asked if John was in Heaven or Hell, and Winston said "Who knows", that is when the king realized John is alive and laughed. The last major clue John is alive, is that there is fresh grass where his grave should be. That's impossible. Let's be real here, John went through much worse in prior films. those three gazes didn't kill him.

That gun blasting fire in the mansion scene is a shotgun with whats called dragon breath rounds. Its blasting white phosphorus all over the dudes. If you know anything about white phosphorus its extremely hot and sticks to what it touchs. Extremely effective against people and brutal for that matter. Its pretty showy and not great for the barrel of your gun but it made for a really sick top down scene.

No, they could do that but i would cheapen it. They killed him off in a very poetic fashion. He clearly died....he saw his dead wife dude, and Winston said goodbye to his gravestone.
19:02 Funny you should say that, because that one armored soldier laying there in the background was only hit by nunchucks by John Wick and not stabbed/shot, meaning he might be one of the few ones who could've actually survived John Wick.
33:35 That's actually a great idea honestly. But if you didn't notice, Scott Adkins is the actor playing Killa. This is actually a reunion for him and Donnie Yen. Scott played the evil Drill Sergeant from Ip Man 4: The Finale who has a duel with Donnie Yen.

I agree! Cool video guys! My take is John was really the WORST FRIEND EVER! From having a beloved friend die protecting him and everyone even linked to him suffers or dies up until the final moment where he involves his best friend into a deadly duel to the death. Watched the movie 3 times and i witness series of events that solidify John Wick's position as the epitome of "Friendship Fails."😀 Yet, amidst the chaos and destruction, there's a peculiar charm to John Wick's loyalty and unwavering determination. So, while he may be the worst friend ever, we can't help but credit him for keeping us entertained and reminding us that true friendship can survive even the wildest of adventures. The radio announcer is a callback to the 1979 movie - *Warriors* . Set in New York, dozens of gangs are chasing the Warriors gang throughout the night who were falsely accused of breaking city gang rules. The announcer gives continual updates to the chasing gangs on the Warriors gang location. Great movie, BTW.
My theory is that assassination is so common in this movie's universe that most people ignore it unless they're directly involved, which is why so few people seem bothered by the fights going on around them.
I don't think John is dead all you see is his grave no funeral. What better way to plan revenge on the table than to let them think you are dead because revenge is best served cold
At the theater, I missed that John didn't shoot. I was thinking that SOMETHING was going to save him from that fatal shot, but I didn't know how. So when John did it, I was thrilled.
Keanu has headlined 3 franchises and could have had 4 if they’d done more Speed films. Matrix, John Wick, Bill & Ted. He doesn’t get enough credit for it. Untouchable
I have never been as physically exhausted in a movie theater as I was for John Wick Chapter 4! During the entire 3rd act we go from one of the most intense car chase / car fighting scene, to one of the best shot action sequences I have ever seen during the abandoned building fight scene. I felt my fingers go into the same crab claw shape when I play video games on pure reflex when it started to look like so many LITERALLY over the top games I grew up on! THEN we get the insane stair fight, which every single step John fell down I practically felt just watching (and I’m starting to believe that both Keanu Reeves and John Wick are actually part Saiyan because every time he gets beaten to rear death he comes back stronger and deadlier). Then we finally get to the duel and thank god It was long enough in the end that we saw the look on the Marquis’s face when he realized he fucked up!🤣🤣🤣 As for the ending, it’s recently been announced that they are working on John Wick Chapter 5, plus I already believed he survived because the perfect retirement is where everyone thinks you’re dead.
Are we not going to talk about the fact that Mr. Krabs delivered the message to destroy the Continental and also oversaw John's pistol duel at the end? I accidentally blurted out loud in theaters when he came onscreen, "Is that Mr. Krabs??" and we all burst out laughing. 😂😂😂
25:35 It wasn't his honor. He did it to protect his daughter. The table would come for him for going against them and that would put his daughter in danger if she by his side. Once he dead though, there would be no reason to seek him out. Therefore, his daughter would remain safe.
Arnold as Terminator, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Christopher Reeves As Superman are some other honorable mentions for iconic characters played multiple times by the same actor that you know AS that character mostly
I love that the radio station updating on John's location? It's ID is WUXIA. A direct reference to the martial heroes genre of films with a /long/ list of entries, probably amongst the most 'recent' well known being Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Hero. The whole sequence is also a reference to the movie The Warriors, which has a similar journey across city, whilst updates are given via radio. For bonus reference point of course, the head of the clean up crew from first Wick movie, Charlie, is played by David Patrick Kelly, who was the main antagonist in The Warriors .. :D
So she said in the beginning of he movie that the bounty for JOHN WICK's head is 40 M but it was just 20 M until the end the raised it to 40 M, that implise that she already saw the movie.
Every John Wick raises the bar for modern action movies. They are love letters to the genre. They left it a little vague whether John is dead or not, so its open for him to show up.
"Those who cling to death live, and those who cling to life die", John had said in previous films he wished to keep living to remmeber Helen, but he finally accepted the dead are gone. That was the point of his and Cains conversation. Truthfully John wanted to die to be with her, he hoped for it, but death never came. At the end he finally accepted it, he was free, his struggles were over, and truthfully? Getting sucked back into the life was part of his grieving and coping, it gave him purpose after Helen's death. He finally was free and could live his life, but now, he wanted it, and so....he died. Thats how I interpreted it anyway.
7:54 Donnie Yen was actually the one who suggested his character in Rogue One be blind. They loved the idea so much that they wrote the character that way. I dont know if if he asked for this film. But being a blind action fighter in Star Wars probably influenced Caine in this film.
Those awsome shotgun shells are "Dragons Breath" rounds. They are like $50 a round! Expensive boogers. I think they just fired off the national debt in that scene!
About the post credit scene, Chad Stahelski, the director has said: "It's funny, we shot that, there's a real scene that goes along, like Donnie coming up, you think he's got it, and then Rina goes and gets him, and then there's this whole death scene with Donnie Yen dying. We had a whole thing where you actually see the demise. But we watched it and I kind of felt like, “Well, that's not as cool as not knowing.” Like, does Rina go down that road? You know, we have John Wick and his demise, and we’re like, “Well, let's open the door to the new John,” like, “Who's the new…” And we're like, “Akira.” She's got the motivation. She gave John the ultimatum. John chose not to honor that, but he chose to honor something much bigger. So, we had this whole scene and we're like, “Well, that doesn't really say what we want.” It was a little too much, and we didn't think it was really nailing it. So, my editor Nathan Orloff had a nice idea and was like, “What if we don't see it? What if you leave the audience to that? What's the choice?” Rina has a choice, she opens the knife, but does she actually, you know, hit Caine with it? And we're like, “That's awesome. Let's just try it.” And added in another interview: "We did have versions of that scene that we actually put in the movie, pre-credit, but we didn't know if that was the right direction. I like not knowing if Akira actually did something or didn't. What choice did she make after that cut? I love the character of Akira, and I love the character of Caine, so maybe that's her transformation into what John Wick had become - or maybe she does the morally good thing and doesn't make the next move. But those are two characters I'd love to see again, personally." And honestly? I really like the ambiguous ending between Caine and Akira. And i truly want to see more of this universe.
39:24 - Caine says, "They didn't take them. I gave them." It's a direct continuation of their last exchange at 27:20. "He'll make it your choice. Think twice before accepting." And ultimately, it was his choice.... he could pull the knife out, or he could pull his hand out. His choice. They must've put Caine in a similar situation with his own eyes.
"A blind man, a guy with a dog, and John Wick walk into a bar. That either sounds like the beginning of a stupendous joke, or our most profitable opportunity."
It is a masterpiece. And an instant crush on the Japanese Concierge. My roommate watched the film for the first time last night and she loved it. Her comment about the the girl was about that incredible suit the girl had on under her kimono. LOL As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. (I know you this but...)
40:35 You are probably thinking of "throw down the gauntlet." In Medieval times a knight would throw his gauntlet at a man's feet to issue a challenge.
I rewatched John Wick the day after i saw this and like the matrix, the original remains the best. Similar to the fast and furious movies, it just tries to raise the stakes and gets stupid and cartoonish. I still enjoyed every sequel in this franchise but the first movie is just untouchable.
John Wick Chapter 5 has apparently been confirmed 4 days ago, but it's been green-lit and canceled in the past so who knows? They also mentioned that they would be interested in a 5th installment if the viewers were ok with another movie, and the spin-off movie with Ana De Armas is supposed to also have John Wick as a supporting character and/or cameo but plans with movies change a lot so it's up in the air at this point
Fun fact Keanu Reeves cut a lot of his lines in the movie. He felt John wouldn’t say all they scripted. Keanu also gifted all his stuntmen personalized submariner watches and gave the rest of the stunt team shirts that showed how many times they met their demise on the film. 30:14 Skarsgard’s character is acting independently of the table though. The table gave him full power which is why Clancy’s character was questioning him about his tactics with the Continental. 1:05:03 now is he really dead or is “John Wick” dead and he’s got living another life? They stopped 5 after Covid but they’re toying with doing another one whether it’s a prequel (which would be cool) or they show him in a different life somehow getting drawn back in. 1:07:52 they do have a spinoff coming out called Ballerina which is Lance Reddick’s final completed film.
Loved all four of these movies and btw the only dog not to get hurt was the pit bull John rescued from the vets as it was to be put down isint it ironic 😏
I really like that they had Clancy Brown starring in this as the Harbinger. Just his on-screen presence was enough to make the stakes that much higher.
They missed a BRILLIANT chance with the Harbinger negotiating the duel terms to end it by saying "and as far as a victor, gentlemen, there can be only one." 👍🥲👍😁
Another fun fact: the Marquis' right hand man is played by Chilean martial artist Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins' (Killah) nemesis in the movie Undisputed III: Redemption. Both are Martial Arts legends of their own.
It's no way near as famous now, but when Keanu was younger, he was known as the actor who played Ted Theodore Logan from "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." I get the impression that Keanu brings faint bits of that character to some of his other roles. When John Wick says, "Yeah!" I hear an echo of Ted saying "Whoa!"
I was thinking that maybe John arranged it so he could be left alone by having everyone think he's dead. But when they walked away with the dog, I dont know. I would think if he were alive he'd have taken his dog with him.
52:00 Now that Kacee mentioned the angle of this scene, was inspire by the videogame "The Hong Kong Massacre".which uses the same top-down angle and muzzle flashes.
Masterpiece of a movie, saw it the first day in the cinema. Also i'm very skeptical about John's death. Is John really dead? Well, i don't think so. Just because he has a tombstone doesn't mean he's dead. He may just want everyone to think he's dead so they'll leave him alone and probably take down the table in John Wick 5, because i saw 2 days ago that John Wick 5 is confirmed to be in early production. He is most likely alive and probably moving around named Jardani, like the name they gave him in the Church. He probably wants to get rid of John Wick 'The Boogeyman' as for now. As i said we never saw him die, we never saw his body. Kane took the same shots as John and he remained alive. I'm definetly looking forward for John 5.
i don't think it would be cheap for john to fake his death, although a lot of the dialogue did point to his death, john has survived way worse than 3 bullets. two of them didn't even hit vital points, so it's not too hard to believe imo. i think they purposely made people question wether he's dead in case they have an idea for the sequel.
You guys listing action actors are missing the point of the comment he said action actors that are known for multiple roles. Like Harrison Ford for Han solo and Indiana Jones or Sylvester Stallone for rocky and Rambo. There are not many.
A John Wick 5 has been announced to be in early development by the studio. That could always fall through though and Im pretty sure Keanu has said that he is done with the franchise for now. There is also a spinoff coming next year called the Ballerina starring Ana de Armas. That will probably focus on a female character from John Wick's "family" the Belarus. You get a quick glimpse of them in the third movie.

yeah Homer just kept on slappin folks.
Then we finally get to the duel and thank god It was long enough in the end that we saw the look on the Marquis’s face when he realized he fucked up!🤣🤣🤣
As for the ending, it’s recently been announced that they are working on John Wick Chapter 5, plus I already believed he survived because the perfect retirement is where everyone thinks you’re dead.
Just something you didn't catch, that weapon John was using in the top-down angle fight scene was a shotgun with Dragon's Breath ammo.
Clancy Brown is just that good.
Been dying for your reaction to this glad you both loved it
Klaus is the Groot of John Wick :)
I kept waiting for Donnie Yen to shout "Are you kidding me? I'm blind!"
55:34 John Wick be like "Fuck this shit" and became Sonic The Hedgehog
25:35 It wasn't his honor. He did it to protect his daughter. The table would come for him for going against them and that would put his daughter in danger if she by his side. Once he dead though, there would be no reason to seek him out. Therefore, his daughter would remain safe.
Arnold as Terminator, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Christopher Reeves As Superman are some other honorable mentions for iconic characters played multiple times by the same actor that you know AS that character mostly
I think he means actors who have multiple iconic rolls in movies
Tobey as spiderman, chris evans as captain america and bale as batman
@@Roberto-ut6bc Arnold is the T-800 and Conan.
😅😊
I love that the radio station updating on John's location? It's ID is WUXIA. A direct reference to the martial heroes genre of films with a /long/ list of entries, probably amongst the most 'recent' well known being Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and Hero.
The whole sequence is also a reference to the movie The Warriors, which has a similar journey across city, whilst updates are given via radio. For bonus reference point of course, the head of the clean up crew from first Wick movie, Charlie, is played by David Patrick Kelly, who was the main antagonist in The Warriors .. :D
Seeing JW4 in the cinema was a unique experience. It's phenomenal. Hey, there will be John Wick 5! It's something to look forward to.
19:02 well you can't play dead because a few minutes earlier you see John shooting corpses to make sure they stay dead. XD
John Wick never fails at killing time with the enterteinment and awesome action scenes that make time fly .😌👌
Fist that came to mind was Sylvester Stallone in Rocky and Rambo.
@Dos Cavazos The whole bounty over the radio bit was a callback to the film "The Warriors".
Lex Luthor was the Harbinger.
Another actor playing iconic characters is Al Pacino as Tony Montana and Michael Corleone
I swear, a Mr. Nobody spinoff would be cool! There were so many great characters in this movie!
A whole movie of him camping on the sidelines. Sounds like a movie.
@@crankfastle8138 he could do a lot. Not hunting John Wick. Some other contract. He would be the main character doing the insane shit.
@ ehhh, all these suggested spin offs is starting to feel like the MCU now.
Fact: John Wick has 439 total kills in all 4 movies.
Thanks for info
Mac: "Dennis what is all that stuff
you're grabbing?"
Dennis: "T-TOOLS! ITS TOOLS! DUCT
TAPE, ZIP TIES AND GLOVES,
I HAVE TO HAVE MY TOOLS!"
Have to love the dichotomy of wearing a Pokemon t-shirt while watching a film about a guy who brutally murders a bunch of people. 😄
I love you guys!!! Your commentary and reactions are so genuine and the best 😊
7:54 Donnie Yen was actually the one who suggested his character in Rogue One be blind. They loved the idea so much that they wrote the character that way.
I dont know if if he asked for this film. But being a blind action fighter in Star Wars probably influenced Caine in this film.
The blind swordsman is a common trope in Asia. The Zaitoichi movies were probably a big influence.
Those awsome shotgun shells are "Dragons Breath" rounds. They are like $50 a round! Expensive boogers. I think they just fired off the national debt in that scene!
About the post credit scene, Chad Stahelski, the director has said:
"It's funny, we shot that, there's a real scene that goes along, like Donnie coming up, you think he's got it, and then Rina goes and gets him, and then there's this whole death scene with Donnie Yen dying. We had a whole thing where you actually see the demise. But we watched it and I kind of felt like, “Well, that's not as cool as not knowing.” Like, does Rina go down that road? You know, we have John Wick and his demise, and we’re like, “Well, let's open the door to the new John,” like, “Who's the new…” And we're like, “Akira.”
She's got the motivation. Let's just try it.”
And added in another interview: "We did have versions of that scene that we actually put in the movie, pre-credit, but we didn't know if that was the right direction. I like not knowing if Akira actually did something or didn't. What choice did she make after that cut? I love the character of Akira, and I love the character of Caine, so maybe that's her transformation into what John Wick had become - or maybe she does the morally good thing and doesn't make the next move. But those are two characters I'd love to see again, personally."
And honestly? I really like the ambiguous ending between Caine and Akira. And i truly want to see more of this universe.
39:24 - Caine says, "They didn't take them. I gave them."
It's a direct continuation of their last exchange at 27:20.
LOL
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. (I know you this but...)
I might also include Daniel Craig for his role as 007 and as Benoit Blanc in the " Knives Out" movies.
40:35 You are probably thinking of "throw down the gauntlet." In Medieval times a knight would throw his gauntlet at a man's feet to issue a challenge.
I might be wrong but I think there's also a scene in a looney tunes where either bugs bunny or daffy duck slaps the other with a glove. 😂
The weapon shooting the sparks is a shot gun using dragons breath shells, which use magnesium pellet's instead of lead or steel.
I rewatched John Wick the day after i saw this and like the matrix, the original remains the best. Similar to the fast and furious movies, it just tries to raise the stakes and gets stupid and cartoonish. I still enjoyed every sequel in this franchise but the first movie is just untouchable.
Sly with Rambo & Rocky two huge franchises. Love you all great reactions.
Can’t wait for the next installment. I love this franchise. So fun and entertaining!
I really like that they had Clancy Brown starring in this as the Harbinger. Just his on-screen presence was enough to make the stakes that much higher.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought they were going to dual Yu-Gi-Oh! style
Vin Diesel has F&F, Riddick, Triple X, AND Groot MULTIPLE ICONIC CHARACTERS 💪🏿😂
Iconic, not douchy and borderline retarded.
Scott Adkins throwing kicks in a fat suit was surreal! 😂🤣😂🤣
They missed a BRILLIANT chance with the Harbinger negotiating the duel terms to end it by saying "and as far as a victor, gentlemen, there can be only one."
👍🥲👍😁
Another fun fact: the Marquis' right hand man is played by Chilean martial artist Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins' (Killah) nemesis in the movie Undisputed III: Redemption. Both are Martial Arts legends of their own.
iconic actors with multiple iconic characters: Giancarlo Esposito is getting there
Fun fact, Klaus is a bouncer at the infamous Berghain nightclub and has a reputation of being very strict with who gets in.
John Wick kill count drinking game? You wouldn't last 10 minutes.
i don't think it would be cheap for john to fake his death, although a lot of the dialogue did point to his death, john has survived way worse than 3 bullets. two of them didn't even hit vital points, so it's not too hard to believe imo. i think they purposely made people question wether he's dead in case they have an idea for the sequel.
Tom Cruise: Mission Impossible and now Top Gun. Arnold: Conan and Terminator. Stallone: Rocky and Rambo. Jackie Chan: Police Story, Rush Hour.
You guys listing action actors are missing the point of the comment he said action actors that are known for multiple roles. Like Harrison Ford for Han solo and Indiana Jones or Sylvester Stallone for rocky and Rambo. There are not many.
The amount of people that completely missed that Warriors reference absolutely kills me
A John Wick 5 has been announced to be in early development by the studio.
Both the star and the director said they would never say no. They just didn't know where to go from here and they both have other projects pending.
