I lmao at the skeleton enjoying the metal yard work at the start of the video. Also you brought back memories from my nursing days when you tripped. I want working in a nursing home & there was a lady who yelled at me every time I went in front of her door because she said I was gonna step on her dog. No one was allowed to go across that area. One day I came be-bopping along & tripped over nothing. She looked at me & said I thought you my dog was there. And said "That damn dog trips everybody ". Now even though it's been 30 years when I do it now I say "Damn dog", in her memory.

That's what we called our Middle School that was temporarily located (2 years) at the old Ft Lauderdale Naval Air Station from the 1940's.. the Lost Avengers crews were stationed there and Vincent Price even filmed a show on them and the Bermuda Triangle while I was there. We got to watch the filming in the afternoon. 1968-69, how cool is that for a school!

Hey Adam, I'm currently exploring Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Good to see most of everything is still here after the fires! Hope you make it out this way.

    • @shilothepup9357
      @shilothepup9357 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Unfortunately the fires only destroyed some of the BEST things about the area and not the overpriced gaudy junk that they now call "Downtown". it was a gorgeous/wonderful place in 1973 when I was there as a 15 year old. I returned at 57 and swore I'd not go back, but that only lasted a year as my son wanted some of the Old Smokey moonshine. Had a fun time (sarcasim) finding a parking spot at $10. Had 30 minutes to find the shop (end of town), but got a case. That's heavy stuff when you're toting on your lap in a wheelchair!. Did get to help a newly married couple who's car broke down though; and got them a new battery at PF Walmart and they did the Camp Wally World that night as hotel rooms were at $300 a night. THAT is why I won't stay there either. Hope you enjoy yourself and hoping the "Alamo" restaurant gets rebuilt...it was an excellent place to eat.

What a gorgeous stone bridge from 1820 out in the woods, with a stream running through. The covered bridge was very nice as well. Two places most people would not see in South Carolina. Fun vlog here, Thank you, Adam.

i just tumbled to my knees yesterday on green moss on concrete, extant means still existing, pennsylvania has i think twelve existing covered bridges, one in clinton county, then knoebles has one well two a walk covered bridge and one that goes over to the camp grounds, not sure where the rest is but there is a covered bridge tour sometime in PA, but hopefully its not over you can go on bus and go around the state... interesting today keep things rolling on down the highway... roll on 6 wheeler roll on

Katie and I love love your
      Videos, any who for your
      word (Extant) which means
      {easp.of a document) that's
      still in existence or surviving.
      Here's an example sentence
      A celebrated author who is
      Generally regarded as America'
      Greatest novelist extant. 2nd example
When people envisage the future, they
Often base their predictions on the

Though the interstates were made to get people to their destinations safe and easily. This is Amazing to watch the roads less traveled. The architecture, the country, and the people of the area. It's Great to see Our United States from Adams perspective. Keep your eyes open folks Adam and Large Marge just might be at your front door.

They were..........once long ago. But people being the idiots they are always want to be somewhere.... now. I love that Adam shows us the roads less traveled since the Interstate Highways have "killed" many of the little towns that thrived on travelers before their advent. I travel them also and meet wonderful folks. please do yourself when you have time.

Have you been to the twin city yet? Batesburg-Leesville SC, once two towns each with their own downtowns and main streets. Now its one town. There is a robot on a dirt road in the country that once lit up and the arms moved...it was massive. Its still there if you are daring enough to find it. People drove from all over the state to see it back in the 60s and 70s. Lots of history in Leesville which is very old. Great video.

Recently on a trip to NYC I got stuck in some bad weather and my flight was cancelled, and I needed to be there within about 24 hours. The closest I could get to NYC on a plane was Columbia, SC, so I took a flight there and then a 16 hour train to NYC. Gotta say, I felt a bit like Adam the Woo as I traveled along the railroad exploring the east coast. Love your stuff Adam!!

A few random things strung together... that Kenworth tractor (attached to the UPS trailer) is a nice ride. My brother sold big rigs like those (Peterbilt and Kenworth mostly) before he started his own landscape business. There is good money in the sales end of them. Also, you're so right about getting off the beaten path. When I and my wife were in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area in March we went all over the place. In the Smokey's, and into some valleys where we found a local cemetery from the 1780's. We stopped as some of the monument types headstones were just spectacular to see. Many were Confederate era soldiers. It was actually a private one as you had to have roots in the area and only after approval could you be buried there. We took some pictures but didn't stay long as there was a caretaker home on the grounds and we didn't want to be disrespectful. Plus stay away from the midwest area. WI, IL etc. It's rainy and flipping cold! I feel like it's London in winter right now. I don't know if we will warm until sometime in June. Also when we went to Tennesee we did see a lot of people with RV's doing about 60mph. Seems a bit more stable with a higher profile vehicle. Plus if you're going to ride in the back of a pickup make it a Ford. Not a cheap Toyota like that. And before anyone complains my Ford was still on the road after many of my friend's other trucks went the way of the junkyard. Safe travels sir!

Covered bridges & their surrounding scenery so....majestic. :D It reminded me of a covered bridge in North Blenheim, NY. I went there with my cousin years before it was destroyed in a flood in 2011. It looked like the one you walked on with the old boards and looking through the cracks to see the creek/river below. It was the longest single span wooden bridge in the world according to what I found on Google & Wikipedia. My cousin's hubby carved our names into that bridge. Pretty sad to think that it's gone now.

The artwork on the visitors center is a eagle carrying a palmetto tree with a gull at one end and a gamecock on the other (all SC state symbols).

As a native North Carolinian, welcome to our lovely State!! If you're on I-26, I hope you stop in Asheville and see some sites. Maybe a Biltmore House tour? Jacob the Carpetbagger went west of there to the old closed down Ghost Town In The Sky once, I think... Lots to see and do in western NC for sure. Enjoy your time here!

Adam, have you ever been to the filming location of the movie The Color Purple. I was there in the early 90's and it was a great trip. At that time the owner of the farm was Mr. Huntley.
