What I love about LOTR is that the non-heroes don't feel like NPCs. You see the Riders of Rohan actually killing Wargs and fighting back and not just being fodder while the main protagonists do everything.
I always like to watch the background action. In the shot where Aragorn grabs the spear, in the background you can see a warg, a horse and the rider roll off a cliff. Pretty crazy!

I really love Gamling's bravery. After Hama's death he become one of Theoden's top commanders and fearlessly charge into battle without a second thought.

Sadly, If you think about it this was also about the only accurate battle in the entire series except perhaps in the first movie in the mine (first attack). What I love about this scene is that it proves that Theoden had a point when it came to Helm's Deep. While going to Helm's Deep was still a mistake, his worst fears of his people being picked off in the open were justifiable. That nightmare very nearly came true just with Saruman sending a small Warg army.
The sound of that warg when the last arrow from legolas is released...you dont even see it and you already know legolas wont miss a single shot, ever. This trilogy makes the difference on the little details.

Tolkien work in the R.A.F during the WW2, so this a representation in how the British pilots went to fight during the Battle of England. The Whole scene is a tribute to the said by Churchill to the Pilots after the battle "Never was so much owed by so manyto so few".
seeing legolas in combat as a 6/7 year old back then.. i mean he was my hero honestly, even though it was CGI, the way he hopped on that horse after shooting those arrows across the field was such a sight to see
3 of the best trilogy movies ever made. The first film especially provided me with a lifelong nice memory. I’d read the books, and seen the animated film as a kid. Then went to the cinema to watch the first movie and the opening scene of the shire was so faithful to the book the hobbit , I just laughed to myself and sat back and was totally immersed in the film for the next 2 .5 hours or so , sounds a bit dramatic maybe, but for me that’s great cinema , when it captivated and moves you. Great trilogy of movies.

Gimli is very lucky to be a Dwarf considering his situation. He had two wargs and an orc on top of him, which would be at least a thousand pounds on him. Since Dwarves are a sturdy bunch, he just ended up being uncomfortable without breaking any bones with at least a thousand pounds on top of him, If he was Human he'd be dead right about now

Elves have super human agility in Tolkeins world. The movies brought this to life in the best way.

When they are climbing Caradhras you will notice that Legolas isn't leaving footprints in the snow., that's because elves are weightless.
If i recall correctly, they somehow did that digitally, and it was a ton of work to get ot right.
