Still better than CS whatever may be... and Call of Duty !! Weapon handling/ funtionality still the best and the fire select and safe... 😍😘 Even in R6 Vegas 2, that I like, weapon functionality/ animations are lacking :( That trash CS GO cannot achieve even this... :(
If i recall, reloads depended on your class. If the weapon was one your class was 'proficient' with, reloads were faster and smoother. Like Heavy and Demolitions could load shotguns much quicker. But if you were a class that wasn't based around a weapon, say a Recon picking up a shotgun, your reloads were slower. Which i think was a neat detail.
And to note most of the major fps game are focusing on ww2 settings on that era , rockstar is pretty bold for this one setting and it suceeded

This was before R* dude. Their old name is Barking dog studio, those guys are helped Valve to making Counter Strike Beta 5 since 1999. And this game also get inspired a lot from Counter Strike.
i wish we've got a remake of this game but with just slightly remade animations with more natural looking hand moves than the stiff ones in the old OG . and reworked gun models. because the "AK" in GO was a Chinese Norinco , just cut the front sight in half and make the magazine more curved and you got a true authentic 100% Russian AK , reworking also the Olympic M4 cause it was apparently a semi-auto carbine model, and making it a true military M4A1 model with full-auto firemode. and adding new hands moves to the G11 reload empty anim , with one hand pressing the top back button which allow the mag to be released , putting a fresh one then turning the charging lever downside the gun. sadly nowadays Electronic arts has clearly no interest into remaking one criminally forgotten gem since already two decades . instead they just impose us another Battlefield or FIFA.. let's hope one amateur team would finally give GO an new life in High Definition then. pffffffftt i hate having impossible projects in head, maybe in another life who knows...
And maybe better voice work 😆 don't get me wrong i loved this game as a kid and I'd Love a remake/remaster. But it's pretty hilarious to listen to a guy bleeding out request a Medic like he's just asking for a soda refill at a restaurant lol
For an old game, the animations are on point. Trigger discipline and not flicking the revolver's chamber.
