How wide do you roll out the dough? When I roll it out I always then to make it too wide and run out of the filling because of that.

I agree with Just Tyto. Your dough is way too thick.

I’m Croatian and Italian, and I tried this recipe before attempting my Italian Grandma’s larger version.
The nut roll turned out fine, but it was FAR from sweet enough. Grandma’s recipe calls for at least 3/4 cup of sugar per roll. This recipe tastes very bland.
Also, others trying this recipe need to know there’s NO WAY they’ll be able to whip the egg white into that thick stuff without a high speed electric mixer.

At about 2:30 it goes from egg white to some magic cream before our eyes... You forgot some steps, useless!

    Woah woah woah hold up.
I'm sorry I don't know where you got your recipe and each to their own but that. That is not potica. Your dough is way too thick. Sure it may be an Americanized version but still I would work on your recipe.
I'm sure it tasted great though. :)

do you think it has anything to do with the way the yeast is proofed? I am trying to perfect mine, and this recipe has the same basic ingredients, but I proof the yeast in milk and sugar before. I would love your advice. I don't want a thick dough

I roll the dough out thinner for sure. I am just surprised by the chocolate chips, never eaten that variation before.
