- Bourbon hunting is always a surprise, sometimes great, sometimes crummy. That's what keeps it exciting!

"If you haven't had Caribou Crossing...Don't! It's awful." LOL
Still Austin Red Corn BiB is really good, also like the Blue Corn...
Gunna tell ya a secrete , this is for everyone but let’s keep these at 20-25$….. so take the full proof bench mark and blend it with the bonded benchmark ……….and your welcome. Get the mix right you end up with EH Taylor, George stagg, and Eagle rare… again you have to get the blends right …but thank me later yall… but seriously keep it down so the prices don’t jump, now you can try and blend the other Benchmarks and basically get a younger version of all the monster allocated
I love the Full Proof for the price but that sounds like a plan TY 🥃
Last month was Bourbon Heritage month and Binnys did me very well,My beloved Heaven Hill BIB for 36
OGD 114 for 22
1792 Small Batch for 22
Knob Creek 9 year for 24 not sure if I've ever seen it that low before and a little secret 🤐 Binnys Clark and Sheffield BIB is 1792 BIB.🥃✌️
That Rockford Woodmans is known as “Mecca” around Chicagoland. They put out unicorns at the counter on a regular basis at msrp. Totally random timing but seems to happen on Fridays
the amount of people that stand around waiting for things to be released in that store is next level cringy
@Despite37 😮
Absolutely, I’ve been there maybe 3 times but have never gotten lucky. For people that live in Rockford it can be a gold mine
You should have checked out Binny’s in Bloomington while you there in Normal!
I'm in the northern suburbs if Chicago, Woodmans is the best, cannot beat the prices. Binny's is great too, have amazing sales, picked up Green River Full Proof for $39.99, amazing. Each Woodmans seem to have their own different Single Barrels which is cool.
I was also up that way a couple weeks back, hit up a Benny’s in downtown Chicago and walked away with the BT Kosher rye and wheated mashbills at msrp. I didn’t see the heart release though, so lucky you!
heart release is awesome
707 is my home town lol
Same. Just grabbed a bottle of lagavulin 11 year Offerman charred oak edition for relatively close to msrp
I bought all the bench marks and the full proof is the best. I think they are all worth the price though.
Good to know!
Binny’s gets some good store picks on occasion due to corporate size. Have an Eagle Rare pick i got at the BloNo store!
Binny's is in Bloomington too. Hy-Vee is in the same parking lot. Next time your in Bloomington-Normal you should check them. Hy-vee is marked up little but not terrible. I got my The Heart at 707 too. There is a "Bourbon Hall" in LeRoy(30 mins east of BN) called Oak and Flame that has a GREAT selection. Tiny town you wouldn't expect to have such a gem. They are only open like three days a week and limited hours but they have a "tasting room". The pours are reasonably priced.
Thanks for the tips!
If you find yourself driving south around Matoon Harry's gas station no I didn't misspell that it's worth a little time with a pretty surprising selection especially for a gas station.
some of the prices are gross, others not bad
Costco in St. Louis has the Heart release for $50
Yes…took them long enough!!
Just discovered your channel. I'm just delving into whiskies & I like that your reviews, though geared toward whisky folk, are still understandable & accessible to non connoisseurs, like myself (an artisanal tequila guy) who are, however, familiar with other spirits who may want to experiment more with whiskies.
Subscribed.
Awesome! Thanks for joining
I feel the same way about Elija Craig as you do the Weller.
I live in Belvidere, IL. Binny’s and Woodman’s in Rockford are my go to stores that I frequent 2-3 days per week looking for drops. Got a Baker’s 13 at Binny’s last week and a Knob Creek 18 Year last week at Woodman’s. I got 2 Weller 12 Year 2 week’s ago at Woodman’s for $43.98 each. 🥃
Nice!!!
Pretty good haul...
I tried the hearts release a couple of weeks ago and thought it was pretty good, wasn't a fan of the 2024 Cellar Aged at all. I'm pretty curious about that Jimmy Red, hope you do a review. It had some popularity around the middle of last year for a couple of months and then just stopped hearing about it...I generally go for "off the wall" bottles like that but have only seen the 90 proof bottle a couple of times and never pulled the trigger...I probably would have bought the BiB also, if had come across it.
You could have stopped in Springfield at Binny's. Are you in STL?
Yeah I’ve stopped there before. Great selection as well, figured I’d try a new spot.
Awesome you were able to snag two of the heart release. I haven’t seen it around Stl yet.
From what I’ve heard, it’s not coming here 😕
As of today, I saw a post that Costco SoCo has it!!
Wow I’ll have to try and snag it. Thanks for the heads up.
Grain to glass I seen for $200 in person already
I passed up on the Makers Mark heart release for $74.99 in Naples Florida a few months ago and I haven’t seen it since here in Missouri. Really kicking myself on that one.
😫
Next time in illinois reach out!
I live in the western burbs of Chicago
@enotrilogy shoot me an email! I probably wont be up that way for a while, but happy to connect
I drove 6 hours to Knoxville to pickup bottles I cannot get here or to save some money. Not all Total Wines have similar prices. Bardstown Goose Island is near wholesale in Knoxville, but double that in SC. KY locations JD barrel proof sitting in the low 50s range. I picked up Lucky 7 Frenchman, 1792 Full Proof, the Bardstown Goose Island, Still Austin bourbon & rye, Junction 35 experimental. Junction 35 Bam Bam vodka tastes like fruity pebbles, head and shoulders above 3 Olive's Loopy. I saw a Blanton's and pointed it out to my wife for $170. Told her I could pay secondary or buy 2-3 bottle of other whiskeys. I think a lot of people see allocated as something to obtain and the price is relative to the unicorn they're hunting. Instead they should be comparing it to their favorite pour. Is that one bottle worth 10-50 bottles of my favorite whiskey?
