    This swamp boat came with one of my favorite figures as a kid, Copperhead. Really cool to see this in such a right out of the box condition.

    Yeah!!!! VTR Friday!!! Woooohoooooo!!! Awesome restoration dude, I actually remember the water moccasin, a friend of mine had that and the hydra foil when I was a kid, superb video as always Dave.
    I enjoy the odd restoration here and there, but my skills are very much inferior to yours, but I do enjoy the challenge.
    And I sincerely hope you don’t get any dislikes pal, whilst I understand to a point people not liking repro parts been used in restorations, it’s YOUR vehicle, it’s not always easy to get genuine parts, and even harder to source unused decals, In fact it’s virtually impossible.
    Exceptional video Dave, and top guy Jeff for helping👏, really enjoyed it 👌

    Personally, I don't mind repro decals one bit. I don't think they diminish the value of a vintage item, rather they add to it. They may be "new" so to speak, but they look much better than old dusty, faded, bubbled, or heat warped vintage decals. As long as they essentially mimic the originals, who cares? They display better, & definitely give new life to what some would consider "old junk." I collect for myself, & have a huge army of all this stuff. It's not to resell or pass off as original, & once restored much of it looks closer to new than it has in 30-40 years.

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I don't think there's any harm in restoring some of this 'old junk' back to its former glory. Some parts are perishables, if not worn now, they will be - stickers, elastic, rubber o-rings etc. Having said that, there are definitely situations where originality counts. There are items which I haven't touched for different reasons such as scarcity, it's history etc. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a message 👍

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! 🙏 It is a great vehicle, I hope to make a display with the Dreadnoks! 👍 They become upset as the new decals are seen as reproduction parts, and some people regardless of the context, will go out of their way to squash any activity like this! 🤷‍♂️

  • @2000sonydude
    @2000sonydude 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have too been told not to use reprolabels. However, when the stickers get bubbles, ripped or straight just fall off. I rather have my toy look good than to have missing stickers, ripped, bubbly stickers. Great job, I just don't disassemble the vehicles since the plastic has gotten super brittle over the years. 40 years is a long long time.

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, there are perishable materials in all of these items so at some point they're gonna need refreshing!! I like to disassemble where possible - obviously I don't do this on rare or valuable stuff 👍

  • @SmugglersCanyon

    VTR Dave smashing it outta' the park! Cracking video mate, what an awesome vehicle (I'd never heard of it before your previous video) you've done a great job, it looks brand new! 🙌
    I fear that the repro-war will rage on for years to come, all we can do is switch off to it. Collect how you want to collect 😁🍻
    Loved the ad break and setup at the end 👌

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're too kind Christian!! 🙏 I'd never seen the vehicle either until 'I am the Dave' generously sent in his childhood one. Love doing the restorations, but I will tell you it takes a lot longer when filming it too. Definitely need to hire a film crew LOL 🤣 Don't know why, but all of my resto vids have more dislikes than anything else - some are very sensitive to repro, would love to do a video on my repro thoughts but honestly would fear being torn to shreds!!! 😲
      Glad you loved the end scene - I'm no film maker but it's fun attempting something different! Thanks for the support as always!!! 🙏

    Thanks for this video. Just got.back into collecting gi hoes with my daughter and I have this to repair. Anyway you can show or detail what you have to do with heating up the plastic for the tab to fix it?

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! 👍 Two main techniques - hot water, or hair dryer! I tend to use hot water for smaller items - heat some in the kettle, pour into a cup and place the item in the water for 30 secs to a min, and it should be soft enough to bend etc Otherwise use a hair dryer on the area to heat but keep the dryer moving and don't hold too close - you don't want to overdo the heat - just apply a little heat at a time until it the plastic is ready 🤘

    • @VintageToyRush
      @VintageToyRush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Eric! There's no real trick except to use plenty of heat (a hair dryer is good enough) and patience. The main thing is to make sure the plastic has enough heat so it will give without snapping 👍 Just take your time.
