I have a relative who worked for Rio Tinto Mines Railway in Western Australia. He was a locomotive driver and by himself had 3 GE AC45' s on the front, 3 more 85 cars back and another 3 pushing 240 loaded Iron Ore cars to a port city many miles away. He did this twice a week. Also BHP Billiton mines do the same with 9 SD 70 Ace's.
Thank you. I'm not surprised, I'm sure in time they will keep growing what with trying to reduce costs etc... I prefer the days of 30 to 70 cars, just seemed more interesting, certainly easier to model ! At this rate it'll even be hard to capture modern trains in Z scale.
East bound is up river ( up hill ) empty coal cars and empty oil tankers and empty lumber cars , but still an enormous about of weight .no mid engines and no pushers
Australia still holds the record for longest consist of 7.3 miles 682 loaded cars. UP holds the North American record at just over 7 miles, can't remenber how many cars. BC rail used to have a limit of 80 cars on its track, but when CN took it over, they had a weekly rash of accidents because of running more than 80 cars. The tighter the curves in a section of track, the shorter the train can be because the forces of drag cause the trains to be pulled off the rails,
@@RailwayWorld , i think so, i do remember it took forever for the train to pass outagamie st, and the eight units were already at outagamie st when i came to it so i sat and counted and could not believe how long this train was, but this was when i was a long time ago and all i do remember is counting all the cars.
Really ? Wow that must've been a sight, steam powered or had diesels taken over ? Majority of the boxcars back then would've been the standard 40' length I would think.
Another interesting rail road is in Mauritania. The SNIM company exploiting iron ore trains, about 160 to 180 wagons with ore, 3 times per day , 7days per week ! 704 Km ( 437 mi ) 4 EMD locomotives. Between the mines in Zouera and the port of Nouadhibou. Eery sight seeing this train going through the Sahara desert. Noise and dust , and danger of being robbed when you dress too western or have expensive camera's etc.
For those who aren't well versed in Canadian geography, "The Rocky Mountains" begin at Banff and carry on to the Pacific Coast. Of course they don't, but the rest of the world often thinks otherwise. Spence's Bridge is in the Fraser Valley and any train passing through en route to Vancouver will have come across some pretty rough terrain, whether the Rockies, the Coastal Mountains or any other range in between. Two hundred cars, empty or not, is a massive train. Be grateful you weren't stuck at a crossing and in desperate need of a gas station restroom.
And then the railways wonder why people take chances racing trains to a crossing... No one wants to sit at a crossing for 5-20 minutes while a 200+ car train passes. This one - all empties btw - was moving at a reasonably good clip - perhaps 30-40 mph (50-65 km/h). Imagine if it was restricted to 20 or 15 mph (40-30 km/h)? All because CN & CP don't want to pay for crews to operate shorter, faster trains.
That was a lot of cars. The scenery was beautiful. Thanks for a very good video. (Mississipi Gulf Coast, USA).
There are 200 cars indeed! Very nice! Thanks

you can do that ion flat terrain...not in the Canadian Rocky Mountains !
Nice Video . Long Train . excellent !
The 200 cars had to be empty with just 2 Locomotives pulling it. But still a lot of cars.
Donald Woods Exactly what I was thinking!!!!
They run 6 locomotives when they're full
That is long but they can get longer. 14000 ft or more is quite common now. Nice video and a beautiful day. Thanks.

@@RailwayWorld i miss when cn and cp used their own lines
And, the cabooses.
great work here in N.S.W Australia your luck to see a train longer than 30 cars great to see this train thank you for sharing this video Cheers Andrew
Great scenery great train great sound
It's a Super location, great for railfanning, always another train around the corner. Thanks
I saw 3 locomotives pull 208 freight cars. one in the front one in the middle and one in the back.
S s r pulled103 grain wagons from crystal brook to Parkes last year with 6 c class locos cheers
its awesome ! 200 cars full!
Sehr schönes Video, grossartiger Güterzug.
Great Train, very nice vid. Best Regards from Germany, Martin

I have to correct you. It was 7.3 kilometres long. That's approx. 4.5 miles.
I stand corected!
MidnightVisions it was more of cn putting all there engines in the front which caused derailment which is why they spread out there engines
Australia doesnt haul freight trains through mountainous regions like Canada,s Rocky Mountains .
CP rail does this with some of their empty grain trains out of Coquitlam. I always see them come out of Pitt Meadows.
Hunter Harrison's long train philosophy in action
great viewing - fab with music of your choice ! love it
Holy man that train is endless
Some time in the early 80s, i counted 246 cars 8 leads a Wisconsin central train in Appleton Wisconsin
246 ! Wow that's a lot ! Must've been a sight. What locos were they - SD40s ?

I saw CSX Q407 with around 210 cars hauled by two General Electric's on the A-Line late last year.
Cool, I bet that was a sight, double stacks, coal, or mixed freight ?
Well they can do that in Florida because stuff just gets pushed down and over the hills. That’s still cool to see though. :)
Wow ...Increíble .....nunca visto al menos para mí ...Gracias por tu video...y manita arriba ..y donde esta ubicado esto ??
Here in the u.s, 200 is normal-even small. 350 to 450 is long. Anywhere up to 8 front locomotives, And Additional Mid/end DPUs.
Back in 50's we saw one with 212 cars. But I think cars were shorter back then.
Really ? Wow that must've been a sight, steam powered or had diesels taken over ?
Majority of the boxcars back then would've been the standard 40' length I would think.
@@RailwayWorld diesel.
Wow, that was a long train, not sure but I see any DPUs ?.

I'm from Saskatchewan long trains are not uncommon. They will only get longer without pipelines.
Would be hard to find a parking spot at the supermarket with that lot. :)
Nice, in Germany we think a train is really long if it is 600 meters (about 1800 ft) :)
Poor people that have to wait at the crossing for this CN train to pass by xD
I've seen a few trains with over 200 cars. They're getting longer and longer. sooner or later 3-5 miles ,lol
I was expecting a DPU in the middle or end of the train but if all the cars are empty, then I guess their is no need for DPUs.
April 16 2021 17:10 I counted two locomotive 192 freight I probably miss some .
All MTs going down a gentle grade.
Gosh, wow ...
This is my ASMR :)
Did anyone have the link of the CP or CN 200 cars video with 2-1-1 formation please.
I saw a NS with around 180 something cars and 2 locomotives
A train with 200 freight cars and 2 locomotives. I thought that it should have at least about 4 to 6 locomotives.
Rocky Mountains? Since this is Spences Bridge and in the southern interior of BC, it's several hundred km's away from the Rocky'.

i see to istanbul.....230 vagooooon.
wery nice video....thanx....
Contei e realmententem 200 vagões!! Bem legal
Longest I’ve seen is 215 cars pulled by 3 locos
How come the train didn’t have any DPU locos?
Run conventional in summer and DPU in winter or have an air repeater car on it for winter also
Very great freight train longer it does not work as at Germany
Best greetings from Germany!!!!
Trains in North America are much longer and heavier than in Germany. On the other hand German freights are FAST
Danke
I would hate to catch that train when it is first pulling out of the switching yard
I don't feel bad for anyone who had to wait for this train at a road crossing lol.
I counted 53 centerbeam flatcars.

I agree, I much prefer the days of shorter trains, around 40 - 50 cars is a decent length for me.
They don't care about speed. CN doesn't have capacity for more trains.
I seen two monster coal trains one was BNSF and one was UP!!!!!
Ive seen a 135 car coal train
2952 cant be in the US.
Obviously completely enpty with only two locomotives pulling. Great get.
New GE they'll pull 13000' loaded intermodal 2 units
iVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY LUMBAR CARS, ALL 53 EMPTY
en France ont arrive a fair des train de 25 wagon !!! (j ai un peut honte )
喔!老天 在我們這邊是不可能發生的超壯觀場景。
You may want to go to Western Australia. I think the record longest is there. 682 cars.
682 that equals about to 6.5 miles long
CSX ran a five mile long train a few yrs. back, 26,000 feet.
A 4.1 mile long train is still a long train
201 Cars!
Quite a lot of cars having "flat wheels", not good!
Two letters discribe this train they are M. & T
This isn’t the longest the longest is 682 cars
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
231
Thats not long
But
