I was on that 100th anniversary train with the tour group. We stopped in McBride for cake and drinks with the towns folk. Train was late into PG and PR.
I'd ride from Prince George about 60 Km's west and get off, setup Camp and fish for a week. Then I'd break camp. set out my White flag and wait for the Skeena going to Prince George. Great ride! Great crew too.
This would be a good trip for VIARail:~ • Vancouver ~ Whistler ~ Quesnel ~ Jasper ~ Prince George & Prince Rupert... Or • Prince Rupert ~ Prince George ~ Jasper ~ Calgary ~ Baniff ~ Kamloops & Vancouver...
Yes, that style meal is served at your seat (with wine) in tourist class at your seat in the Panorama car. Not bad, good scenery makes for a good appetite!
Too bad about the weather. At 20:21 there is a very tall waterfall [don't know its name], which is the tallest in North America which one may view from a train.
+canadiancatgreen I believe that is the correct waterfall, but whether or not it's the ninth tallest depends on which reference book you read. The World Waterfall Database is rife with errors, for example.
I'd have to say my main interest is trains but I do like airplanes as well. On my desk at work I have a piston cylinder head from a Boeing 377 "Stratocruiser" and a back pressure gauge from the flight deck - its amazing that such large machines can fly.
Awesome. Nice video!!
Panoramic views of BC.Thks
That's cool that this train has the big window lounge and the old dome observation too!
Thanks for the great video - it brought back very happy memories of our own journey on The Skeena two years ago. Would love to make that trip again.

I remember,this station from 1996,
Train travel as it should be ...whos in a hurry in that beutiful country !
It’s so romantic, we will take the trip just like you couple some day.
Would love to see that part of the world before I die!
Loved Alberta, spent 20 months there. I did 3 tours when i was in the military. Would love to go back to Calgary.
I am sad that there are not many people on the train. Great views and great experience I believe. However I guess the train is running at a loss.
So much nicer in the locomotive cab. Don't have to listen to the constant nattering and the click click click of those cameras.
Too bad there are no sleeping cars on this train. (One cannot book a room in the Park car on this train).
where is Telkwa in the video
Thanks for posting. It looked like you were served an airline style meal at your seat. Is that what happens on that train?
Yes that is included with tourist class.

Why didn't they let you off at the station in Prince George?
+sean haugen they let them out at Prince George at about 13:11
Who’d wanna go to Prince George?
Stopped having a train name years ago. now its just Train #5/6. The train is a money pit. an $86 ticket cost Via Rail $566 in operating cost.
It was always informally known as the "Rupert Rocket."

+jslasher1 I think it is James Bruce Falls? 9th tallest in the world too

jslasher1 ok I was not aware of that but yes that was the site I used apparently the name is not official as well which also may not be true
where where you at 15:51

Could have done without the tour guide talking constantly.
