    This has worked fantastically when I was in blue collar work (trucking, forestry) and absolutely terrible in white collar office situations. Bosses that are working alongside you appreciate the extra step. If I went the extra mile to win in a corporate setting, all it brought me was trouble and gossipy bullshit. It’s why I’ll only do legitimate “work”, not some nonsense paper pushing.

    I’m a temporary lead mechanic due to the COVID pandemic. I’ve worked on the floor with my shift crew. I understand and feel not being heard. Since being the lead I am active in their work. If they need help, a boost of morale and trusting in them that they’ll get the job done, I’m there actively and not just be in the office sitting back. Any news I get I relay to them as soon as I see and or hear it. Been going strong since April.

    Retired MMA-ers seem to be open to training Police Officers in Escalation and (mainly) Application of Force. The biggest part of training I remember is to first determine what damage the assailant has the "means" to inflict. Neutralize as per using least violent methods required/available. Loving the show($).

    One question that arises from this is what if what your boss is asking would cause substantial OT and an imbalance to work and life overall. Do you still sacrifice as a subordinate ? Also i find i have had 3 leads in 6 months, the cycle of moving talent up is aggressive having to continually restart the trust and team building with a new lead is challenging for many reasons.

    My boss is the type who just turns to the closest proximity person to discuss new ideas. Unfortunately it is typically the low productivity person at the front desk. I've put in effort to be up there and have had my chances for those discussions with my boss. But I came to realize, he is also low productivity and I'm just spinning my wheels here. I'm one if the highest paid employees and I've been making a path for a promotion that doesn't benefit my life very much and the pay is still less I could get elsewhere. It would really be more experience and good references... Anyway, I've decided to just put my nose to the grindstone and perform at my highest while practicing my communication skills. Doing things like literally trying to be up front more for that facetime is proving suboptimal returns for the energy and time investment.

    Aren't you a bad boss if you see suggestions for a better way of completing a task as a negative on the individual?

    • @theveteranpress7715
      @theveteranpress7715 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a time for suggestions and there's a time to just get the task done. What he's saying is you shouldn't always be the person wanting to make changes to a plan or expressing your ideas. Sometimes its better just to execute and make changes in the field as needed. If the job gets done, the boss is happy.

    What if your boss is racist? And you are trying to steer clear from him but he just continues to want to be around you. Then what?

    • @TXP9
      @TXP9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CareFever when the pandemic is over, try to find a new job. As a backup plan, if he says anything unprofessional to you around witnesses, check with them to make sure they heard what you heard. you can use their testimony against him to support your claim when you file a wrongful termination lawsuit, if you lose your job.
      Blowing the whistle now may seem like a good idea, but it will also burn bridges, and make it harder for you to find work later. I haven’t experienced racial discrimination, but I have experienced gender discrimination, and this is my plan in the interim.
