      So true I used to think military men were a bunch of jarhead protein junkie savages,
      Wow did this sidekick me in the face, the lessons, eloquence, and humility,
      from some goliath has really shattered these false narratives in my head,
      and transcend to grasping new and greater rungs.
      Started using some kettlebells and felt fucking amazing.
      Whenever I get bored or unmotivated working from home.
      I pick up that kettlebell and say, this is your procrastination, buckle up.
      Makes me feel incredible after a work out, going back to data tables.

    The first half of the question immediately made me think of Bill Burr's bit about how women argue. Basically if they know they're right they'll stick to the point and hammer it home until you're begging for forgiveness. If they're in the wrong though they go rogue, dredging up personal stuff they know you're sensitive about. So if they start doing the latter, don't rise to it. Just weather the storm because you've won at that point.

      Despite what HolyCodzta said, there is no winning against a Karen 2.0. They’ve mastered the art of deception. It’s impossible to know they are weak & insecure until it’s too late.
      The Karen 2.0’s are the most advanced versions in the field right now. This is all apart of their grand master plan to destroy the world. We must warn others of the Karen 2.0 before it’s too late.

    That first point is so right; who cares if they're wrong? I work in the service industry as a Barista and have customers telling me I'm wrong all day sunrise to sunset. And these are objective statements, not agree to disagree moments.
    And you know what I do? I politely inform them of what should be corrected, and if they won't acknowledge that I nod my head, say 'sorry about that, I'l sort it', and fix the stated problem. If possible, I try and take steps to prevent it from happening again.
    To summarise, I do the best thing I can possibly do, because it is not my responsibility to educate those who don't want to learn. I try to inform and if that isn't wanted I let it go and move on.
    Cause you know, those customers have to live their lives being wrong about some very basic things, ordering coffees and constantly not getting what they want, for instance (which sounds like a special hell).
    That's THEIR hell, and if they don't want my help I will simply keep living the best I can enjoying making good coffee. There's no reason I should be affected whatsoever.

    Re: the first question and wondering why you keep them around: one difficulty is that it’s not quite as black and white as “keep your job or get fired”. Some people effectively get a certain amount of latitude to palm their responsibilities off onto others, because their superiors will turn a blind eye as long as they do their job reasonably well in other areas or they do other things that curry favour with the boss or with clients. For example, an experienced and well-known but lazy and rusty lawyer might get away with not doing very much work, and/or behaving inappropriately, on the basis that he is a “rainmaker” who brings lots of clients in.

    This was my question it think. I kind of answered it below. ID like to add Jocko was on point when he said "replace in extreme case" I will admit that my dept sometimes takes shortcuts because we get so much business.(which is no excuse) and we are in process of fixing it by hiring more people. We have a 5 star review on google but that doesnt mean we are perfect. Our business keeps going up every year because of outside sales Landlord business is going down because of competition to internet sales i think. I have another realestate company and I will admit I need to focus on this company I dont want to mention on here. It is really difficult to put everything on here but Ive taken ownership and there are things I could have done to mitigate a somewhat proken standard operating procedure on both my company and the one we service.

  • @margaritanoir

    How do you deal with people ganging up on you all while taking advantage of your skills and work?
    I was just an intern and another intern misinformed me about something. An employee attacked me about it and I said the truth that I was given wrong schedule from the other intern. The employee immediately said that I am basically lying (took the other intern's side cause they're of the same ethnicity and frequently talking in their own language) and complained to the boss.
    I was always doing lots of work for the boss and yet the boss kept me on the phone for 2 hours trying to humiliate me and blame me, the intern for everything wrong in the office. AND yet the boss also had the nerve to ask me to do more incredibly time consuming work for her to be delivered that same day outside working hours!!! couldn't even end that awful call. The situation was very heavy for almost 2 months and I felt like all the employees knew and wondered about all this.
    I left because my internship ended but what can one do if thats their actual job? No HR to turn to, it felt quite a stupid but helpless situation to be involved in

      Either you fucked up more than you realised or you were in a toxic workplace.... in really toxic workplaces the staff and management have a way of coming together to gang up on the newest easiest to malign member, especially if you expose a giant flaw in how they do things.... you're making them ALL feel inept so they will ALL come together to get you the fuck outta there before they acknowledge how inept they ALL are.
      You have to either play the game on their terms or get the fuck out of there.... and if you have any integrity at all you are not going to be able to play on their terms.
      Good news for you is that it hurts and is confusing but it means you dodged a bullet.... the only thing worse than being ostracized from a toxic workplace, is being trapped in one.

    • @margaritanoir
      @margaritanoir 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamimberti6948 I am pretty sure that the main problem was me being too competent. Actually when the new boss came in, people were nodding towards me whenever something difficult needed to be done.
      I wasnt the newest one in the office but the new intern whom they dared not pick on cause then it'd make them look bad to our sending organization. They were trying to promote a story that I was the 1 with the problem. Plus the new intern they clearly pitied- they didnt know what tasks to give her because of her limited skills, she has just a high school education, always tries to make excuses and avoid work and they seemed to feed her insecurity esp. against me.
      Heck just yesterday I was told that apparently I was nearly fired because there was gossip about me that I supposedly slept with some colleague from *another* company during a work event. Poor guy had made the mistake to visit my hotel to bring me aspirin cause noone else was answering my call and there was no receptionist available (no comment on that but it's fact). Ofc I hadnt slept with the poor guy that I had just met! And even if I had, I dont see how thats "illegal" considering we have a couple within our very office where the girl moved in because of her bf.
      I still cant understand them and they scared me to the point Im now reading psychology stuff just to be sure I know how to deal with this sort of people.

    • @adonislanzones
      @adonislanzones ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend seeing this through a lense of humility and objectiveness. Yes the circumstances are against you and you have done what you need to do which is telling the truth yet they don't accept fine...good now you know where your persuasion ability is at and your inter social standing. But what you need to do is basically be better, but then again you said you are too competent and they probably don't see that maybe they do and thatd why they gang up on you, either way it's fine cause you are in a environment that is like that and you can't really control that but the way I see it is either stand your ground and strive or leave both have their advantages and disadvantages but from I learned from personal experience also from Jocko is to stand my ground and fight on with competence despite others clearly hating on me. Their character is clearly flawed and that's okay because that is not our responsibility.

    • @margaritanoir
      @margaritanoir ปีที่แล้ว

      @Otenismygod Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, that's what I did. I stayed until the end of my contract. The horrible boss even presented me a recommendation letter that I had never asked for. The Director of the organisation really liked me and maybe that's why that new boss was fighting me.
      In any case I left and that office was financially mismanaged so it is now closed. It barely lasted 2-3 years after that new boss came despite the fact she had full support from the organisation as a whole to keep it going.

    • @margaritanoir
      @margaritanoir ปีที่แล้ว

      @Otenismygod To this day, I don't know what one can do when working with lazy and not very competent people in high positions.
      Strangely last year, I got another very incompetent and lazy supervisor. He was literally trying to make me do everything as a trainee (entry level position) even though I got Covid and then presented the work as his and the other team member's (only one part of the work was slightly edited and the majority was untouched). I had tried following Jockos advice to build rapport but it wasn't working. The guy made it clear he just cares about me doing all the work. Lol
      So after he stole my work, I refused to do further as I was getting increasingly overworked and sick. He kept harassing me so I asked him to share the last few pages of the document between all of us and he kept refusing.
      His excuse? That he's a different kind of lawyer implying that I've studied the right kind of law we needed (I'm not a lawyer) so I should do it. I'd give him the relevant legal texts but he wouldn't read them. He spent most of his time on calls learning from others what he needs to know rather than studying. Soon it became apparent he had forgotten basic stuff that any law student would know. His position was administrative and mainly working with writing a very specific kind of texts in a team. I bet the team were unwittingly doing all the work while he'd repeat the stuff he learned from one to the other.
      When it came time for him to write something on his own, it was bad. An external lawyer had to rewrite his part- it was that bad. Still he has a permanent contract so those who don't, tiptoe around him and the boss wouldn't confront him.
      I dont know what one can do with such people as I couldn't muster the courage to tell our boss that the stolen work was mine (the boss interrupted me way before I reached that point). Later this supervisor was insulting me eg talking about me calling me names as though I'm not there. I was so embarrassed to be in that situation.
      I couldn't make myself continue working in that entire organisation although its very well known and the work can be very meaningful. I got PTSD like symptoms from what transpired there. Again I'm embarrassed to admit that and I wish I become more like Jocko. I'm a young woman so it's not easy "hanging out with the guys to become part of the team" and I sometimes can get targeted like that no matter what I do. It seems convenient for ppl to designate a slave if they can get away with it. Sorry for the length but that's what I learned as a whole.

    I believe this was my Question. Weord having it on here and honored. The outcome was almost my lease not getting renewed. Landlord sells merch in which I alter under same roof. My quality controle was called into question. Landlord has subirdinates in which blames my dept for issues that falls in lap of sales team and their standard operation procedures. I have put more quality control and more disclisures to consumer and owned it after I was told they would find another in store dept to service their product. Im being ambiguous because its an on going issue and landlord is family owned. There is a great deal of nepitism and favoratism gling on. I want everyone to know that my dept definitely needs improvement and I am making adjustments. However they may not be enough. I wish i could say more but .. its an on going thing. Thank yiu so much Jocko for snswering answering my quest. I have ameeting on Wednesday and depending on changes of SOP, I may stay or not.

    Thank you Jocko , well its 11:21am and have a great chance in the future "interview psyche' ward next Wednesday and am prep ping for and I can climb back on ...the psychotherapy train, but for now I'm listening ", Jocko the world needs men like you .
    If only my dad had been accountable he would have been a great man ! No he f..d around , drank , petty crime and ended up fencing cheap stolen diamonds from a heist and then 6 months in Ford But what did he do , you would have made him smile Jocko , he ran the fr ...betting ring and came out with a sun tan trim from good plain food he probably , even officers in the army deferred to him , why because he wasn't f... afraid of anything that walked crept or came at him .
    The enemy can only make you piss in your pants if you are afraid , then they set about torturing and when they are finished , look at Mc Gregor's last fight it was horrible outside of the ring what's his name would have crippled him for life and then ... God knows , so this is what these callous souls do this is how they operate , before they go in for the kill , so when he said to a officer , he was a sergeant Major in Burma do this they did it when he said no , no movement .
    When he had to... yes sadly he did .....Kill, because he knew like you if you gave the enemy a chance then they would come after you , there was no choice , the Japanese were skilled at hunting men down in the forests, they were skilled at booby traps and torture and long range sniping , it was "us" or "them"!
    But you have not fallen into this trap !
    Your are lucky many survive only to come back to civilian life and end up like my dad did or worse , and yes I did love him , I will always remember those Tarzan stories with me as a small child nestled with my head on that hairy giant torso and him taking me out drinking and saying in the pub this is my big son to all the hard men who also used this pub , I was only aged about 14 thewn , mostly stayed in the car whilst he conducted business deals .
    I felt so safe with him and yes he never laid a finger on me and yes he straitened me out a few times and so on and yes I still miss him and wished I could give him a hug right now , not that he would want that . No man ever frightened him , one put him in hospital by wielding a bar stool to beat him senseless , but he recovered and just shrugged it off , but he's dead jocko , died the way he lived no big fuss , a "warrior" to the last you and he would have gotten along like a house on fire, you probably exasperated trying to tell him and he just telling you to ... a man's man Jocko.
    But I am no9t him , I am a sensitive soul, I can be courageous and "mad" at times but I am not him .
    God bless R

    Jocko just wondering what happens when there’s a situation just like you explained in the video where the other person makes a false claim and blames you but doesn’t tell you to your face. So they make that claim to everyone you know, but when you go to ask them what’s wrong because they are not speaking with you anymore they just say that everything is fine and there’s nothing to worry about. So the situation just keeps on building for months on end but you don’t have a clear answer for what their false claim is and when you finally do they just say they never made that claim. How do you move forward? Especially when you find out it’s something you didn’t do but since it’s been so many months your reputation has been ruined.

    I have to re think my approach to conflict. your program is very helpful. How do you deal with someone lying about you, saying you did things you did not. Recently, a security guard refused me entrance to the job site. He would not even speak to my colleague in a room 5 feet away for confirmation. Lucky for me, an event organizer saw me and escorted me in.
    This same person then told my boss I snuck in to the venue and smelled strongly of alcohol.
    What I did was deny it and express my shock, my boss said he believed me, but the damage was done, and I lost a shift the following day.
    What could I have done to prevent this?

    • @scottishrestorian1999
      @scottishrestorian1999 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Observe first,then ask yourself , what is it i am projecting on the others around me to initiate this reaction, as the other persons actions were simply pointing to the faults you were experiencing with yourself.
      The other sensitive one was picking that up from you, that's what security guards are there for or so i think.

    I disagree with the team question. When is it okay to alert the boss? Isn't his leadership important?

    • @paolitoquarantino
      @paolitoquarantino 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is important. And you can alert the boss, though the approach should be as if you are asking for advice.
      Like Jocko said, first you sort out the situation with your teammate. If it didn't work, prepare a proposal/s for solution/s. Then "reach out" to boss and present your options.
      What he means in that topic is don't alert your boss right away without any facts/data or exerting effort to fix it as it may come across as you're just complaining and don't want to own responsibilities.
      And if you talked your options to boss and it looks like what you have may not become affective, then he'll do the decision and action.

    Jocko touched upon "insults" in another clip... but never distinguished the fine line between insults and great sarcasm. And being ex-Navy, he'll understand that sarcasm is taken to a fine science, or more accurately, a particular style of intellectual martial arts. Parry, slip, evade, use your opponent's own momentum to take him down. Hang out with some old school Navy Veterans, and you'll laugh your arse-off in amazement at how awesome a true master of sarcasm operates. But like other things, the Navy has probably found sarcasm too offensive for our tender recruits.
