Wonderful performance! This is my first hearing of director Jean-Christophe Spinosi. What a talented young conductor. He conducts with his eyes and draws hearts with his hands... anything to get the best out of his chorus. I sang in my college chorus in the 1970s and had the opportunity to sing under some great directors. One thing they all had in common: They engaged us so directly with their hands, eyes and facial gestures that we never wanted to look away. When I saw Robert Shaw conduct Handel's Messiah in Atlanta in 1977, the great master danced on the podium throughout the work, keeping his singers amused and focused along the way. (It's a LONG oratorio!) Mr. Spinosi has this same gift. I wish him well and hope to hear more in the future.
