    Can you guys put all your CFI videos into a playlist? I think it could be convenient for the next CFI trainees checking out the channel.

    As someone who instructed with the “part 61 that feels a lot like 141” company for a long time, my advice to Bob is congrats, now run the other way as fast as you can and do not ever look back.

    I had flying lessons from age 12-16, once every fortnight at the weekends. My first instructor was not very trusting. But as somebody now in my 30s, ffs if I was an instructor I would not want to be teaching a 12 year old whose version of VFR is staring blankly at the attitude indicator!

  • @1dullgeek
    @1dullgeek 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What percentage of students do you get do things like this? Is it most or is the student role you're playing rare but something that a CFI has to be able to handle?

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While some things are slightly exaggerated, each thing I’ve seen nearly all students do. There are exceptions though.

  • @Zalaniar
    @Zalaniar 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As an aspiring pilot and hopefully CFI in the future, I'm a bit confused by this...while I understand the wild scenarios may help if they encounter that one terrible student, wouldn't it help more to teach more realistic scenarios?
    (I rewrote this like 3 times trying to make it not sound like I'm criticizing you but it still kinda does so I apologize if it comes across like that...I'm just genuinely curious)

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha no problem. They actually aren’t so wild. While exaggerated a little these scenarios are ones that I’ve encountered many a time. I’ve had students do all sorts of things, including freezing up and not letting go of the controls. CFI’s must be prepared for literally anything. They are the only safety net.

  • @flybobbie1449
    @flybobbie1449 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would have a word with my instructors if i knew they were doing stalls at 2000 feet. I know you only lose 300 in a 172 but can lose 700 or more in a Tomahawk and might need 3000 from a spin.

    • @LewDixAviation
      @LewDixAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t mention any acronym but yes, as a flight instructor teaching the fundamentals is important. So much so that it’s the first lesson when a new student starts.
