- Welcome to the channel, Ryan. And uhhhhh Nick. Both of these legends are working towards their CFII add on to their flight instructor certificate. As usual with these kinds of flights, I was up to mischief trying to test the CFII candidate. Ryan did a great job.
Update on Ryan: He passed his CFII checkride with no issues at all! 2 flights and 2 ground sessions with me is all it took! Easy!
Enjoy the mischief

Disclaimer: I edit my videos for time and entertainment purposes. Editing removes context and procedures crucial to safety of flight. This video is created with entertainment in mind, and I do not claim it to be instructional.
That was definitely the funniest video I’ve ever seen from lewdix 😂😂
haha thanks brother!
"My reputation is going down the..." LOL
It's always great fun watching you instruct instructors! You should definitely do some more of these sessions as they make for great entertainment, as well as learning! 👍🤙
Cheers mate. I just picked up another CFII candidate so there will be more soon
@@LewDixAviation agreed awesome vid doing my CFII checkride tomorrow
I love Dixon's "student" mode. It's every single bad student horror story I've heard from my CFI buddies.
Hahaha
Dear god there are actual students like that?! I thought he was just giving him a hard time!
He's as cool as a cucumber! I sit for my IFR checkride on Monday the 2nd so this is getting my hyped a bit! Always nervous but it's coming together slowly. I love these longer videos!
Thanks man! Good luck on the ride!
Going in for my CFII ride here shortly. This was fun to watch. I hope I can make training for my students this entertaining.
I've just started my CFI training! Got my first flight soon - really excited!
You’re gonna learn so much!
That was a really helpful video for CFII applicants. That was so funny trying to mess up while he was hitting the ILS approach and see how he reacts and how he corrects him.
When you said "just this one" I lost it 😂. Love these videos they're hilarious. Keep it up!
9:28 that was perfect. This video was hilarious man well done lol
Haha thanks
0:53 lol 😂
Hall Patricia Taylor Maria Miller Jeffrey
So much fun 😂 amazing video
This is so good. I wish any of my instrument and double I training had been this fun. Would of made learning a lot easier.
You're a good instructor and a good "student."
Just passed my CFI and studying for my CFII, I heard it's a lot easier but I'm still no nervous 😅
CFII is a breeze!
So CFII in the states is a flight instructor who can teach instrument ratings. Is there another acronym for an instructor who can train other instructors (hopefully not CFIT lol)? I'm a flight instructor in Canada and we refer to everyone as an "instructor" but have 4 different classes, class 4 being the least experienced (newbie instructor) and class 1 being the most experienced - only class 1's can train new class 4's. The term CFI here means chief flight instructor (i.e. my boss), every flight school has one, and at most schools where there are multiple instructors the CFI is usually a class 1 or occasionally 2.
Any CFI can give dual for the purpose of practicing/training for the initial checkride. A CFI who has held the ticket for at least 2 years and has given at least 200 hours of dual can endorse a candidate for the checkride.
Just this one. 🤣
This is gold😂
Wow, it's LewDix pre-Flying eyes!
Who knew there was a time before Flying Eyes?!
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day
15:40 killed
great video as always. I especially enjoy how you make the cockpit into a much less stressful environment to be in, through the way you talk and teach.
Until I take the controls and “act” like I don’t know what I’m doing 😂
Thank you!
Being barely a VFR pilot, all this IFR stuff makes me want to IFS...I Fall Asleep. Please note the guy in the back seat knows this approach very well. As usual...keep to the skies and more GF videos...I liked that whippersnapper.
LewDix looks like the sherminator's british cousin.
You're fuckin' hilarious, would love to see more instructing the instructor videos
Absolutely great content! Love your attitude! As much fun as professionality. 👌
Those Bucky or Conn calls are quiet.. this had to be done on the weekend. Nice smooth job.
That was entertaining for sure. Maybe took things next level on the student role play though lol ... maybe more of a new student trying to land.
Lew this was one of your best - great editing !!! Loved the music and the dancing crabs were awesome - My stomach was sore from laughing. It also provided a great view into what training for CFII is like. Ryan is quick and has a great feel for teaching and knew exactly when to take controls.
Awesome and hilarious rolled into one, served with a chip buttie 😂
The three stooges reinvented! Always fun to watch with the chance I might learn something. Awesome
i feel like im that kind of student lol. but im working on that!
Loved the "Just this one!" "Just this one!" Always smile at your videos Lewis but laughed out loud on this one. I think Nick did go a little quiet on that ILS approach :-) You really enjoyed that didn't you?
Nick’s giggle might be the best thing about the video haha
This will hit closer to home in a month! Thanks Lew...haha!
Bad student, Lew! Bad! Bad! 😅😅😆😆
Damn that fluidity juggling IFR stuff...
This flight was more challenging than my actual checkride by far 😄
@@RyanBinns impressive stuff. How long have you been flying IFR for?
@@alk672 I got my instrument rating in late 2017. Most of the previous year I was only doing VFR-only CFI stuff, but I was practicing my IFR stuff for about 6 weeks before we did this video.
Y’all had way too much fun with that video…. But fun and safety is what it is all about. Great job guys!!! Love the videos. God’s speed
Thanks man!
My II add on was the easiest one I've done. Love deactivating WAAS during the unusual attitudes...I'm stealing that from you! The other day doing unusual attitudes I failed their PFD while their head was down. Never saw somebody hit the backup display button so fast...and forget that there are standby instruments in the cockpit.
hahaha Nice little tick, although Ryan was on to me. I need to be more subtle.
Thank you for the laughs Lew!!
Your videos always make me laugh!! You are Refreshing to watch!
Thank you!
He keeps talking about pitch and power settings opposite of how I was taught and how I teach. He keeps saying control speed with power. What's you take on it LewDix?
Well, being a great student as I showed in the video, I’ll weigh in haha.. I prefer a fairly constant power setting on approach and control glideslope with pitch. I find changing power constantly to maintain glideslope causes instability. Just one student’s take on it 😌
JUST....////FOCUS LMFAO
Great video, couple of questions on circle to land. Is the 1.3 miles from the center of the airport? When can you descend below the minimum on circle to land? Always fun watching your videos.
It’s measured from the “runway end” as stated in the AIM. If there is an “inverted C” or “negative C” published on the chart it means the radius can change based MDA which “accounts for TAS increase with an increase in altitude”. (AIM). In Florida, altitude isn’t an issue because it’s basically sea level so Cat A is 1.3, B is 1.5, C 1.7 and so on.
Great and funny video. Fun to watch. Nice editing! Keep on the good work, man!
Thanks mate
Really funny video. I can tell you've seen it all when instructing lol. I finally passed my skills test two weeks ago here in the UK. your videos were a real blessing. Thanks so for posting.
Great to hear Roger! Congratulations! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Excellent - brilliant when you do the 'Student' part, puts the CFI on their toes.
Thank you!
Any thoughts about releasing lewdix hats?
It’s something I’m working on
Skrrrrttting in the air 😂
This had me laughing out loud to where my daughter kept asking what was so funny
Haha great to hear!
Freakin hilarious!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THIS IS GREAT!
OKAY! MY CONTROLS! MY CONTROLS!
😂
This was so much fun to watch! 😂
Nice
Great video!! I love the dancing crabs! LOL
Thanks mate!
Funny!!!
Enjoy all your videos, but laughed out loud the most on this one!
That’s brilliant! Thank you!
Nick giggling in the back ... 😂
My favourite thing during editing was Nick's giggles haha
Shut Up!
I thought you'd enjoy the F U Gravity.
@@nlandman1 I did. Just waiting for the royalty checks to arrive 😂
Need more instructing the instructors!
Lucky for you I have another CFII candidate haha
Hi mate did you gain your ppl in the us or uk?
All my flying has been in the US
Your funniest video yet 😂
Thanks mate 😂
Ha! brilliant Lew 👌👍
Thanks Kev!
Gotta love that t shirt sir !!!!
Haha thank you Sir David!
I'll just be waiting here for the Nick comment :)
Very surprised he’s not jumped in yet
Fun video! Ryan, you’ll do great on your ride. Nick, way to contribute to the video. You’ll be next. Haha. And Lewis, it looks like you enjoy playing the student role! :)
This is Sean S. by the way...
@@aquaticguy88 Hey Sean! He nailed the ride.. Was never in doubt!
I love playing to role of the student hahaha
Brilliant mate😀
Cheers mate!
OMG I love the LewDix-Trolling Edition. I bet you pull the power on your Private Students more than the average CFI, the real trick is how to do it without smiling.
😂
a gotdamn Cessna...
I offer my instruction services on boating websites you see...
@@LewDixAviation I have a disease and the only cure is... more float! So when will we get to see a seaplane Cessna video?
@@skyrunr no need for the sea plane. The regular Cessnas float well enough....
