Hello there! 😄👋 I hope you’ve all been well, it’s so nice to be back after a little filming break. I’ve been busy planning a big year of beauty ahead, so I’d love for you to subscribe so you don't miss my weekly videos, or you can find me on Instagram @matildaonvideo for daily beauty bits. Any burning beauty questions / topics / brands you’d like to see? x
Personally I'd like some help into understanding the ingredients on skincare products. Meaning what to look out for, and what to avoid/how companies rename ingredients we may avoid. Xx
@@naynay7773 I'm still learning about a lot of that myself, so I wouldn't be the best source for you unfortunately! There are a lot of experts sharing their knowledge on TH-cam so I'd suggest starting with some dermatologist creators 👍 x
Welcome back!(: There is this one skincare brand called Peach & Lily. Perhaps you've used it before and I missed it on a video lol, but I just found this brand and am curious if its as effective as reviews claim, specifically their glass skin serum. I have yet to try it myself but would love to hear your opinion on it☺️
you're the reason I started using SPF on my face every day even if it's not sunny. Can't believe I thought I was immune to UV rays just because I'm Portuguese, lol
The organization by color makes me so happy. Your content is always satisfying and realistic all things considered. I feel like we have similar beauty styles. By mixing expensive and affordable with desires and needs. So excited to have you back and I hope the break was refreshing.
I love how you start off by mentioning that SPF is the most important step of skincare! All of those other skincare products would surely go to waste without the incorporation of sunscreen into a routine. It was also super cute how you brought your adorable sunglasses and hat into the display 😊 I hope you were able to relax and enjoy your break
100%. She’s amazing with reminding people to use sunscreen. It’s not always enough to say it in one video! Especially for new subbies who don’t know about it yet. She’s a real gem
@@Danny-be1ex Absolutely! It's also wonderful how she encourages people to find one that they will personally enjoy using, as opposed to following a recommendation that may make applying SPF feel like a chore
Especially in our Australian sun here. It's incredibly harsh. I live in sunscreen and so does my son as he is even paler than me. I learnt a sad lesson from my mother who unfortunately has had most of her face cut out due to skin cancer 😔 she's almost 70 and there was no awareness back when she was younger.
@@nikeetamchutchison1547 I'm so sorry to hear about your mother! If I remember correctly, the sun in Australia was particularly strong several decades ago due to the hole in the ozone layer. I hope your mother is doing well now and that your family won't have to experience the same!!
My nightly routine this year has been Caudalíe cleansing oil as a first step, Avène cleansing gel as my second cleanse followed by Caudalíe Vinosource-Hydra serum and then moisturizing sorbet! For masking, Caudalíe purifying mask and Glossier moon mask! All things I've heard you mention at one point or another :) And my skin had never looked better! Happy to see you back Matilda!
So glad you’re back! That was a long four weeks… I just wanna thank you for putting me onto go-to. Since simplifying my routine with mostly go-to my skin has never been happier! x

I really enjoy your skincare/bodycare video! It's just very calming and aesthetic. My fav skincare item definitely is the ratio frequency device. Just a few minutes before bed. It's like a warm hug and improves my skin better than anything else!

I’m so happy ur back! skincare in my opinion is honestly those kind of “hit restart” type things, it’s so nice to take time for yourselves and take a break from the reality, love u Matilda!
For me "grown alchemist hydra-restore cream cleanser" was heaven sent. I have such a parched, and tight feeling skin. This can be applied on dry skin, and is still workable on the skin OR a few drops of water into it makes me feel like I'm leaving no crease unturned!! It can be removed with a cloth OR rinsed and never makes me feel the need to sprint for a serum. It's also enabled me to stop a few steps in my routine using this.... a serum, eyecream and moisturiser has worked perfectly with this. Love your channel, and your visuals. It had been a minute since I had watched your videos so I was so happy when this one popped up. Great content, as always! The Aveeno Calm and Restore Triple Oat Serum has saved my face from being irritated as I wear a N95 mask all day at work and also through this dry Colorado winter air. This was a recommendation from Dr. Shereen Idriss, a dermatologist here on You TH-cam, Instagram and now TikTok I believe. She is an incredible resource for understanding the ingredients in products. She is whip smart, sassy, goofy and also very down to earth. I think you would really enjoy her content. Looking forward to your future vidoes, they NEVER disappoint!
Since I love skincare- had to as I had an acne prone skin- more than makeup videos, this is my type of video so thank you for doing your skincare roundup. Also, love your nails, first time I have seen you in such a neutral shade- it’s beautiful.
Some of my skincare favourites of last year is glossier super glow serum, fenty instant reset overnight gel cream, bondi sands body spf, glossier invisible shield (I always get shocked how quickly I go through a bottle of that stuff). Sadly lush discontinued my favourite face mask but I replaced it with moisturising moon mask. Most of my products didn’t change with some new additions. And yes to the skincare tools video because I am very confused as to where to start. Glad to see you back Matilda.
Love seeing your videos again, Matilda! I’ve been eyeing Vintner’s Daughter foreverrrr. You might just be the reason I pull the trigger this year. Excited for what you’ve planned for us!
Thank you Angela! It took years of reading rave reviews from many beauty editors for me to finally splurge on Vintner's Daughter, so I'm flattered / sorry to be part of that problem for you 😂🖤 x
i was looking forward to this video 💕 im staring at my avene cleanser in the shower, it’s my holy grail cleanser. i picked up so many of these in paris over christmas (cicaplast + caudelie face mist are new favs) thank you again for your time and kind reccomendations. i am so excited to see all the new content in the new year
The Heritage Store rosewater mist is the only thing in my routine that's in there just for enjoyment. While lots of people turned to skincare as a source of calm and care in 2020, I discovered that I don't like to faff around with products very much and I cut my routine back to clinically validated steps ... except for that luscious rosewater. What a sweet way to start and end every day!
Love the way you put this Julia! I tend to stick to simple face mists like Avene to prep my skin during my routine now, so the other scents are definitely about enjoyment ☺️🌹 x
@@matildaonvideo Bioderma Micellar water, Laroche-Posay Cicaplast and La Violette Supreme Screen Sunscreen. Love these and have been in my bathroom for years now. Tempted to try the Chanel eye makeup remover and Avene skin recovery cream and...a couple or more... 😄

Thank you for watching Nia! ☺️ I made the call to stop filming Glossier reviews after their diversity issues first emerged in mid-2020, and other issues have unfolded since then. I'm constantly making decisions behind the scenes about which brands to film with based on public or private information, but I've never been one to post statements or comments about that decision making process. Glossier may still appear on my channel very occasionally (like this video, or in the context of Celebrity Makeup Bags) but I don't have any plans to bring back my individual product reviews until we see a lot of progress x
Hope you had a delightful break! If you ever need to take more breaks in the future we'll understand. Your mental health matters☺️ As always love your videos! I've recently started using a jade facial roller along with a serum I always use and its really improved my skin!
Hi from Melbourne 🧡 Grt video so glad to know some of my fav are in the video. You should try your hands on Indian brand Forest essentials they have some of best products all organic & natural specially their face mask & scrubs.I am using antipodes facial cleanser for yrs its time to move on now to Avene Cleansing gel 😊
As a result of 2 years of on and off lockdowns, I discovered French pharmacy brands (since pharmacies always remain open!). Vichy, Avène, La Roche Posay…comme je vous aime!
I've been intrigued by Vintner's Daughter for what feels like years! I may pull the plug one of these days. Also, nothing beats that Chanel eye makeup remover! Great video. 🤗
I was exactly the same! It took me years to justify such a big purchase, but here I am still loving it many bottles later ☺️🖤 Glad you're a fan of the Chanel formula too, isn't it fantastic! x
I've stopped purchasing Glossier products as well, partly because using a parcel forwarding service to New Zealand gets expensive and more importantly as a person of colour it doesn't sit well with me to keep purchasing from them after reading the testimonials. An even better hyaluronic acid product I've been using lately is the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus, it also has 5 types of HA along with lots of other soothing and hydrating ingredients. It's listed as a toner but it's quite thick so more of a toner texture for me, could be worth looking into if you're ever in the market for a different hydrating product x
Welcome back!! I love your videos so much, I think they're my personal ASMR guilty pleasure after long days in class. Just curious if you're planning on doing a brand review for Merit?
Thank you Caroline! No need for it to be a guilty pleasure 😄 TH-cam was always my favourite way to unwind when I was studying too! Absolutely, MERIT is on my long list to feature this year x
I hope you had a restful break, Matilda! I’ve been enjoying your Instagram content while I waited for your new videos 📹 The Avene mist is a must-have during Aussie summer for me 😂☀️
Sand & Sky brand is so so good. I adore the Tasmanian spring water line and their exfoliating powder is something I stock up on every time they have a sale on it. I have like 4 jars in my bathroom.
in 2021 I for the first time use cream moisturizer and bakuchiol serum! The moisturizer is Clinique 72h moisture surge and I loveee it so much. It's not sticky and leave my skin moisturized without being greasy in the morning! As for the serum it's from Indonesian local brand, Dear Me Beauty. At first I don't expect much result but it turns out to help calm my skin a lot, especially when there's an acne about to grow! They're my fave founds in 2021 🥳
During my trip to (humid!!!!!) India this year, I became a bit over-zealous with exfoliation and completely messed up my skin-barrier. LRP’s cicaplast, Avene’s thermal spray, and Dear Klairs’ midnight calming cream have SAVED my skin!
@@matildaonvideo 😂😂 TRUE I wanna make my 1st luxury purchase and I'm obsessed with lipsticks like u r so yeah....I blindly trust your reviews Matilda.....loads of love ❤🤗
Glad you’re back! I have a quite similar routine as yours, I try to keep it simple. Last year I cut down my budget for skincare and must say I don’t see a difference in my skin! I stick to simple, straight forward formulas, I started to dislike highly fragrances products. So lots of French para pharmacie brands!
Matilda, I am always looking forward to these annual curations of yours, they usually answer my unasked questions: I have been using the La Roche B5 for years but never really liked the texture and all past year I was eyeing Avene products but wouldn't know where to begin. Voila, you just listed a few which all sounds wonderful! Last year was the year for me to admit I am into face mists and look at that, your video has half a dozen listed! :D I get a lot of enjoyment when I resonate with anyone anywhere, hope this doesn't sound too weird. Not to mention same over-exfoliation issue, so yeah as soon as I use up my THIRD bottle of Pai Skincare's rosehip oil, I'll look into that Sicilian olive oil, simply because I am ready to explore :) But highly recommend you Pai if you can get your hands on it, many stuff in their range is lovely. Thank you for this video, here for the upcoming ones and have a great week!
So nice to hear this video ticked off all the right topics for you Aska, thank you! 😄 I've always heard good things about Pai so I'll have to take a look x
Hey, Matilda! My heart jumped when I saw you posted again after your break! I know you've tried the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask before from your old birthday video. Did you enjoy it? How does it compare to Jurlique's rose mask? Sisley's mask is such a cult-favorite and seemed right up your alley considering your love for all things rose, so I was surprised it's never made it on your skincare favorites before!
Thank you Freya (and hello to your cat!) 😄👋 Ooh this comment has been quite a helpful reminder actually... I did try the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask a few years ago but didn't have any remarkable results to report. It may have even been too rich for my skin at the time, but it's definitely worth revisiting now that I'm more on the dry side! x
It’s here! So many old reliable favourites, I’m hooked to my ultra violette too-even in grey London. Can’t wait for the bath and body and hair roundup-and maybe a Gucci brand review some day? (I’m obsessed with all the packaging but am completely unsure about what lipstick formula to get, for instance).
Love picturing you reaching for your Ultra Violette over there, Anusmita! I miss grey London so much it hurts 😭☁️ Gucci Beauty is definitely on my long brand overview list (but my short answer would be their Rouge à Lèvres Voile sheer formula, it's stunning! You'll spot one in my 2019 Makeup Favourites) x
@@matildaonvideo London can’t wait to have you back here with us! Thanks for the recommendation, Matilda, that formula also has the burnt orange shades that I’ve been eyeing forever xx Also can’t wait to get hold of the Necessaire stuff in Sandalwood, did you know that not all the smells are at Space NK?
As a biochemist I have to tell you that you have to store your products (except for cleansers) somewhere else NOT in the washroom. Humidity and heat will degrade them. Keep them in a cool, dark and dry place.
I think I've heard this before, thank you for sharing Drina! A lot of my products are stored in my office, and I do my morning and evening routine in a tiny bathroom where I don't shower so luckily there's no humidity or heat happening there 👍 x
Hi Shanne-Pearl! Do you mean Queen Screen, their luminizing serum SPF 50+? Yes, it's beautiful! I've used it for a couple of years and it's appeared in a couple of my videos I think, but Supreme Screen is my favourite formula from their range 💙 x
I appreciate your choices but it seems maybe you’ve not yet tried Liah YOO’s Krave Beauty skin care line. The cleanser and the serum/moisturizer ( The Great Barrier Relief- ingredient wise similar to Vintners Daughter but ohhhh $150 less? You should look into it if you’re open to it. Ty again
Interestingly Clarins and Estée Lauder products are not on your list, which are my favourite skincare brands. I wonder if you've tried them. Loved your colour coordinated clips! 😊💕
I haven't tried any of their products so I'd love to hear your favourites Jia! I'm definitely intrigued by Advanced Night Repair. Thank you for watching ☺️🎨 x
@@matildaonvideo From Clarins, I can recommend Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum, and from Estée Lauder, Advanced Night Repair Eye. I'd love to hear your opinion about them! 😊💕
I have created the perfect skincare routine for myself FINALLY after years of Proactive and clean n clear ruining my skin. I do have a question, what should I use to minimize my pores? I use face wash, acne treatment, toner, retinol, hyaluronic acid, and moisturizer. Am I missing something? (I also exfoliate with the ordinary AHA about 1x a week) I am obsessed with beauty tools! I watch hauls all the time for those. I would love to see what tools you use.
So glad to hear you've found a routine that works for you! Pores aren't something I worry about too much to be honest (I've always had larger pores around my nose but that's totally normal!) The only products in my routine that address that area would be a chemical exfoliant and clay mask once a week. I'm sure you'll find expert advice on TH-cam from dermatologist creators on this topic 👍 x
I haven't unfortunately Abigail! There's definitely a lot of dupes content around though but I haven't explored any yet... I've heard CeraVe and Elf mentioned, so I'll have to give one a try soon. Good luck! 👍 x
Kinship Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturizing Sunscreen a newer favorite and a oldy but a goody Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum. Honorable mentions go to Heritage Store Rosewater and glycerin and The Inkey List Oat cleaning Balm for my 1st step when I double cleanse. I keep in simple I have no more 10-12 in my rotation.
Do you use the cleansers you mentioned as makeup removers by any chance? Trying to help my mom find a makeup remover that takes away mascara too so I'm nosing through all your videos haha
I haven't reached for it for quite a long time! Still think it's a lovely formula, I just found other moisturiser options in the past couple of years that I enjoy applying in the morning 👍 x
A fragrance video is finally on my filming list for this year! I actually don't use many perfumes so it will be more of a look back over my favourites from the past decade 👍🌹 x

Thank you! Hope you reach the end of the day faster than you think ☺️👍 x
Lovely video as always! And I love that nail polish colour 🤍
Thank you Liv! More nail polish favourites coming in my next video 😉💅 x
So happy you're back!
Thank you! Me too ☺️ x
Love seeing your videos again, Matilda! I’ve been eyeing Vintner’s Daughter foreverrrr. You might just be the reason I pull the trigger this year. Excited for what you’ve planned for us!
Thank you Angela! It took years of reading rave reviews from many beauty editors for me to finally splurge on Vintner's Daughter, so I'm flattered / sorry to be part of that problem for you 😂🖤 x
i was looking forward to this video 💕 im staring at my avene cleanser in the shower, it’s my holy grail cleanser. i picked up so many of these in paris over christmas (cicaplast + caudelie face mist are new favs) thank you again for your time and kind reccomendations. i am so excited to see all the new content in the new year
You know I'm so jealous of your Paris pharmacy shopping Emma! 😍🇫🇷 Thank you for the kind words, as always x
Just discovered your videos and I am hooked! Glad you are back!
Thank you! So nice to have you here 😄👋 x
I would love to see you do on the current state of glossier. its definitely lost its hold.
Great to see you're back! Enjoyed this calming video and seeing some of my own favourites as well as some products I may try soon 😄
Thank you Silv! Ooh which favourites popped up here for you? 😄 x
always lovely to see your videos on my feed matilda
Thank you Marie! So sweet of you ☺️ x
glad to see ur back!! i have a curiosity though, do you use any skincare for undereyes?? im havin trouble with dark circles being a full college student and part time barista and i just wanna see what youd use :] been trustin ur picks for a long time and never faile’
thank you for speaking about the glossier issues. i was curious about why you stopped using them though i had my suspicions
Thank you Lizz, that's so kind of you! I really appreciate it ☺️ Glad you're enjoying some relaxation (and skin benefits) with your roller! x
Welcome to the wonderful world of French skincare Rashidah! 😍🇫🇷 x
I've been intrigued by Vintner's Daughter for what feels like years! I may pull the plug one of these days. Also, nothing beats that Chanel eye makeup remover! Great video. 🤗
I was exactly the same! It took me years to justify such a big purchase, but here I am still loving it many bottles later ☺️🖤 Glad you're a fan of the Chanel formula too, isn't it fantastic! x
I love when products have magnetic lids for included spatulas
Me too! So handy 😄 x
WOO best video of the year time!!!!!
Haha thank you Mia! 😁🎉 x
I’ve been enjoying your Instagram content while I waited for your new videos 📹 The Avene mist is a must-have during Aussie summer for me 😂☀️
Thank you so much Kat! Glad you're staying cool with that Avene mist too 👍💦 x
Yes to your little note re. Glossier! Thanks for sharing your skincare favorites! :)
Thank you Carla! ☺️ x
Sand & Sky brand is so so good. I adore the Tasmanian spring water line and their exfoliating powder is something I stock up on every time they have a sale on it. I have like 4 jars in my bathroom.
Nice to meet another Tasmanian Spring Water fan Jennifer! So glad you enjoy that range too 💙 x
Omg! Perfect way to end my weekend. Thank you!! Gonna purchase some of these during my breaks when I’m exhausted and frustrated 😂😅
Hope you had a nice weekend Danny! ☺️ Thank you for watching x
in 2021 I for the first time use cream moisturizer and bakuchiol serum! They're my fave founds in 2021 🥳
Thanks for sharing Jillia! Sounds like a nice combination 😄💧 x
During my trip to (humid!!!!!) India this year, I became a bit over-zealous with exfoliation and completely messed up my skin-barrier. LRP’s cicaplast, Avene’s thermal spray, and Dear Klairs’ midnight calming cream have SAVED my skin!
ultra violette really is the best of the best
Agreed Beth! 👏☀️ x
I would very much enjoy a ( tools ) mechanism video.
Loved and enjoyed this.
Thank you.
Thank you Memory, so glad you enjoyed it! I've added that video topic to my long list 😄👍 x
@@matildaonvideo Thank you Matilda
Take your time sweetie
I enjoy all your TH-cam content
So no rush.
God Bless You.
See you in your next video.
Hi Matilda 🙋🏻♀️ loved the vdo as usual....can u pls do a video on your favorite luxury bullet lipsticks?
Thank you Srinidhi! That video could be a few hours long... don't make me pick my favourite shades! 😂💄 x
@@matildaonvideo 😂😂 TRUE
I wanna make my 1st luxury purchase and I'm obsessed with lipsticks like u r so yeah....I blindly trust your reviews Matilda.....loads of love ❤🤗
Sounds like you've found the sweet spot for your skin! ☺️👍 x
It may have even been too rich for my skin at the time, but it's definitely worth revisiting now that I'm more on the dry side! x
Omg yay you’re back!!!
Yay Kalyani! Happy to be back 😄 x
I discovered the Fresh cleanser this year too and it is perfect and simple.
Glad you're enjoying it too Jenn! 😄💧 x
I really need to try that SPF. I love my Elta MD
I see Elta MD around a lot online Jules, I'd love to try it! So good to hear you have an SPF you love, that's the main thing 👍☀️ x
@@matildaonvideo For sure. Gotta keep my skin covered 😎
2021 was the year I fell in love with ultraviolets supreme screen ❤️
You have excellent taste Emilie! 😉💛 x
Love the skincare videos!!
Thank you! Me too 🛁 x
i've got 3 steps in my routine - cleanse, moisturise & spf
Great to see SPF in there Jeanie! 😄👏 x
Yaaaasssss!! Matilda is back ❤️
So nice to be back! Thank you for watching ☺️ x
Got to see some of my favourites! 👀
Ooh what did you see here Additi? 😄 x
Great review, thank you! I have rosacea 😩, so I have a very calming face routine.
Thank you! I loved the new calming products in my routine last year so I hope you've found some that help you too ☺️ x
@@matildaonvideo I’ve found some but not anything I’m totally in love with.
Thanks for the recommendation, Matilda, that formula also has the burnt orange shades that I’ve been eyeing forever xx
Also can’t wait to get hold of the Necessaire stuff in Sandalwood, did you know that not all the smells are at Space NK?
As a biochemist I have to tell you that you have to store your products (except for cleansers) somewhere else NOT in the washroom. Humidity and heat will degrade them. Keep them in a cool, dark and dry place.
I think I've heard this before, thank you for sharing Drina! A lot of my products are stored in my office, and I do my morning and evening routine in a tiny bathroom where I don't shower so luckily there's no humidity or heat happening there 👍 x
A skin tools video would be amazing! 🙏🏾
Really helpfui perchase the product thanku
Thank you for watching Nayana! ☺️ x
Hi Matilda! Have you tried the Ultra Violette sunscreen syrum yet? I’ve LOVED the og facial spf but I’m very curious on the syrum
(I also exfoliate with the ordinary AHA about 1x a week)
I am obsessed with beauty tools!
I know you used to use Glossier Milk Jelly… have you found a dupe? It’s my go to remover and I’m dying to find an alternative.
I haven't unfortunately Abigail! There's definitely a lot of dupes content around though but I haven't explored any yet... I've heard CeraVe and Elf mentioned, so I'll have to give one a try soon. Good luck! 👍 x
Woah! Hello there, indeed! Hope you had a good break
Thank you Malika! It's nice to be back 😄👋 x
Hello in 2022! ❤️ I've been missing your videos !
Thank you Anca! Hope you've been well 😄 x
Love these year end favorites! We would love to see your favorite perfumes! Cheers
Thank you! A fragrance video is finally on my list for this year 👍🌹 x
Have you tried any products from Allies of Skin? If you do, please review
I haven't unfortunately Tham! I know The Anna Edit has raved about one of their products in the past 👍 x
Do you use the cleansers you mentioned as makeup removers by any chance? Trying to help my mom find a makeup remover that takes away mascara too so I'm nosing through all your videos haha
There's a separate section on makeup removers in this video! I use Chanel and Bioderma 👍 I only use cleansers to remove face makeup, never mascara x
@@matildaonvideo Thank you! Very helpful as usual
Are you still a fan of Glossier priming moisturiser? x
I haven't reached for it for quite a long time! Still think it's a lovely formula, I just found other moisturiser options in the past couple of years that I enjoy applying in the morning 👍 x
Rovectin from korean brand have amazing products!
Thank you for the suggestion! 👍 x
Plzzz also make videos on affordable best perfumes
A fragrance video is finally on my filming list for this year! I actually don't use many perfumes so it will be more of a look back over my favourites from the past decade 👍🌹 x
Ugh. Dying to try those sunscreen . Sadly, they are not allowed in the US. 😭
I know, apologies Veronica! Fingers crossed the FDA can update their list of approved filters ASAP, then Ultra Violette can make their way to you ☀️ x
The code for Look fantastic 22% off is expired, is there a new one please?
Thank you for letting me know, sorry about that! I've chased it up with the brand so I hope to hear back soon 👍 x
I was hoping this would be the next video!
Absolutely! One more 2021 Favourites video to come too 😉 x
I discovered the skinceuticals CE Ferulic Acid Serum and it’s been a game changer. The price is a bummer though 😩
Ooh interesting Fatihah! I've certainly heard good things about their products 👍 x
Bioderma product my favourite
Such a classic! 😄💕 x
The back of her hand after this video 🌟💅🌟
Just wait for the next Favourites video! Even more hydration for my hands 😂👏 x
