I’m sure you probably already know this? But I would reinforce the steering box mount on the subframe before putting the car back together that is the Achilles’ heel of the E 24 6 series
Really? I had mine for 6 years and drove it hard, never had a problem with this. The rubber joint on the propshaft however, would last about 9 months! it was a great relief when I found that Euro Car Parts did it for £16.89, as opposed to £120+VAT from BMW. That was 25 years ago, don't lnow what it would be now?
Hard to believe it’s been 9 months. Both that you’ve been working on it for 9 months (time flys watching from a recliner) and it looks like this in only 9 months. And you’ve made great progress on other vehicles at the same time. Not to mention produce these videos!
I had know idea this was even possible…. Your value to old cars is invaluable, your an artist buddy unbelievable skill set, so jealous you have that ability 👌🏻✨✨
Nice work Ryan. Those wings really have to be saved nowadays, new ones are 2 arms and 2 legs to buy, if you can still get them. If my 8 series project is anything to go by, some parts I priced up when I started work on it about 7 years ago are still available but have nearly tripled in price, so if wings were £650 7 years ago, who knows what they will be now. It is obvious that a lot of commenters have never tried to restore an old BMW or they wouldn't make some of the comments.
The Artist. That’s how I call you. I’ve looked at the 38 episodes (I think), your job is amazing. « Majestic » is you actually. Congrats. I wish I could be Musk, I would have offered you (well Mat) big money for this car I belove. One thing is shame, steering wheel is on the wrong side (i’m from Belgium), curious, isn’t it ? We have as well some sense of humour this side of the Manche…big thank you.
Not owning or a load to drive because of illness but I'm not a car fan but watching you bring this classic car back to it's former Glory is amazing to watch I'm a big fan of Matt Armstrong even though I'm not a car fan I still enjoy those kind of builds
You are so very talented in what you do what you have done to that car is absolutely outstanding. Thank you for sharing it with us. I’m sure Mat is gonna be very pleased…. it will be like a new car when you finished😊😊😊😊
Good start to the morning, My OG beanie arrived this morning, just when I had given up on it anyway :) Looks like you (Ryan) finally managed to get your suppliers sorted, thank you and good work as always.
I think your job is safe ryan no AI robot could possibly recreate all those impossible fabrications even if it could work day and night without a break and as for editing the footage.............
Before you paint the front crossmember, weld and reinforce the steering box bracket - not the one with the long through bolt but the other one. They are well known for breaking.
Another artwork! Panel-beating in two directions, PLUS a step..... I reckon it looks easy and nice on paper when designed, but quite a challenge in the flesh/ metal. But you managed, as usual. Do i see a orange BMW E3 in the background? Another series on another beautiful car i hope. Thanks again!
Hi , amazing video mate!!! You' ve got such a talent to do this. Personlig I could buy old car in California, Spain,Dubai what's so ever. Have good weekend bro
A real pleasure to watch you work, i look forward to each and every update on all your projects, Did you have time to get your S4 sorted? If not why not try a collaboration with saving salvage he is a vag man who loves one thats been in a bump dose great work too
Awesome work Ryan! I see you cut out just the rusted parts ending up with odd shapes, lots of corners etc. Is it not easier to cut out a bigger piece that is square?
Hello 👋 my number one good buddy captain yorkshire, im home from my brothers and sitting here eating a piece of birthday cake i wish I could send it to you through the comments 😀 but i enjoy the video a lot more than the cake 🎂 🥮 im glad that my phone was able to load it and let me watch it.. you are doing a extremely good job Ryan getting everything ready to go back together won't be long until she will be able to roll around the shop on its wheels 😉..hope you and everything at the shop have a wonderful blessed and prosperous and safe work week ahead.
Is that the E9 2500CS in the background that featured on a Barn Finds episode of the Late Brake Show last year? Would love to see an episode on that too!!
Why weld up the opening for the indicator in the side of the wing are you planning on replicating an earlier car. The first e24s didnt have indicators in the wings, but also had a much less flared wheel arch than cars from 1982 on
Does this vehicle belong to Mat Armstrong and you are doing the work for him, or did you buy the vehicle off him and you are restoring it for yourself or a customer?
When you weld in a piece like ‘the ship’, it gets ground down, smoothed over etc. But can you show us what the other side looks like, and is it prone to rust on the other side? Ta. Bye.
Would it be possible to get the track name between 5:33 and 7:11 ? All wannabe rappers that have sampled it and pop up in shazam claim it as their own. :(
The idea is to show people how fabrication skills, work can be done and hopefully help in real life situations if parts aren’t available. Or too expensive
Craftsmanship And quality att. To Detail are incredible . But in real world nobody would put so many hours into a non vintage extremely rare car. Just buying a new floor pan and throwing all that rusted hulk out would be much cheaper
I bought 2 new bmw e24 wings for my restoration 7 years ago at £650 each from maindealer so money we'll saved
Money saved indeed! Thanks for the info :)
Impressive availability for an old car.
*content* doesn’t work if he just buys it :)
now he knows how much to bill mat for them 😊 haha
@@adnxn1 he's not billing Mat, he's doing it for free!
The content you create isn’t the sort of thing I enjoy watching - but I just want to acknowledge your unbelievable talent and patience.
When is the next Mat Armstrong's BMW video coming out, I can't wait to see how Mat explains the amazing job you've done on his channel.
Mat Armstrongs E24. The gift that keeps on giving
These videos have everything! Amazing craftsmanship, behind the scenes action and unrelenting dry humour. Does life get any better? Nope.

Makes me smile when I see you do the metal work... how it should be done...
A pleasure to watch a skilled man at work.
Some of the best fabrication you have done
Hope the BMW is not getting damaged with all the swarf from grinding and covering rubbing, still love your craftsmanship
Absolutely amazing skills as usual. I could watch you and your dad all day. Total in awe
Brilliant, incredible talent and patience - thank you
i admire your skills as a metal fabricator... awesome work
I tend to skip through and catch the really interesting bits, a very skilled young man. Very few people would take on a challenge like this.
It's looking quite full in that huge garage. Great vid 👍

Very interesting to see how complex some of these panels are "behind the scenes". Not something the layman usually gets to see.

Well done Ryan amazing work as always this car has been one hell of a journey
Thanks so much Dave. Hope your doing well! I passes thr job last month, looks smart! Cabins gone too.
Big plans in store for this car!
Excellent work as always Ryan. 👍
Work goes on but need some time to sleep , doing a great job , lovely to see
Top work, what a skill to have👌
Thank you :)
A mighty fine bit of work you've done there creating that wing part. Great video, never apologise matey.
Ayu Ryan another brilliant video brother stay well bud 👍🏻👏👏
Well done on that panel, the swage lines would be hard to get to fall in place with the rest of the guard panel. Cheers from New Zealand. 🐞
I think you should be up for next 'top gear' presenter- you have all that it takes and more ; )
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and supporting

Personlig I could buy old car in California, Spain,Dubai what's so ever.
Have good weekend bro
Amazing m8 keep them coming
Will this project ever end ? I need to see it at Mat’s unit ASAP
Had to fill the front wings on mine every summer. They were £500 each in 1990.
Ryan, you're quite the plowhorse
Top work Ryan
Not seen an update on Matt Armstong’s BMW in a while…..
Are there more coming?
A real pleasure to watch you work, i look forward to each and every update on all your projects,
Did you have time to get your S4 sorted? If not why not try a collaboration with saving salvage he is a vag man who loves one thats been in a bump dose great work too
Hello there YCR, when would the next video on this car be out? :) Great Work BTW.
It's filmed, just editing. Hopefully this week :)
That car has come a long way, but to be fair you have put in some serious hours on it.
Amazing work 💪💪
whats gonna happen to this car? are you gonna reassemble it or is it going back to Mat?
HOUR TOTAL!?? Bro we need and hour tally! This is Bananas!
Can we have an update please. It’s been a while since you showed any work done. Thanks in advance.
Is there any further video on this car? Or is it done?
Wish i could afford for you guys to finish my mini
Awesome work Ryan! I see you cut out just the rusted parts ending up with odd shapes, lots of corners etc. Is it not easier to cut out a bigger piece that is square?
I would loose the extension off the 1/2 gun for more torque dude 👍
perfekt work👍👍👍
Peltor should sponsor you with a pair of Alert XP so you can finally ditch those headphones 😂

How is the BMW now?
We don't see anything of this car anymore?
Is that the E9 2500CS in the background that featured on a Barn Finds episode of the Late Brake Show last year? Would love to see an episode on that too!!
Yes that is Gors E9 from the late brake show
What are we talking overall cost wise here? I wouldn't have a clue.
How do you ensure that all the bits removed and the nuts and bolts can be reassembled correctly?
Is this the end of this project?
Did you get carried away and blank off the indicator hole 😊 11:51
We don't need that where we are going 🤫
Nuff said 😊
That was my thought watching it, i was like “oh Indicator delete 😮” is that intentional 😂
It is almost a month without any updates
I mean ! How lucky is this car ? And your going to give it back to him 😢
mat Armstrong should pull his smashed up m3 running gear into it
Why weld up the opening for the indicator in the side of the wing are you planning on replicating an earlier car. The first e24s didnt have indicators in the wings, but also had a much less flared wheel arch than cars from 1982 on
What you listening to while you are doing this stuff
That cannot be a flat welding table you doing the heavy torqing on, now can it?? 😂
cool
What type of car is the one behind the E24, on the spit with the very big gap in the roof
Bmw e30 baur. That comes onto the channel soon
Does this vehicle belong to Mat Armstrong and you are doing the work for him, or did you buy the vehicle off him and you are restoring it for yourself or a customer?
Whats the latest with Matt Armstrongs car ? It hasnt been featured in any videos for a while.

What's the built cost breakdown please
Free, although Matt should mention them every week, which he has not done yet, ever
@@suznetare you completely sure they are doing this for free?
@@suznetagreed 100%. I have mentioned that on here previously and in the comments on Matt’s Chanel.
@@beamer8907 I’m sure they said that on their 100k subs video, same for Autoalex & Colin Furze beemers
Yes this is being done for free. And was hoping for some kind of recognition
Nice...😅
Top lad
Good job, where's sandblasting booth?!!! 😡😡😡
Dont you have a shrinker? Notice you've slit afew curves rather than shrinking
The panel curved both ways
👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
When does Ryan sleep ?? 🙂

Surely you can find good condition wings for this project, doesn’t seem worth the time to repair.
Very expensive to buy
they are like $1000 each. I paid $700 for an e21 front valance because all used one were rotten
The idea is to show people how fabrication skills, work can be done and hopefully help in real life situations if parts aren’t available.

2026: rebuilding Mat Armstrong’s e24 episode 375 😂
