    you guys work really well together and that's a pleasure to see in itself. Couldn't do that with my wife; she'd just talk all the time...

    Wow, this is exactly the video I needed. I've worked with Ice Resin (yellows in no time) and Art Resin, but Art Resin is very pricey and doesn't seem to cure as hard as I'd like. I've really wanted someone's first reaction to Marine grade resin, and since I know you guys live resin this video was a serendipitous find. Really nice, your client is lucky to be in good hands.

    I just finished a bathroom countertop with the same exact brand of resin. Following the instructions it works wonderfully. It does scratch super easily once cured.

    Loved it! U guys definitely show all! The good bad & ugly! I think that’s great it helps us all learn. Please no offense if any taken. I love the way cells r made without silicone which is a very bad idea when using resins. I’ve learned the hard way by putting resin over a pour w/silicone,big mistake! I know u already know that.
    How did u get the rainbow pic. To drip off canvas & it all stayed intact?? Maybe u can share that info. I enjoy ur show & artwork from both of u. When all looks like it failed u manage to make it not fail. Keep up the good work. Ur doing something right & fun!

    I love this! It came out beautiful! I love Pro Marine, i cast jewelry with it. The hardner does have an odor but it's not bad. It is supposed to be low VOC, safe for indoor use. Has UV protection. LOL I reasearched before i bought it. And the biggest plus when you buy from the web site it is pretty good price. 1/2 the price then the more popular resin for art which helps my budget

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Artist Till Death Thank you, it’s a drawing I did years ago and I’ve used it as my profile pic as long as I’ve been online, since the World Wide Web was born. I came here after viewing a video by Mixed Media Girl, Marcy, talking about the collab between you two. Now I’ve seen an awesome piece of art here so I can’t wait to see the completed project. By the way I subscribed bc I’ve got to see more work like this! I’m a mixed media artist and a conventional painter of surrealism (that may be an oxymoron🙄). I use stonecoat epoxy and they say to never mix it with water based paint, only oil based. Your water based mixing has not created any problems? I would love to be able to mix with unicorn spit. Then again I'm pretty much addicted to the metallic powders now

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never really had any issues - what it comes down to is water based things break down the epoxy and effects the durability. That’s mainly important for countertops I believe. I don’t use many water based paints anymore.

    • @Book-Gnome
      @Book-Gnome 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtistTillDeath Ahhh ok.. Thanks. I'll continue to not use water based paint then. Pro Marine is the first product that tempts me away from a product I'm super familiar with using but the cost difference is significant.

    do you ever use a torch? or just the heat gun for getting rid of the bubbles?

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ron, Jeff prefers to use a torch usually - we just need to get more fuel for it. You can use either to get rid of bubbles. If you want heat but no air flow then a torch is best. If you want heat that has a little bit of air to create movement then a heat gun is what you need. Hope that helps :)

      Yes, I always use a respirator, but I am so sensitive to any toxins now that I have to be concerned with vapors emitted during the curing process as well. I've become quite the delicate flower...haahaa.

      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leslie Cottrell Simonds haha I say delicate flower often!! I think Envirotex Lite was the least VOC of the ones we have tried. Followed by countertop epoxy fx then pro marine.

    Don’t want to be picky, y’all are the artists. I think gold to highlight and not so much in your face. You had a blue that had some mica that was really pretty in your geode (?) Painting. I love the blue in this piece too. The rest are in point and beautiful.

    Wow that piece is amazing Erika! I was looking at Pro Marine as an option because the price is amazing compared to ArtResin - they don’t ship to Canada but my friend is visiting her sister in June and she offered to have me ship it there and she’ll bring it back for me. The other one I was looking at was a resin that can withstand high heat for trivets, etc but it’s so expensive. I’m going to order Pro Marine I think - my concern is I live in an apartment and although it’s pretty open it’s not huge and the smell concerns me - is it really strong?

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jan. Honestly it is very faint, it's just slightly more than the other resin we use and since smell is a concern for most in the resin world, I had to mention it. If you were more than half a foot from mixing it you wouldn't notice at all. The best resin I have used for heat resistance is Countertop Epoxy FX - it can withstand 500*F

    • @janmcconnell2240
      @janmcconnell2240 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Erika I think I’m definitely going to order Pro Marine - do you think if I ordered the Countertop FX which is the one I was looking at I could use the ProMarine for the design and add a layer of the countertop FX for the heat properties and it would work?

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh absolutely. We do that with our countertops. We will do the design work with Envirotex Lite and do a flood coat with FX to protect it.

    How much resin do you mix for a 12"×12" surface? (Approximately)
    I am pretty sure i use waaaay too much

    • @ArtistTillDeath
      @ArtistTillDeath  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. We usually play it by ear and make more if we don't make enough. It typically depends on how many colors we use and how thick we want the layers to be. Let me do some measuring and I will send you some numbers. Just eyeballing I would say 8-10oz?

    • @bethbriers774
      @bethbriers774 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ArtResin has a resin calculator that will tell you how much resin for any size project. I just saved the calculator to my desktop. Just enter the dimensions of your project and it will tell you how much resin you need. I always make a little more just in case I want to add some clear, or need more of a specific color. I love Pro Marine!

    Careful with the caps. You put the resin cap (white) onto the hardener bottle. Gonna get your lids fused onto the bottles if you aren’t careful.

    I was having a minor issue with Pro Marine Epoxy. I was trying to find out how to contact them but they contacted me before I could even find them. Turns out the issue I was having was my fault. I want to say thank you to Pro Marine Epoxy and Monica from their costumer service number. I wish every company was this willing and anxious to help their costumers. Many, many thanks to this company and Monica at costumer service for all your help and especially to Monica for her kindness, understanding and willingness to help.
