THANK YOU! Lots of artists when they do resin they just fast-forward through everything they don't explain how to do it or what they're doing. I had no idea how to mix the mica powder, now I do because of you!!! I've watched other videos and they just make it look very hard and difficult and impossible to do; you make it look like it's possible and like it's easy to do! Thank you so much for this video!!!
Very beautiful and I love how you were going to add something at the end and then you were like nope I have to leave it. You have to know when to stop and not overwork it and you really know how to do that well!! Great job! And you make it look easy and I appreciate that very much! Some artists I've watched they make it look so difficult like it's just not possible to do. Thank you again. :))
Love it! I laughed because I do the same thing you do......start to take off the glove and say to myself 'let me just add'.and then say 'nope, I'm done, I better leave it alone.' I feel the pain of that moment.....and sometimes I don't listen to myself and regret it later!
@@MonicaBarnesArt Oooo Thank you so much! Working on 58,000 subscribers... Someday I will be getting back to resin again and I will rewatch this for some inspiration! I need to figure out where to find space for indoor lighting...and make sure all the dog hair is gone ...you know!
Hi I tried this painting earlier today and did exactly what you did but my paint wouldn’t move .. can you please tell me how you mixed the colored paint for this painting.. I mixed with my regular pouring medium and not sure if that was right ., my paint also got clumpy.. please help I’d really appreciate it ! Thanks
Hi Jill I mixed my mica pigments with Resin that’s why mine moves the way it did. This is not acrylic paint I hope this helps thanks so much for watching❤️❤️
Thank you Monica .. I used acrylic paint mixed with a pouring medium .. wrong wrong !! I will use the mica powders only mixed with the resin ! Thank you by the way going to buy that arzteca set of pigments on your page ! Thanks so much for your reply I really appreciate the help.
I have never used the resin before and it looks stunning!!!! Thank you for sharing this video it has inspired me to try something similar!! Keep sharing, your work is beautiful💜
Wow, turned out a beautiful space scene. Tip, I use a toothbrush and dip in paint, then flick the bristles and you get all different size dots...also my favorite part of resin is popping the bubbles, lol.
Laura Usher Hi Laura actually I did dip in the paint and flick the bristles I thought I mention that in my video maybe not I started doing dots and then finished with the flicking of the brush Thanks Laura I can use every tip I can get.
trace taylor Hi Trace , hair dryer is always on hot to pop the bubbles and to move the resin around the hairdryer actually pushes the pigments a lot better and faster than the heat gun . But sometimes you don’t want to use the hairdryer because it can push the pigments too much depends on what look you’re going for❤️
Not Telling No problem I also used East Coast epoxy resin or pro marine on a lot of my videos it’s so much cheaper if you doing small stuff but if you are doing bigger painting you want to invest in art resin
Hey Monica! I've been watching your videos for a long time now and I am working in resin also. Mostly on canvas. Could you give me some advice on pricing? For instance a 16x20 canvas? What avenues do you use to sell? Thank you so much! I've learned so much from you!
kristen hawkins I work out of 4 Hospitals I tattoo The aerial and Nipple back on Breast cancer patients so a lot of my artwork is hanging in those hospitals and out of a lot of doctors offices which gives me quite a bit of exposure . I would sell a 16 x 20 anywhere from $75-$150 depends on how much I like it lol l I also sell some of my work the upper Eastside in Manhattan where the same piece of art will sell for three to $400 so if I was you I would ask my family doctor or whatever doctors you have if you could hang a piece of artwork in their office and either put business cards or a little plaque that says your name work by commission and for sale
@@MonicaBarnesArt that's awesome! I am just struggling to know what to charge for my work. I have some of it in a local gallery but I live in a small town that hasn't caught up to contemporary art :). Thinking about using IG but still struggling with price? Do you have any suggestions? Resin and supplies are expensive!
kristen hawkins Well you could go a little cheaper start at 50 to 75.00 but I wouldn’t go any cheaper than that eventually that one person is going to come around and see it and change everything for you because they’re going to buy it and tell their friends and they’re Friends are going to tell their friends and that’s how you get started I started out cheaper but then I started selling out so I had to raise my price by quite a bit which is awesome lol thanks Kristen

Lol omg that’s funny and thank you for watching❤️
@@MonicaBarnesArt You are amazing, I love what you do! One day I will too, as you inspired me!
Resin is heavy and tends to pit on canvas. I would be willing to be you had to double seal this after the first dry?
No I didn’t have to double seal it but I don’t work on canvas anymore for that reason.. I only work on MDF board now
Thanks so much Kristin ❤️
What's the benefit of using a hair dryer over a heat gun. Thanks. Plus do you have hair dryer on cool or hot setting ? X
trace taylor
Hi Trace , hair dryer is always on hot to pop the bubbles and to move the resin around the hairdryer actually pushes the pigments a lot better and faster than the heat gun .
But sometimes you don’t want to use the hairdryer because it can push the pigments too much depends on what look you’re going for❤️
What kind of board are you using?
I always use MDF boards very inexpensive and easy to work on thanks for watching❤️❤️
Is this a canvas you are using or a board? If that’s a canvas, how did you fortify it, so the resin doesn’t pool in the middle?
Shireen
Hi Shireen the resin does pull in the middle a little bit I really don’t use canvas anymore
I use MDF boards
What did you use to paint the canvas black?
I really don’t remember I either use the black spray paint , black acrylic paint or a black house paint that’s what I use on all my paintings
