I literally had goosebumps all the time watching this. Felt nostalgic..
This is the best test match ever and ASHES 2005 is the best test series ever!
The end is a bit emotional, it almost made me cry..
And great sportsman spirit by Flintoff there at the end - consoling Brett Lee instead of celebrating the sweet English victory. This is what makes cricket a gentleman's game!

The slow ball from Harmison to get Clarke was the ball of the Test. Grevious Bodily Harmison.

It will always be my favourite moment of the entire series - the guile, the cunning and the courage to bowl a ball like that to a batsman of Clarke's class was just breathtaking. In deference to Sanjay s's comment, Warne was probably THE bowler of the series but that one delivery by Harmison just stands out for me.

I remember this so clearly. Watching in my living room and thinking we were going to do them and then they slowly crawl back into the game and all of sudden that horribly feeling that you're going to lose - they're going to beat us again right at the death. And then 'tick' catch yeahhhhhhhhh!! I actually jumped in the year and ran into the garden celebrating!!! Just fantastic! Best even ending to a test match.
Both teams 100% commitment, I don't know about Australia, but England was alive during this series. Even non cricket fans were talking about it. Brilliant!

This is how to make the perfect cricket video. Highlights, emotions, reactions, succinct commentary, no stupid music or over the top comments. Then the great sense to let the last day's play tell it's own story to just the sound of the crowd. Well done Channel four. If only you would get cricket back instead of having an ignorant buffoon like Botham doing commentary. Fabulous to have been there for the last day with my son, Josh. BTW Thanks Ricky . . . as the song went during the ceremonies . . . you should have batted first.

Someone pointed out to me recently that I should watch Vaughn's face when Ponting says Australia will field first. He really is trying not to grin from ear to ear as he realises that Ponting's just gifted him the initiative.

    • @Round_07

Ponting based his decision on that the team bowling first usually wins at Edgbaston. He missed the vital point: only if it’s overcast! Vaughan clearly couldn’t believe his luck 😆

Both of his innings were stunning, he overcame the shoulder bash to produce beautiful shots and the way his eyes lit up as he saw his six fly over the stands was boyish and brilliant. England got the last wicket and Freddie went straight to Brett Lee. Freddie knew he had just played the greatest test match of all time, and he wanted the aussies to know that too

ThePGtipz 100%. Let me make it very clear, I've never met the man. His intensity on the field is probably unparalleled, I certainly wouldn't fancy playing against him. In all the off the field interviews and just talking about cricket with the love of the game he has, he really comes across as a thoroughly nice guy. No one likes to lose, especially in professional sport, but he never seemed to moan about luck or bitch about it. If you lose, they were better than you on the day, end of story.

I think Macgrath's injury was a huge blow for Australia. He was a proven matchwinner and Australia won or at least drew matches that MacGrath played in that series. But what a fight from Lee and Kasprowicz. For me, there was one stand-out player in that Ashes series whose performance proved to be so vital for England. Flintoff. He was the brand of fearless cricket in that series.

In this case McGrath was suddenly out, and then Ponting immediately lost his mind and made the (self confessed) worst decision of his captaincy career. Unbelieveable double slice of luck. Why or how it all happened is for the cricketing gods to explain. Entire series hinged on this 1st days play.

I don't suppose you have any of the old channel 4 ads with the guy pretending to be W.G. Grace with the good old "WHO DO THE ASHES BELONG TO? SAY IT LOUD AND SAY IT PROUD!" I still shout that about to this day! And shall be shouting it when we knock over the last 4 tomorrow to go 1-0.

This was one hell of A test match.. Goes to show wat aussies are made of.. Yes they are rusty non sportive but boy they are competitive always.. No matter wat.. They have this neck of picking themselves up when everyone least expect them to.. Wat a test match..thats tha reason they are called big game players..specially under ponting...This series belong to two deadly individuals - kevin peterson and andre flinfoff.. That's kevin 158 to save the test..

Andrew Flintoff and some of the other members of the England team were groaning when they saw that Harmison was going to bowl the slower ball!! Then they saw the outcome!! They weren’t groaning after that!!
