I have seen at least 4 different ways of serving the young coconut when I was in Thailand a few months back but this one blew me off. By the way don't go for the chilled one kept in ice. The coconut water tastes just like ice water. The taste of the room temperature young coconut water and the flesh is just amazing. Don't miss this street treat when you are in Thailand.
C.I.A. kitchen at the AT&T complex is where the "gaude manger" master chef taught me back in 1995 in Basking Ridge, NJ.. ..been using the French method since then.. I have done "open station' at breakfast banquet with many different fruits from melons to peaches to kwis to avacados to oranges.. It has been a useful technique throughout my career professionally.. But never on a green Coconut! Thanks for sharing!!

But be careful with your portions because of the potassium content. You may have to be resuscitated with CPR if you do.
