Ladies and gentlemen from the cockpit, we are glad to be announcing that we will be starting our descent shortly. Again excuse us that it took us 678 days but that just speaks on how great of a plane the 787 is and thank you for considering our airline as your vacation destination of choice😊
You have no idea how much this has been needed! I've pretty much exclusively learned to "fly" an airliner right here, and lets just say my takeoffs do not equal my landings. I'm actually totally new to flying and simming in general, it's been quite a learning experience.
The reason for the massive turn there on the approach at 7:40 is the current flight plan system uses current TAS to calculate the turns where the real unit would interpolate and use whatever speed restrictions were loaded. This is a current limitation as it's not quite an easy fix but it should display itself correctly once you get down there and slower.
Excellent content as always. If you’re flying to an airport in real life that you haven’t been to before, do you ever practice the approach in the sim before?
So the Working Title nav displays draw the legs based on your current speed. So when you're at cruise and you look at the terminal area of the map, you're going to see the vectors drawn for mach .83 or whatever. So yeah, as you slow down in during your STAR, those legs start to get drawn properly and the WT FMS flies the route just fine.
Great work as usual. I’d love a 787 HUD video! I have figured out most of the symbols myself but I’m sure I’m missing things- didn’t know about the declutter button at all.
Whilst my PC is away for repair (on/off button AOG!) I've just replayed this fantastic video - reminded me of quite a few steps to take which will hopefully reduce my errors where I just come off AP and fight for a landing 😆 Thanks again!
Thank you as always for your fantastic tutorials, I’m really enjoying learning how to fly the 787 in the sim. Approaches certainly feel a lot more busy in my opinion in a Boeing compared to the Airbus. Having to manually control the speed adds something else to have to think about.
You are very welcome, thanks for watching! Indeed there is a little more to do. The speed dial is of course a bit easier to use in the real aircraft than trying to select on the screen!
Hi, very nice tutorial video to learn from, a lot of details, excellent for us to get that lesson, thanks. my twin brother was a captain on 787 in EL AL Airlines but retired in may this year, never got from him what I got from yours videos, THANKS, Very much appreciat
Can you do a video on a Go-Arounds? I've tried and maybe it's my settings but I hit TOGA and it initially goes to climb power but then the power comes back and I have to turn off the AT's and try to get climb power. Also is it possible to bind a key for the "declutter" mode? Rather than using the mouse to press the button?
Brilliant! Learn't alot once again. Thanks. This is probably a silly question, but when the callouts activate (so to speak) are they measured from the belly of the aircraft or from the wheels? If that makes sense.
Thank you for watching! They are measuring the height from the bottom of the lowest wheels to the ground. That is why on the ground it actually realds a negative number, as the gear is now compressed. I talk about this a bit in my upcoming detailed landing tutorial!
First of all, I would like to thank you for the wonderful videos about the 787. I love to fly this plane! I would like to know which app you use to make replays, they are great too!
So I am flying for a virtual Airline on SimBit World:A Pilot's Life 2. And I've been trying to do multiple legs. But I've come into the issue where when I disconnect the autopilot after landing, the aircraft then won't let me reset it or un-disconnect when I want to fly my next leg. Maybe I'm missing it, but is there an easy way to reset the system so that way I can fly my next leg with a working? autopilot?
Awesome video. An RNAV landing video would be really appreciated. Runway 26R at CYVR. I will be the first to donate! There are no good RNAV approach videos for the 787 on TH-cam.
I never realised that is how FLCH worked, I always thought it would do either climb thrust, or thrust idle, and then pitch for that speed to get to the appropriate level. Also that bug where the throttles went to max on approach doing FLCH is very stressful on VATSIM, you are about to fly through the ILS, and the controller is trying to give you vectors.
Great video! What’s the reason why you don’t put your arrival from the ground? Is it incase you have to turn back around to airport incase of engine failure?
For me the ILS wasn’t automatically tuned in the NAV RAD page, do you have any ideas as to why that might be? Also, I loaded my flight plan through Microsoft Flight Sim and the approach route was also awfully loaded in, it has duplicated a couple of the waypoints and was just a mess so I had to delete out the duplicated ones. Good job I checked the plan view in the cruise!
I'm glad you guys are here to watch a landing video. pls dont fly a plane w/o knowing how to land. we all know how that went the last time it happened.
Excellent tutorial again, thanks 👏🏻🛫 (edit) I tested an ILS appr with the 789 horizon latest update but with entering the glidepath I got a problem with the AP and AT. The speed was suddenly going trough the roof (240 and higher) as I was configured with flap 15. I had to GA. Anyone also problems with an ILS approach?
Hello! I am very confused about something and can’t seem to find an answer anywhere. It is probably me overlooking something but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a top of descent to the flight plan? I want VNAV to be able to descend for me according to it but I can’t figure out how to add a T/D to the flight plan? Am I overlooking something? Thank you!
@@CritiquewithEllison How would I check this? I usually just create my flight plan from the discover page with the globe instead of manually typing it in.
Hi! I have a problem that sometimes with the 787 if i fly on LNAV, change to HDH due Vatsim vectors and back to LNAV again the aircraft is stuck on HDG and not lett me change to LNAV! Have you or some other peopel here have the same problem?
Is the "big loop" after LAM because it draws the route based on the aircraft's current speed, and not the planned speed? As with the FBW A20N, I have seen the loops ahead reduce in size as I have reduced the speed.
I think it is because of the BNN131 waypoint just past the runway centerline. I think you would get a better result if you deleted that. I got the correct path when I set this up recently.

Any day with new 320SP content is a good day! 🎉
Thanks
You are very welcome and thank you so much!
Thank you for this great video. We are lucky we have a real 787 pilot in the community 🎉
An absolutely invaluable resource you are providing us. Very thankful!
How should i land it,if i dont have navigraph charts?

Great video! I just started from zero with the 787-9 two days ago. I feel this video gave me a great boost in the learning curve. Thank you!
Very helpful! I did not realize that the A/T was left on like an Airbus during the landing. Outstanding explanations!

Thank you for all your videos ! Best tutorial I found so far! Can’t wait to see more of your videos on the 787.
Excellent tutorial. Your work is without equal. Thank you much for the time and effort you put into these tutorials.

Top notch video as always.
It's a very useful video for a FOQA analyst like me :)

this weekend is now dedicated to learning the 787 with these wonderful videos! thanks 320 sim pilot for your effort :D
Learned a lot! Very useful information. I will apply on the QW787 :) Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you, really appreciated!
Fantastic work as usual captain
Always thought it was gear down flsp 15
Thank goodness for vert spd mode, the hybrid mod still has its limitations. Small steps. Thanks for this vignette and advice. Cheers!
Thank you very much. Are you using Sky Dolly for the external video? Is that how you did the cockpit replay?
Why don't more people send money? This is like taking a course with a professor.
Yes please we really want a tutorial about different approche please !
Thank you for the fantastic video!
Could you please do a diversion tutorial for the 787? Some of the Divert pages seem to be semi-functional

So i heard a/t is used on landing like an airbus. Is this true? Also i always see the heads up display. Do pilots always use then

Love the content. Ever thought of starting your own Manta Airlines Virtual Airline ?
Excellent Video! Could you pleased do a video about the bird/FPV?
Which 787 is best? Kuro or hs? Can u make video about it
Great as always!!! Thanks !!
Another great video!
Nice Video! What kind of Joystick profile are you using ? Normally Linear?
“this is pretty accurate”
*literally a second later
“that’s too fast” 😂
I'm glad you guys are here to watch a landing video. pls dont fly a plane w/o knowing how to land. we all know how that went the last time it happened.
3:27 What if runway has changed while I’m cruising, how do I set the STAR for that runway?
What's the max flap you can have out with the thrust levers at idle and gear up and not get the landing gear warning horn in the 787 ?
What replay tool do you use?

is this the default 787 that comes with MSFS2020 premium deluxe?
Looks like someone got a promotion

Should be automatically populated make sure all you're altitudes are set in the fmc

Is this with the working title update?

I don't even know how to configure a glider for landing...
😂
Is this not exactly what you would do in real world ops
Thanks
