    For those wondering why Jesper didn't win the turn he cast silence, Kenrith reads "target player draws a card" so after consultation resolves, with Thassa on the stack still, he would have lost due to Kenrith.

    What a legend. Of course he painted the best card in the game, Colossal Dreadmaw.
    It's actually so broken the EDH committee can't ban it so cEDH players choose not to play it by agreement.

    • @TheOriginalKnight

    • @noy6291
      @noy6291 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I think it’s because Kenrith can activate his draw ability while Thassa’s Oracle (or it’s ability) is the stack after resolving Consultation. This will cause Jesper to lose from deckout before Oracle activates its ability.

    • @anthonyscott6460
      @anthonyscott6460 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It has a very low deckbuilding cost at only 3 slots so it's slotted into decks as opposed to building around it.
      The decks that do build around it make their decks incredibly proactive and fast because the combo is only 3 mana often also lowering their cmc to leverage better Ad Naus

Especially in red and black where it’s super difficult to get rid of enchantments. What are the ways to play around it?

    • @PlayingWithPowerMTG
      @PlayingWithPowerMTG  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dajosh96 When you discard a madness card, you discard it into exile, circumventing the Necropotence exile clause. The necropotence exile is a trigger, and can be responded to. This is where necromancy comes into play, as you can cast it as an instant in response to the exile trigger. This allows you to discord worldgorger and bring it back with Necromancy in order to start the loop.

      So it essentially sacrificing having two other cards to combo with worldgorger in the deck with to aggressively dig through the deck faster.

    Y'all rely on counterspells too much and not enough targeted removal. There is no reason that Jesper should be allowed to keep everything he plays. It's infuriating to see so much hate directed towards Folger and very little goes at Jesper. So little went at him that he was able to keep the few counters he had. It's as if y'all allowed him to win because he was the guest on your channel. Seriously guys, consider more removal spells than maybe someone won't have such an easy win as Jesper did here.

    • @batardglouton5455
      @batardglouton5455 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The lack of removal is a common cEDH problem and for a good reason. It's usually a very bad deal to lose a card one for one, slowing you down and letting the other player who didn't interact getting ahead while you spent a card and mana to deal with this. I still agree that we should run more single removal spell.

    • @charlesmaillho367
      @charlesmaillho367 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@batardglouton5455 I can 100% see where you're coming from. Resources, resource management, and timing are all integral parts of winning a cEDH game. My issue is that if you don't have a counterspell in hand to deal with a problematic card and no one else in the pod has one either, there is almost no way of getting rid of those problems. Yes, we see cards like Fire Covenant, Nature's Claim, Toxic Deluge, and Assassin's trophy to help deal with problems but that's only 4 cards out of so many options. Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, Rapid Hybridization, Beast Within, Pongify, vindicate, etc. Those cards very rarely get played if even put into the decklist! Some of these have high mana costs and I get why they aren't the first choice but that then means you have fewer ways to stop someone from winning.
      In my mind, more answers and ways of dealing with your opponents' win conditions is never a bad thing.
