What can be fun is adding an abandonned rail that isn't connected to the track as if the industry had been previously serviced by rail but isn't anymore
Here's a tip that I do when working with long decals, work with one decal at a time, when applying the decal into the water take both index fingers and gently flatten out and hold the decal down for about 30 seconds and it should hold its shape while setting up in the water. Bonus tip: I use distilled water for my decals at room temperature as tap water might contain chemicals to make it safe for drinking but could weaken or damage decals, plus a gallon of distilled water cost very little ( a gallon jug can cost less than 2$ in some places) and last a long time.I've been using the same jug for nearly 3 years.. good luck ,the layout is looking great..👍
Great work on not getting frustrated and overcoming the obstacles! It also helps to see others have the same problems that I have, so thank you for sharing the decal issues.
Very nice looking scenery there. Love watching you at work. Sorry the decals were a pain to get on, but in the end you pulled it off😊! Thanks for sharing.
Scenery & new industry in the HO scale layout. Good job my friend. The 🐱 Binx in the layout. Scooby Doo is a good dog, Binx friend. Scooby Dum is a nice dog. Scrappy Doo my pup, Binx friend.
Nice video mate. The scene came together nicely. Here is a tip for when you put decals on your models. Use warm water with a dash of dishwashing liquid. Those two together will stop the decal from curling up when it comes in contact with the water. Decals are not an easy thing to apply especially to a surface that's not flat! Hope that helps. Looking forward to the next one.
Suggest keeping the decal on the paper backing when removing it from the water, place it near the location and slide it off with a brush or foam blotter-having the surface wet with the “Sol” or water allows it to be positioned. Maybe that’s why they’re called “water slide decals”
Awesome work as always! I'm working on some very similar topography in my layout soon so this has great tips to go by. The decals still look good, I sometimes try to blend torn decals into some weathering so that it looks a little more realistic, like a faded or damaged/scratched finish that messed up part of a sign or logo.
Your videos are fun! I would suggest that when you apply decals not to take the decal off of the backing paper until it’s almost in position where you intend to put it. Especially one that big, get it close to where it’s going and slide the paper out from under it. Good job though
I made a hill thing about a meter long out of a poly box. I've now covered with air dry clay. Looks ok. I just got to wait a few days now. If it works I might try some buildings.
Great video of the progress you've made! I really like the area you did for the Propane Tanks. The ground, road and the walls turned out great! I'm really impressed with your layout and enjoy your videos! Thanks again Trey and look fwd to the next video. Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA. I had a Reconstructive back surgery on March 1st and going through my recovery period now along with physical therapy.
@@TopRailroadif you were ever to get stickers of your TH-cam channel would you be willing to donate one to add to the wal in my railroad room I'm creating? My lay is coming along nicely but on hold as I heal up.
Great scene TR.....the layout is really coming together!! Hey I'd add a set of Rix Product's auto guard rails along the edge of the retaining wall. That's one hell of a drop- off!!!
Good work! This is just my two cents here. To add more interest I would have had a switch come off that curve. Then have track go up a small embankment and to those tanks as a one car siding for the propane dealer. I’m into switching, so when I see some space I think best how to utilize it for an industry. You’ve got a great track foreman, I’ve got four myself. :-) I’ve subbed your channel, I’ll share mine with you when I start uploading videos.
@@TopRailroad Yes, that’s the flip side when things get too crowded, gotta find a balance. Especially if it’s rural, wouldn’t be as crowded as say an urban setting where things are often times more condensed.
Might consider doing a little earthmoving or civil site, could have half built building, grading and asphalt equipment, just a little touch to make it feel like its developing.
Sometimes if the decals are old they get brittle, spray a light coat of gloss or dull coat on before soaking. It actually works really good and firms up the decal, the decal might seem a little thicker but the solvent will hold it down.
Looks nice and great recovery on the decal. But, what should you have done different with the decal? I would had done the same thing. I love Binx, he’s the BEST influencer on TH-cam.
what kind of tape is this? dont know if we have stuff like this in switzerland. or maybe another word for this. but great idea to do a road. thanks for the vid!
Sculptamold is a much better product than WS Mold a Scene,IMO. Sculptamold is much easier to work with and holds down better on the foam. Great Video, Thanks for Sharing!
You did an excellent job by proving that not every industrial site has to be rail-serviced.

agree - siding still there but weeded up, and switch from main is pulled or severed @@kevo05s

Always used my fingers to apply decals. I have those tanks they are 25 years old.
what kind of tape is this? dont know if we have stuff like this in switzerland. or maybe another word for this. but great idea to do a road. thanks for the vid!
It’s pop dot tape, I get it at my local dollar tree. It’s kinda like woodland scenics paving tape just much cheaper!
The reason the decals didn’t work at 18:27 was because you need to take them directly from the backing paper to the propane tanks
👍
Yay
I would like to buy foam and Do a train layout like you and Nice layout
Could you give us a link for that tape you used, thanks. ☃️👍👍
I’ll add it to the description soon here
Hi I like your propane tank
Thank you!
what do you use for your bench for the layout ?
It’s all 2x2s and 1/8 inch plywood
@@TopRailroad preicate it sauceboss
every time I go to the dollar tree store here in my town, i ask them if they have any of that tape and they say they don't carry it.
Oh man that sucks, mine always has it in the arts/crafts section. Maybe they don’t know what it is
Are you no adding roadbed under your track ?
Not on these sections of the layout since there’s so much tracks. Industrial/yard areas are sometimes flat and not elevated
