  • A really cool approach to runway 10 at Genoa Airport in Italy. JustPlanes is on the Flight Deck of the VOLOTEA Boeing 717-200 for a flight from Venice. As we approach Genoa the winds require the crew to change plans and make a landing on runway 10, to do this you make an approach on the ILS to runway 28 and you break off that landing and make a visual approach for the other runway with great views on final specially in that big final turn!
    Just Planes welcome Volotea, the 254th airline in our Flight in the Cockpit, to our series! This fast growing airline is one of only a handful of 717 operators in the world and we're delighted to feature them and this great aircraft! The airline's Flight Operations Director hosts 8 of the 12 flights in this film which is packed with many great pilot presentations and some exciting routes and destinations across Italy!

    What a neat clean uncluttered flight deck this is. Even though it has glass displays it does not feel like the boring sterile hospital-like flight decks of the Airbuses. I hear pilots speak very highly of the 717 and you can see the MD11 influence in the instrument panel and the voice alert betraying this planes Douglas heritage.

      The airframe resembles a refresh of the DC9 Series 30, and is IMO one of the sleekest and most beautiful commercial jetliners ever made.

    Beautiful landing in beautiful Genoa, where I had the pleasure of living for six years - from 1969 to 1975. 😊
    Flew on DC-9s and Caravelles to Rome from there several times. Bella Italia!

    Love the cockpit and pilot view. The 717's cockpit looks amazing for an older aircraft; it came out around 1998 to 1999 but was introduced way before that. In the US, Delta is the only one with this aircraft and when I was on it, it was amazing. I also know Hawaiian Airline has this aircraft for flying to the other Islands in Hawaii from their main hub. This plane doesn't act like an older plane at all. I enjoy listening to these pilots and watching what they do. You learn a lot by watching these videos. Talk about that view outside though; it's beautiful. The terrain, landscape, the coast, the view of the city, and that water are all amazing. Awesome landing that sounds great, friendly great pilots, and a beautiful plane; I love it all. Awesome video.

      Oh common they cheated - they could see! Do it to minimums without seeing ground and then you know you did well. My first 717 leg with Boeing instructors was to RNY 04 circle 31R @ JFK and they would never let us see outside until 250. I miss my Alteon instructors.... They get the most out of you.

    Boeing 717 aren’t make anymore. It’s pretty vintage for this bird.
    I hope this bird is quite safe for any flights. Let’s replace to 737 or A-320 with NEO.

    So they make you guys go around in circles to satisfy a specific arrival time? Go here, go here, go here.... meanwhile, there isnt another plane on the radar and your burning gas....

    • @Dani1996ITA
      @Dani1996ITA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't be stupid! You can hear on the radio that there was an Alitalia approaching before them. And when circling to land is in use only one plane at the time can start the approach otherwise if the plane on final for rwy10 go around and the other one is on the ILS for rwy28 they will be on opposite and intercepting course.
