Really love how this keeps the "Tales of loss, and fire, and faith" motif if you listen carefully. Everything about the soundtrack in this expansion is stellar.
Yeah, that melody and its lyrics really do represent the ancients' plight as much as ours. (Spoilers below) Perhaps one of the most fulfilling parts of EW's story is that Zenos is a critical player in the final fight. Since he's Emet Selch's progeny, it's like the ancients are with us during the fight, battling against the force that destroyed their civilization so long ago.
@@jahoopyjaheepu497 if you intend to hide spoilers, maybe a few empty lines would serve better. (I couldn't help but spotting a few words in the current layout QwQ
I remember the moment I came here for the first time. Seeing my WoL all on his own, in this huge, empty world with the center... as grand as it was... equally as beautiful as it was heartbreaking. Mare Lamentorum means "Sea of Laments," or "Sea of Sorrows."
Mare, or Maria plural, are what they call the dark spots on the moon, vast basins filled with dark volcanic basalt created by ancient lava flows. It keeps with the theme that we can only find the ancients in long buried, far flung, flooded, forgotten places. The song really captures a sense of longing to be remembered. I remember reaching this place and feeling so alone, having witnessed such suffering in Garlemald, wandering this ancient rock, I had my WoL’s body and strength back, but I still felt powerless. And feeling that existential sense of helplessness that I play videogames to distract myself from, the sadness hit me like a wave. Damn it Ishikawa, why you gotta do me like this.
and this instantly goes on a permanent loop I fell in love with this track, and can't help but relate it to the Amaurotines. The chanting reflects a peaceful society so ancient, beautiful, and foreign, yet lost to us, forever. It solidifies that sense of longing we felt in Amaurot; our new, old home- a sense of nostalgia for something our sundered soul just can't recall. Where Amaurot's track suggested unstoppable sorrow and doom (the clock ticking), this track is lighter and progressive- things can get better; we can fix this. Whatever I may be feeling, I find so much melancholy and comfort in the peacefulness it brings.
For me it felt the opposite, it felt haunted and suffocating, the air was thick with the lamentations of those sacrificed to Zodiark, and their longing for their lost home.
for me it feels like the suffering they had endured all these years in the moon. at the end zordiak isn't pure evil ... it is a responsibility a huge one ...
I have over a thousand hours in Elite Dangerous. I've travelled everywhere, I've seen all kinds of planets, I've landed and explored many of them. Scanned, charted and rode my space buggy on so many moons and planets. The feeling of stepping on the moon in Endwalker dwarfed all my ED adventures. It felt so powerful and meaningful.
@@Hussman493 I can't go back to that game after Odyssey. They sorta ruined the game for me. That expansion turned off my friends from the game as well. So now it's just over. Sad, the many many screenshots that I have on my steam account are still my treasures.
This is a beautiful theme for outer space. I envision a child sleeping, being cradled by his mother. You feel how small you are, in the enormous expanse of the universe. And when the vocals come in, you almost feel like you're witnessing something on an eternal, godly scale. They knocked it out the park with this one.
And at the same time this is a remix of Footfalls. The piano melody is the "Tales of loss and fire and faith", while the quiet chanting is a variation of the starting vocals of Footfalls. Many of the music themes in the game are intertwined by sharing melodies, known as leitmotifs
This is when Endwalker really became great for me. Love this place, I often sit there and look at the landscape while waiting for Duty Finder to pop. Now, if only we could get Moon housing lol.

Yeah, except when the main theme of Endwalker hits that eurotrash 90s punk vibe with that dogshit singer. "Born from blood, born from blood" literally ruined that song for me. @@ssjonupants Wha..? Raspy ass? Dogshit singer..? Mate did you ever, in your entire life, listen to Metal? I'm not talking about bands like "Metallica" or "Pantera" or other heavy metal bands, but those of other styles? Like metal core?
