    Will definitely go with Geos and severums in my next tank. I would also love to keep an oscar at some point. The oscar seems to work well in your 180, but could perhaps be a bit risky with the geos? Maybe if I give the geos a head-start and add the oscar later?

      Thanks for watching! My Oscar is doing fine with them, but I do think it’s a good idea to grow out the geos before adding a small Oscar. If they’re both added in small, the Oscar will quickly outgrow them and could lead to issues

      I started with 3 golds and 4 Bolivians. One Bolivian is in bad shape I just don’t have another tank for him. He’s not growing very well. The largest of my gold rams passed and I think he was honestly beat up by the other golds which are probably a pair. The one Bolivian that’s getting bullied I’m assuming is a small male and the others are 2 females and a male. Geos I have no idea, but 2 hang out and 1 gets chased every so often by the other 2. None of these fish have ever actually fought though. I’ve never seen fin nipping, just some harsh chasing sometimes. The geos are the rams max size already so even the one that gets chased is very healthy still. Reason I’m not worried about pulling out any of these guys are they’re so hardy it’s insane, especially the Bolivians and even the geos in my experience. I mean toilet bowl fish like convicts or something. Golden rams are a little more difficult but still extremely hardy

    Hello troy and the cichlid brothers, i recently watched the geophagus red head tapajos cichlids and how you started with 7 very small babies and have grown them on to what they are today which are stunning fish .
    im about to purchase a 5ft long x 2ft high x 2ft deep tank it will house 5 x geophagus tapajos these will be grown on first in a 340 litre tank 75 us gallons
    They will eventually be housed with , 2 x electric blue acaras , 2 x festivum cichlids, 2 x key hole cichlids , 5 x roseline sharks and 2 x female brislenose plecos , Plants to be Anubias attached to bog wood with rocks to form some caves , substrate to be sand . My tank will hold 566 litres which if im correct is 149. 521 US gallons , filtration will be the fluval f6 cannister.
    water to be run through a 3 pod HMA unit and stored, with my tank having 2 water changes per week.
    question 1 what lighting do you advice , question 2 in what order should i introduce my fish question 3 will it be ok to put some slate in my tank , question 4 what sand do you advice i use, and how deep should it be .
    Any suggestions regards stocking , plants etc will be very welcome i now subscribe and like all your videos which im finding to be very helpful Paul from the UK

    How many of your main 3 would you have in a 125. Geos, severums, and acara?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could do 2-3 severums, couple EBAs and a small group of tapajos in a 125. It's a great trio

    Great Job. Nice video. You showed Bala Shark in 1/3 of the tanks you showed. Surprised it was not one of your picks. One of my favorites; but I don't keep any of your picks. However looks like fun.😀🙂🤔Next tank perhaps!

      Thank you! They are good tank mate options foe sure. Only left them off because they require a very large tank. But love Balas!

    Can I get away with x1 tiger barb x1 geophagus x1 severum x1 blue acara. Is that ok or do any of them need more of their own

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cichlids will do okay solo. The tiger barbs prefer to be in schools

    I bought some geophagus tapajos but they turned out to be geophagus abalios would you say they also like the tank mates form this video?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They would likely be fine with almost all on the list. Some of the medium sized tetras could be in danger but overall think the list can be transferable to the abalios

    Hi guys, I'm new to the hobby. Are geos aggressive if I keep them in a species only tank? Also can I mix different geophagus in the same tank?
    Somebody reply ASAP please.

    • @CichlidBros

      Hey there. They are relatively peaceful for cichlids. You can definitely keep a group together. Tapajos, sveni, winemilleri, surinamensis are some that can go together well.

      @@CichlidBros Thanks for the reply. Also I'm confused between which to add, Geophagus Or frontosa Or both together.(I understand both are from different places but it's just a doubt) I just need to know which option will result in a peaceful tank. I don't want aggressions going on in my tank, as I learned how aggressive fishes can be from malawi cichdlids. 🥲
