    I am study in secondary middle school now.When l was junior one student,l study in Kian Kok Middle School. And then have a day,l remember my junior one moral teacher want us to write your dream for yourself.I write l want to be a pilot it is because l like travel.Then, l have two years want to finish my middles school.After one years,l want went to airlines universities study and know how to control the plane,take off and landing.If one day, l have be got to do the airline captain.I will try to inspire my new junior pilot.I will training him to be a good future's pilot.If l saw anything has wrong,l will call my passengers to take the seatbelt because safe is number one.I hope one day my dream will become true.Then,I can flight to more country to take the passengers everyday to another country to enjoy their travelling.I also hope l will have a captain to teach and training me landing and take off the plane. I am also hope l can be a good pilot.Good luck for myself.

      +BoA Yoon Then check the guys and girls working at Regional Express flying Saab 340Bs, they do a lot of work, arguably more than the guys at cathay.

    • @m3tty
      @m3tty 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Howard “Howardflyer” Lau I know you're a child, but no need to act disrespectful. I don't actually think you know what it entails to become a pilot and continuing to be one. You say 'arguably', and an argument it is. Big jet guys are limited by legal limits. When those pilots are being pushed to the very limit, flying long haul, on 12-16hr sectors, away from home and family for 2 weeks a month (cumulatively), are you saying the regional pilots who do maybe 4 much much shorter sectors per day, and then go home to their families, "arguably" work harder than the Cathay or big jet pilots? I would love for you to tell say the same argument to the Airbus pilots of Cathay or the pilots of Dragonair or the United's or Air Canada etc. They will hang you up to dry kid!

    • @howardflies
      @howardflies 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      m3tty Yes I am a child according to the United Nations, however did you know I have soloed? Have you soloed? Have you earned your wings? If you haven't I advise you to shut up.
      Min age to solo in Hong Kong is 16

    • @howardflies
      @howardflies 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      m3tty Regional guys have more takeoff and landing cycles, sometimes even flying aircraft with autopilot inoperative, hence their superior stick and rudder skills

    • @howardflies
      @howardflies 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One does not simply compare an ab initio cadet to a direct entry Air Canada or United pilot, who most likely spent time flying night freight on props with inoperative autopilots etc, and more likely has more PIC time than an average pilot who came out of a 250hr TT ab initio program with a frozen ATPL

      One of the main requirements for being a foriegn pilot for Cathay Pacific is your country of origin must have diplomatic relations with China. Currently individuals from countries such as Greece, Israel, Egypt, Philippines, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will not be accepted.

    l was like to watch the captain's movie.When l am junior one student,l still remember my another one subject teacher give me a paper and then my subject teacher tell us to write our dream.Then,l am writing l want to a good pilot.But,l know if want to be a pilot,we are needing to check the engine. As a training captain,we need know how to inspire the junior,and let they can be a good captain.When the pilot going to the plane, the pilot will follow the SOP to doing the job.After that,if want to be a good pilot,this things was not enough.Remember,when you think haven't any wrong,the wrong will come to find you.All movements in the cockpit must be accurate and detailed.Any step cannot have wrong.l hope one day when l am graduation, l hope l can go to civil aviation university of china or Taichung, Taiwan study about the airplane.

    If you wanna be a good pilot, take the hard way. Get a CPL and FI rating, get a regional job flying props, that would train your stick and rudder. Rack up 1000+ hours, fly some bush, skydiving and instructing. Only then you should be looking at the big jets. FTA is a sausage factory, that is they focus on the speed of cadet graduation than the quality of the cadets. Many of what I call "Disciples of flight", people who really mastered the art of flying came from areas in which aircraft doesn't have fancy G1000s and autopilots for cross country solos.
    So do your research, and if you want to be able to deal with emergencies on big jets, take the hard way. Unless you want to be a one trip only pilot.

    • @m3tty
      @m3tty 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Howard “Howardflyer” Lau You make it sound like you know what you are talking about. I highly doubt you know a thing about the real world, never mind the hard work and dedication it takes to maintain to becoming an airline pilot. The hard way? There isn't really an easy way, and that is why your naivety will cut you short. You've certainly cut your bridges to ever joining Cathay or Dragon.

    • @howardflies
      @howardflies 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      m3tty That didn't come from me, I am just quoting what my own instructor, who was one of those bush pilots turned airline pilots said. Also, I never thought of going into the airlines flying big jets, too much coasting on autopilot and not enough hands on flying. I might work as a pipeline inspection pilot or bush pilot, flying those machines from the golden age in my opinion is much better than flying an A330 at 35,000 on autopilot most of the time

    • @howardflies
      @howardflies 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      m3tty or should I say, the old way. Before all these cadetships even existed outside the air force

    • @m3tty
      @m3tty 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Howard “Howardflyer” Lau Cadet pilots training to be airline pilots with no air force background has been going on since the 60's. Considering that flight was discovered a little over 100 years ago, I'd say cadet schemes are a proven method of training pilots. Enjoy bush flying and I hope you don't change your mind. God forbid anyone having to sit beside you alone in the cockpit for anymore than 5 minutes.

    • @m3tty

      The cadets must be HK permanent residents because Cathay spends more than HK$1 million to train a cadet and wants them to stay for the long term instead of leaving after a few years. So of course it's not very diverse. But the actual make up of their pilots, including captains and first officers, is quite diverse. One might even say **too** diverse because most of them aren't from HK.

    If you want to feel depressed, look at the comments about this clip on pprune, from the usual bunch of racist expats living in their dreamworld, where CX's sole objective should be to let them become millionaires. I respect the young people on this clip. As for the dinosaurs on the other site, I wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.

    • @SenorCrazylegs
      @SenorCrazylegs 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +georgetjn I think most people are just looking for a fair working schedule and to prevent their pay being cut each year by failure to address inflationary rises. Pilots can't move jobs very easily and they are often in millions (hkd) of debt due to training. Agreed, Pprune is toxic and depressing, but don't be fooled by a vocal minority. They deserve to be protected by their employer, not harassed about fatigue etc. It's not a good company and the HK employment ordinance is part of the problem.

    Geez....in the States, you will typically be in your late 30s or 40s before you will have a shot being a 1st officer at a major. Here you guys seem to be taking high school kids to be 2nd officers. How safe is flying with CX really? How much experience they will have without having gone thru training like with the navy or air Force? If there comes to a time like the Hudson River miracle situation, I don’t know any of these folks will be able to handle any of that, let’s say if they have been a 2nd for 10 years....

    • @edwink1467
      @edwink1467 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Geez you didn't watch the video. A CX cadet goes through a year of ground and flight training in Australia before returning to HK to train in simulators. Then they become second officers who sit behind the captain and first officers in long haul flights and don't actually fly the plane. They will continue their training as second officers until a few years later when they are considered and evaluated for promotion to first officer. Only then will they be allowed to touch the controls of a jet carrying several hundred people. You act like they pick up random HK high school kids and put them in the pilot's seat without any training and be like "good luck!" If you are worried about safety, you can always google Cathay's safety record and see how many high school kids crashed their planes.
