  • This driver kept speeding up when I tried to pass, then slowed when I was behind him. Karma shows up in the form of a blow out, fed ex truck.

    Back in the day you used to be able to get on the radio and ask them what speed they are going to run at so you can adjust your speed accordingly or remind them about the cruise control button but nowadays nobody has a CB anymore.

      That's the good thing about technology. Some trucks have radar in them, and they'll tell you on the dash exactly what speed the person in front of you is going. Even if cruise is set at 70, cruise wont let you go over what the vehicle in front of you is going.

    Fed ex is notorious for speeding up when you wanna pass. My truck is not governed.....a Fed ex driver found that out the hard way. It's not right by no means. But sometimes people need a dose of there own medicine. Don't be an ass and you won't be treated like one.

      Your right Fedex trucks are governed at just over 60 so they can't really speed up to stop you from passing unless it's a downhill grade. Unless the states you drive in allow trucks to go faster. Most drivers drive the speed limit or 5 over where it's governed. Then again you probably shouldn't be trying to go 70-75 when it's 55 for trucks or 15-20mph over the limit.

      This is FedEx Ground. They are outside contractors for FedEx. They are owner operators and are not governed trucks. They also don't stop at Rail Road crossings when placarded for haz-mat. They just keep on moving like it wasn't even there.

      It's not like you need a masters degree to be a truck driver. The demand vs supply in the last 20 years has dictated what type of people they end up hiring. Used to be that drivers were courteous and safe. Not any more. They are paid by the mile and the faster you drive the more money you make. Even a high school dropout can easily be a truck driver. Felons, drug addicts, welcome one and all.

      They are most drivers are speed demons and like going 15-20 over the limit for trucks for no reason. FedEx trucks are limited to around 5 mph over the highest limit in the state/area. So you can't speed up much if any to stop someone unless it's downhill.

    • @pepedrat2982
      @pepedrat2982 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The problems I see in the UK, and I think it's the same everywhere, is that two drivers will both put the pedal fully down, and the gradients (grades?) mean one keeps nearly overtaking, but never quite manages it.
      One of them should back down, but neither will.

    I drive for Fedex Freight and yes our tractors are governed and in my 23 years I have not and will never speed up when another driver is passing nor will I ever roll across a railroad crossing and not stop if I have hazmat on board as far as those FedEx ground drivers yes they are contractors and own their own tractors so I would imagine they can run as fast as they please I wouldn't do it but hey each to his own liking we just need to be safe and look out for one another out there everyday because safety is number one!! We all move America everyday and without us nothing moves as good as the trucking industry can!! Keep on trucking!!

    That is just so annoying when drivers will not let you pass. Trucks here in Ireland and Europe are limited to 90kmh (56mph). There are to many "steering wheel attendants" who haven't a clue about road manners to other trucks. The concept of easing off cruise control for a few seconds is too much to handle for them.

      It's not always about stopping someone who makes you. Most drivers go 10-15 mph over the limit cut over with a car length space and slow back down causing the driver in the right lane to hit there brakes and gain a cushion back. All this because someone wants to go over the speed limit to get there load there faster.

    Yesterday I was coming home from school when I saw a truck slowly going up a hill and it was rolling coal and then white smoke came out from under the truck and white smoke stared pouring out the stacks and I was barely moving and today I heard a truck tyre blow out😟😟😟

      I worked at UPS for 38 years. They did the same thing. We called it a "rain shield". It keeps rain from coming in under the door and getting packages wet.

    FedEx Ground isn't the same as Freight or Express. Yeah, we are governed at 64 to 65 mph, but Ground is not.

      @@jdeal42460, I understand that Ground run owners were told they would lose their contract if they didn't turn their trucks down, that is true, but I'm a semi driver and I'm passed nightly by Ground trucks. I'm governed to 65. They are running faster than 65...... If you own or run for Ground and your truck or trucks are governed, you my friend are one of a few that are following the rules.

    Can someone please reveal the reason there is often plastic coming out of the back of freight trucks like in this video.

    • @DaylightRobberyCA
      @DaylightRobberyCA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cody Taber when the dockworkers seal such a trailer, they cap off roughly half of the opening with a sheet of plastic to keep rain off the freight, and then close the door. The door doesn’t make a perfect seal, thus the plastic.

    • @codytaber6304
      @codytaber6304 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DaylightRobberyCA Thank you! Finally the mystery solved. I've asked many freight drivers; they didn't even seem aware. I suppose this would more likely be a shipment from one warehouse to another and not customer deliveries.

    • @DaylightRobberyCA
      @DaylightRobberyCA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cody Taber they probably didn’t know because many truck drivers never started out on the loading dock and if you’re driving you just back your van up to the loading dock and drop the trailer and let the dock workers deal with it. Yeah, the plastic is common for freight on the longer routes, city drivers don’t use the plastic.

    I noticed that you were going 70 when you tried to pass the Fed X truck. After he had a blow out and you got by him your speed was 68 to 69 mph. Why not just follow him a few hundred yards back at the same speed he was going?
    Then you wouldn’t be blocking the left lane. Oh I know, you might get to your destination one minute sooner.

    • @RobertCookdarkarts
      @RobertCookdarkarts  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually I had my cruise set to 70mph! It just takes cruise control a little longer to get back up to the set speed than it does if you where using the pedal! But it saves fuel, slowing and speeding back up cost fuel. That's why we don't like being slowed down. It doesn't seem like much but at the end of the month that fuel adds up majorly.

  • @bobbyslaton3737
    @bobbyslaton3737 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    FedEx didn't "speed up"? Red truck light + white truck heavy + hills. If you can't do simple math.......
