a benefit of the leghugger that you glossed over is that its incredibly good with scheme and other similar synergies. when you go to activate the leghuggers spikes, it only actually activates when its close enough to enemies. however it will still always proc scheme, even the leghugger hasn't even hit anyone. basically as long as you have leghugger you can have perma scheme uptime

I totally agree however outside of bosses wouldn't throwable objects be the better choice? In that build you do probably still need stun grenade for bosses but otherwise throwable objects has the same effect just without the cooldown.
i think throwable objects & baseball bat carried your run. if you need a quick aoe just use powerfull grenade and if you need the crit cobdition active then wolf trap, and throwable/boy axe will handle it just fine. for your other slot just use something like corrupted power, a turret for some synergies, diverse deck, ice armor, or any generally good skill that actually helps your run.
Stun grenade and root grenade actually go hard with the baseball bat, especially root grenade when paired with the mutation that reduces cooldowns when hitting a rooted or frozen enemy
Tonic is my go-to for Boss Rush and for the second part of a normal Survival play-through on 5BC. The ability to prevent all damage is insane and it works much better than Frozen Armor as long as you aren't at full health. And if you are, you don't really need help (also can still use Tonic even at full health for the guaranteed shield effect that they added when they removed speed buff from it).
i like to use tonic for facetank builds, in one of my recent runs i paired it with extended heal for spoiler boss where the idea was that i just commit to my attack while facetanking and i will be healing it all up and tonic made me borderline invincible. heart of ice made it much more reliable too
There's actually a immortality combo you can make its Blood Sucker (aspect) Collecter's Syringe And Open Wound All you need to do is use collectors syringe on any enemy and you'll get all you health back

16:30 a huge synergy for tactical leghugger is an ice crossbow with "upon thawing victim suffers from bleed" affix, the moment the leghugger attacks, it becomes a crit and if leghugger happens to have +175% damage to frozen targets, that's a lot of damage from the little guy.

I've found that Face Flask and Infantry grenade have actually become my go-to brutality skills, not because of their insane damage but just because of their fast cooldown, which allows them to utilize a lot of affix-based synergies on demand. A Face Flask that covers the ground with burning oil is actually just an instant win, and infantry grenade can apply status effects to a large crowd of enemies if you're in a tight spot. it is somewhat luck-based, but as long as you upgrade them to three affix slots they can last you an entire run.
@@misterbako9871 There are a couple weapons and mutations that cause you to deal more damage after you take damage, most prominently the Spite Sword and Vengeance. Normally, to trigger their effects, you have to risk taking a big hit from an enemy, but if you have a face flask, you can just bash yourself for a measly 5 points of damage and go to town. Plus, y'know, affixes can make a difference.

The Barnacle can roll +80% to poisoned target with is what makes it a super powerful dps. It can also roll toxic cloud on deploy so that you do not need any other item to ensure its crit. It is one of the best imo

I quickly found out why, and after the short like 6/7 times I got there (and got the Tesla coil finally) I never intend to go back there! Unless... There are other blueprints there I haven't gotten yet. Also, thank you for the guides, recently got my 3rd BsC (which took me around 40 hours from the previous one) and after that I actually got my 4th BsC the next day (5 hours playtime later).
Emergency doors can theoretically be some way to apply burning oil instantly, if it has spreading oil that burns when destroyed affix. But there are probably too many alternatives that achieve the similar result and actually do some damage
C is pretty generous for Tonic, seriously i have never in my life had a reason to take it and it infuriates me that every chest i open has a 90% chance to give me tonic

Survival also have most of the shields, slow but strong weapons and 2 handers as it gives the most health per rank. vampyrism is c- or d for me as it is so situational but for those runs where you go agressive and take chip damage continously vampyrism is a way to refresh when you are low enough and meet a group of enemies. The door on the other hand, discard on sight even the stun granade is better and I only use that one if I want a cc effect and nothing else came up. Stun granade is a decent entry point for newcombers to get accustumed to cc skills though. Edit; should mention that this is on 2-3 boss cells as 4-5 boss cells chip damage isn't chip damage anymore
Guy above said he uses it on 5BC runs. I'm new and I also like it. A big dangerous enemy is on the screen? Pop it to get 8k hp and dmg reduction, face tank. That's like a flask charge which costs 20k.
maybe mixing tonic, vampirism, and frantic sword in 5 bc could be a good play, speed boost plus most likely giving you less than 50 health for the sword, but also have tonic and maybe disengagement for one shot protection. just a thought
Again I must praise the cursed sword for training me into an excellent player. Because I got used to the fast sparatic movements needed to stay alive, I ended up making extreme use of the sickles when I eventually bought the dlc.
I managed to do a bleed build with cleaver and knife dance on top of open wounds and bleed affixes and I just melted everything in my way. Bleeding is insane if you can get all the pieces.
for me the best synergy is Hattori's Katana, some shield you like, Magnetic Grenade and Instinct of the Master of Arms. you can literally kill huge amount of enemies and reload your granade instantly. you can also paly aorund with different mutations
Every time I use phaser/grappling hook to do a lot of damage with assassin's dagger, I eventually regret it. Not that those aren't good interactions, but I feel like you this type of build ends up quite vulnerable to even like, having one rat in front of your desired target
actually you could have added the baseball bat to the synergies of phaser too because after phasing for a short time enemies get rooted so it hits like a truck and destreys bosses
Thanks for the great vdo's. One thing that would be most helpful for those of us on 1BC would be to understand the terminology of the mutations and weapons, so we can better select the proper mutuation with the proper weapon...I'll provide areas were our group of friends don't quite understand: a. Ice Grenade says 6 sec...does that mean the bomb is active for a full 6 seconds?. It states " -6% damage received " - does that mean while the bomb is active, if we were to receive damage, we would get a decrease in damage by 6%? Biters crawl from the dead - what does this mean? and how does that help us? Upon thawing, the enemy suffers from bleeding - does that me enemies get additional damage ? b. Killer Instinct Mutation - says "Melee kills reduce skill cooldowns by .51 secs. Does that mean if out secondary weapon, say traps takes 10 seconds to recharge, now only takes 9.5 seconds? ... Also, does consecutive melee kills compound the x .51 secs? c. Tranquility - +26 damage if there are no enemies near you. Does this mean any ranged attack , where your enemy is further than say a melee weapon/attach distance, or does the amount of distance need to be greater than that??? Also, does the +26 damage apply to any type of other ranged weapon/non purple weapon? d. counterattack - the attack following a successful parry inflicits +850 damage. Will that apply to any other colored weapon included ranged weapons or 2ndary weapons? What happens if using a weapon and we miss on the first shot or strike?...will we get the +850 extra damage on the 2nd shot/but first connected shot or swing??? e. what does a "red skull x2" mean for a weapon? What does +100% damage taken...mean? f. stunned target - what constitues a stunned target? what would/weapons cause an enemy to be stunned? g. Dodging plants a bomb - would jumping constitute a dodge? or only a slide/roll?? h. if your character has a : red skull x2 above their head...what does that mean? i. Cannot be interruted by an enemys attack - please clarify and give examples to better understand j. Heavy Crossbow - please explain this weapon. It seems that we get the bow and reloader together. But, even without hitting the reload button.......it seems that the bow, every other shot seems to do larger damange (say a critical hit)?....is that correct? If we don't need to reload, but lets say we have a moment so we hit the reload button anyways...will the next shot automatically give us larger damage because we just hit the reload button? k. buring oil vs. cover the ground with inflammable oil? - please explain the difference. does one do damnage and the other is a potential set-up to do damage? L. Seems that the mutations selected - line up visually in each of the script options " brutality, tactics, survival"... but is it fair to say that the mutations will help any of the 3 colors...so a red melee weapon could actually benefit for a purple tactics upgrade/script ??? M. what does a white " 1skull " mean above our character ?
I think you underestimated the Serenade a bit. The fact that it attacks flying enemies and enemies behind walls, covering weak spots for you is incredible. Sometimes when you're cursed and don't want to risk getting hit, serenade might be your best friend. I don't know how much damage it does in 5BC, but in 2 and 3 BC it definitely packs a punch if you keep alternating between stances. It basically becomes your primary weapon. I pick it (almost) every time I see it (I gotta hold myself not to keep doing the same thing over and over again :v )
Mushroom Boi is probably my favorite skill in the game and one of the few that I will happily keep at rank I if I can't find any upgrades. Even if his damage isn't that good he can and will constantly knock people off of cliffs and YOLO damage has value no matter what rank the skill is. xD Plus I mean...just look at him! He's the bestest of bois!
I haven't used it for this because I've just come back to the game after a lengthy hiatus (bought all the DLC on mobile!), but regarding the Tonic: it looks like its current description could make it useful for challenge rifts, to soak up some of your mistakes. Especially if you went in with low health.
I dont remember if baseball bat came out about the time of this video, but stun grenade + baseball bat + throwing knife is a BROKEN combo (Baseball bat crit for stun + extra hit speed from stun)
A couple of random thoughts I think you misspoke about the Leg Hugger's effects, You said it causes bleeding by licking and turning into a ball let's it crit against bleeding enemies. Not really relevant but the sprite for the Scavenged Bombard has always looked so out of place. It looks like it's from a completely different game. Some of the weaker/defensive skills like Corrosive Cloud always come with a damage reduction bonus. I feel that should be worth mentioning. Doesn't emergency door also stun if broken near an enemy or block a single projectile? I'm not saying that makes it any better but it also has the damage reduction too
What about the Diverse Deck? The Foresight card is an always-on 5 second (3 on a legendary) auto-refreshing free parry. If you can't avoid getting hit once every three seconds you shouldn't be playing this game...This makes you functionally invincible. Also, the catalyst card is a auto-poison that melts bosses if you have a fast weapon.
Agreed I I beat 3 BC earlier with the poison, especially if you have a modifier to do poison per strike, I almost felt bad for 'the hand of the king",......almost, lol all the way to 4BC!!
Im a beginner (no boss cells unlocked yet) but i just had a run where i would have two shot the hand of the king if i didnt get hit. Pollo Power is so insanely broken imo its crazy. Two shotting the final boss with an item you get from mthe fractured shrines is just insane
WOW I never realized how good CP was, I really need to try it mixed with a tonic survival build Edit: in the matter of the giants fist (I main survival so I find myself using it a lot) it’s description doesn’t lie, it genuinely goes for what the game sees as the most dangerous enemy on screen. This CAN mean bigger enemies such as oven knights yes, but it can also mean projectile enemies that shoot through walls, or chase you/teleport to you naturally (without 5BC). Good thing to note however. It prioritizes elite enemies over ANYTHING else
So while I was getting better at the game, going up through the cells, I was practicing Derelict Distillery with like one hit left on me. There was a section with explosive barrels falling from the ceiling that you had to jump through. I jumped it, grabbed a scroll that was sitting on the other side when mushroom boi jumps head first into a barrel and kills me
Kinda sleeping on the synergies with Infantry Bow here - both Grappling Hook and Phaser are amazing with it. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I personally think the Stun Grenade has pretty great synergy with the Nutcracker. It serves the dual purpose of setting up one or more enemies for a crit and also protecting you from other nearby enemies during the slow-ish wind up. It's similar to the Root Grenade, but has the advantage of a shorter cooldown.
I feel like you quite undersell the power of the CC grenades (mainly stun and root) with heart of ice, as it can give you a much higher uptime on your secondary skill, which is the one you'll then use for damage.
Hey Pseychie, I have questions regarding a tactics build. Am I supposed to have a shield? Or what do I take in it's stead? I watched your deck of cards showcase (I think it's your only tactics showcase?) And I just didn't understand what to take as my second slot weapon. I always have a shield, but don't even use it in a tactics build. Currently got to 4BsC, so I don't have thunder shield yet
I like to use fire grenade when I have an oiled sword ONLY when I have an oiled sword (or when my trap can spill oil when placed) Edit: when it comes to mushroom boi, it is my favorite pet. Not only does it look cute, but it can also push enemies like Slicer, Captain, or Cannibal away from me, and push them away with fall damage. I take it most often especially when I have a survival scroll
I know this is completely your opinion, but to be sure about stun grenade, it’s really useful with slow weapons. Yes, it isn’t the best, but still isn’t so bad
i beat 2BC with stun grenade and baseball bat and the crudge. i love the crit numbers of the base ball bat. and since i cant stun HOTK i used wolftraps or root grenade. i highly recomment you guys try it
Great work! I've noticed you tend to not use shields. I pretty much always use shields (at like 550 hours in 3 years) unless it's like alchemic carbine for tactics. Can't imagine not playing without one to be honest, or one in the BP with armadillopack. Any tips on playing without a shield, as in what 2 melee or 2 ranged weapons could work together? Or 1 melee/1 ranged?
pseychie usually does play with a shield. in general, taking a second weapon and ditching a shield is something you only do when you have so much damage that you'd rather just kill things EVEN FASTER because dead enemies can't attack you, making a shield useless.
I think that vampirism is only good with bone bc its freaking fast(but idk if this spin counts as many attacks or only one bc i didnt use vampirism with it)
God I didn't even think about the vengeance mut with face flask! Duh! I feel fucking stupid for not realizing that would be a great way to top your damage up. Gonna try a brut build with ff today

Tonic is actually good if you pair it with the giant killer in boss fight because if you choose some right mutation it will always recover your health

I was trying to get it, but died in the cavern due to a curse and a collapse of my nerves coming so far
mushroom boy has gotten me some crucial interrupts against bosses, but he does drive me crazy knocking enemies out of melee range quite often

I always find it in shops and its extremely annoying, sometimes 2 tonics appear but one time it was 3 tonics.

Every time I use phaser/grappling hook to do a lot of damage with assassin's dagger, I eventually regret it. Not that those aren't good interactions, but I feel like you this type of build ends up quite vulnerable to even like, having one rat in front of your desired target
actually you could have added the baseball bat to the synergies of phaser too because after phasing for a short time enemies get rooted so it hits like a truck and destreys bosses

Thanks for the great vdo's. One thing that would be most helpful for those of us on 1BC would be to understand the terminology of the mutations and weapons, so we can better select the proper mutuation with the proper weapon...I'll provide areas were our group of friends don't quite understand:
a. Ice Grenade says 6 sec...does that mean the bomb is active for a full 6 seconds?.
It states " -6% damage received " - does that mean while the bomb is active, if we were to receive damage, we would get a decrease in damage by 6%?
Biters crawl from the dead - what does this mean? and how does that help us?
Upon thawing, the enemy suffers from bleeding - does that me enemies get additional damage ?
b. Killer Instinct Mutation - says "Melee kills reduce skill cooldowns by .51 secs.
Does that mean if out secondary weapon, say traps takes 10 seconds to recharge, now only takes 9.5 seconds? ... Also, does consecutive melee kills compound the x .51 secs?
c. Tranquility - +26 damage if there are no enemies near you.
Does this mean any ranged attack , where your enemy is further than say a melee weapon/attach distance, or does the amount of distance need to be greater than that???
Also, does the +26 damage apply to any type of other ranged weapon/non purple weapon?
d. counterattack - the attack following a successful parry inflicits +850 damage.
Will that apply to any other colored weapon included ranged weapons or 2ndary weapons?
What happens if using a weapon and we miss on the first shot or strike?...will we get the +850 extra damage on the 2nd shot/but first connected shot or swing???
e. what does a "red skull x2" mean for a weapon?
What does +100% damage taken...mean?
f. stunned target - what constitues a stunned target? what would/weapons cause an enemy to be stunned?
g. Dodging plants a bomb - would jumping constitute a dodge? or only a slide/roll??
h. if your character has a : red skull x2 above their head...what does that mean?
i. Cannot be interruted by an enemys attack - please clarify and give examples to better understand
j. Heavy Crossbow - please explain this weapon. It seems that we get the bow and reloader together. But, even without hitting the reload button.......it seems that the bow, every other shot seems to do larger damange (say a critical hit)?....is that correct?
If we don't need to reload, but lets say we have a moment so we hit the reload button anyways...will the next shot automatically give us larger damage because we just hit the reload button?
k. buring oil vs. cover the ground with inflammable oil? - please explain the difference. does one do damnage and the other is a potential set-up to do damage?
L. Seems that the mutations selected - line up visually in each of the script options " brutality, tactics, survival"... but is it fair to say that the mutations will help any of the 3 colors...so a red melee weapon could actually benefit for a purple tactics upgrade/script ???
M. what does a white " 1skull " mean above our character ?

I think you underestimated the Serenade a bit. The fact that it attacks flying enemies and enemies behind walls, covering weak spots for you is incredible.
Sometimes when you're cursed and don't want to risk getting hit, serenade might be your best friend.
I don't know how much damage it does in 5BC, but in 2 and 3 BC it definitely packs a punch if you keep alternating between stances. It basically becomes your primary weapon. I pick it (almost) every time I see it (I gotta hold myself not to keep doing the same thing over and over again :v )
I've found it to be quite impressive in 5BC if you use it attentively. If you just leave it in the flying mode it isn't worth much though.

@@sr.lontra yeah I found in lower BC it tends to be able to deal with ad enemies quite well (anything up to Buzzcutters). Later on it feels less good.
Mushroom Boi is probably my favorite skill in the game and one of the few that I will happily keep at rank I if I can't find any upgrades. Even if his damage isn't that good he can and will constantly knock people off of cliffs and YOLO damage has value no matter what rank the skill is. xD

I haven't used it for this because I've just come back to the game after a lengthy hiatus (bought all the DLC on mobile!), but regarding the Tonic: it looks like its current description could make it useful for challenge rifts, to soak up some of your mistakes. Especially if you went in with low health.
I dont remember if baseball bat came out about the time of this video, but stun grenade + baseball bat + throwing knife is a BROKEN combo

A couple of random thoughts
I think you misspoke about the Leg Hugger's effects, You said it causes bleeding by licking and turning into a ball let's it crit against bleeding enemies.
Not really relevant but the sprite for the Scavenged Bombard has always looked so out of place. It looks like it's from a completely different game.
Some of the weaker/defensive skills like Corrosive Cloud always come with a damage reduction bonus. I feel that should be worth mentioning.
Doesn't emergency door also stun if broken near an enemy or block a single projectile? I'm not saying that makes it any better but it also has the damage reduction too
there's been cases where the boi actually took put an enemy that was sneaking up.

What about the Diverse Deck? The Foresight card is an always-on 5 second (3 on a legendary) auto-refreshing free parry. If you can't avoid getting hit once every three seconds you shouldn't be playing this game...This makes you functionally invincible. Also, the catalyst card is a auto-poison that melts bosses if you have a fast weapon.
Agreed I I beat 3 BC earlier with the poison, especially if you have a modifier to do poison per strike, I almost felt bad for 'the hand of the king",......almost, lol all the way to 4BC!!

Im a beginner (no boss cells unlocked yet) but i just had a run where i would have two shot the hand of the king if i didnt get hit. Pollo Power is so insanely broken imo its crazy. Two shotting the final boss with an item you get from mthe fractured shrines is just insane

Edit: in the matter of the giants fist (I main survival so I find myself using it a lot) it’s description doesn’t lie, it genuinely goes for what the game sees as the most dangerous enemy on screen. This CAN mean bigger enemies such as oven knights yes, but it can also mean projectile enemies that shoot through walls, or chase you/teleport to you naturally (without 5BC). Good thing to note however. It prioritizes elite enemies over ANYTHING else

What’s the music at 15:50? It sounds sooo familiar and I can’t put my finger on it.
So while I was getting better at the game, going up through the cells, I was practicing Derelict Distillery with like one hit left on me. There was a section with explosive barrels falling from the ceiling that you had to jump through. I jumped it, grabbed a scroll that was sitting on the other side when mushroom boi jumps head first into a barrel and kills me
Distillery is hell, the barrels do insane damage.

Kinda sleeping on the synergies with Infantry Bow here - both Grappling Hook and Phaser are amazing with it.
Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I personally think the Stun Grenade has pretty great synergy with the Nutcracker. It serves the dual purpose of setting up one or more enemies for a crit and also protecting you from other nearby enemies during the slow-ish wind up. It's similar to the Root Grenade, but has the advantage of a shorter cooldown.

I feel like you quite undersell the power of the CC grenades (mainly stun and root) with heart of ice, as it can give you a much higher uptime on your secondary skill, which is the one you'll then use for damage.
I did the baseball bat + stun grenade with heart of ice mutation and i easily flawless the time keeper

I always have a shield, but don't even use it in a tactics build.
Currently got to 4BsC, so I don't have thunder shield yet

I like to use fire grenade when I have an oiled sword ONLY when I have an oiled sword (or when my trap can spill oil when placed)
Edit: when it comes to mushroom boi, it is my favorite pet. Not only does it look cute, but it can also push enemies like Slicer, Captain, or Cannibal away from me, and push them away with fall damage. I take it most often especially when I have a survival scroll

I know this is completely your opinion, but to be sure about stun grenade, it’s really useful with slow weapons. Yes, it isn’t the best, but still isn’t so bad
i beat 2BC with stun grenade and baseball bat and the crudge. i love the crit numbers of the base ball bat. and since i cant stun HOTK i used wolftraps or root grenade. i highly recomment you guys try it

Great work! I've noticed you tend to not use shields. I pretty much always use shields (at like 550 hours in 3 years) unless it's like alchemic carbine for tactics. Can't imagine not playing without one to be honest, or one in the BP with armadillopack. Any tips on playing without a shield, as in what 2 melee or 2 ranged weapons could work together? Or 1 melee/1 ranged?
pseychie usually does play with a shield. in general, taking a second weapon and ditching a shield is something you only do when you have so much damage that you'd rather just kill things EVEN FASTER because dead enemies can't attack you, making a shield useless.
