      Who has less than 10K by the time they get to the first boss? Seriously, who?
      Unless I get kicked to the start because I died, I never drop below 10K Gold after the first boss I fight. Of course, in a deathless run, it might be an issue, but why would you turn your hair gray doing that?

      @@Ohimeshinso Sometimes it's nice to reroll modifiers a couple extra times if you find a weapon you think can carry you pretty far, or want a very specific modifier to synergize with another item you have. Though, I tend to save that for later in the run, I will sometimes reroll a few times on some weapons or skills early on. But I do that with the intent my current setup will carry me nearly to the end until I find a really sick high level weapon or skill I like a lot.

    I never took Emergency Triage until I was really struggling on 4BC HotK and researched it properly. I always thought the 45% healing meant 45% of the usual healing, as in 27% of max health. In reality of course, it heals 45% of max, which is 75% of normal healing. Also, great video mate.

    • @Scroolewse
      @Scroolewse ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Now it's only a little over half of normal healing which is unfortunate, but on late game bosses it can always be paired with Extended Healing to buff it up to 85% of total health regardless of what color you use.

    YOLO is good when you're learning and haven't unlocked a lot of mutations, and disengagement is one that isn't available right away. I took YOLO my first handful of runs when I wouldn't even be getting to Hand of the King. After I stopped dying so much and started unlocking more options, I stopped using it

    As someone with a fair amount of experience in dead cells (around 400 hours total and many 5bc wins), I think that both velocity and recovery are a little underrated. One of the things ive been thinking about recently is what I like to call "roll conservation", and its essentially a way of playing that says: "if there is any possible way to avoid an attack without using a roll, don't use a roll". The effect of this in-game is to minimise the amount of times you are ever caught in a situation where you just have to take a hit, and following this rule is the main reason I don't take shields any more, because I only need to parry enemies roughly once or twice a run. This is why I would say velocity deserves at least a "situational" tier, because when you know how to use it right it can be an extremely powerful tool for escaping combat without wasting roll invincibility. Admittedly if you kill enough enemies fast enough velocity may become obsolete but i just find its nice to have as a backup, especially since, with a speed boost, you can just run right past most enemies and they cant hit you (I've done this with knife dancers before, just run right at them and by the time they start shooting your out the other side). More useful in melee builds but it still has its uses, especially with swift sword.
    As for recovery, I think this is at least deserving of situational, and personally I would put it as very viable if gastronomy wasn't so damn good. Compare the footage at 20:49 to the footage at 22:18. In the first clip, hand of the king hits for roughly 40% of your health but you rally about 30% of that back. That's a 75% damage reduction alone, with unmodified rally. In the second clip, hand of the king hits for around 70% of your health, and your forced to use a health flask to heal back 60% of that, but even if you were able to heal back just 30% of your health, like in the first clip, you would have been sitting at around 50% health instead of 20%, without needing to use any health flasks. You can still be whittled down slowly by attacks if your not careful but the rally mechanic can turn game-changing hits into just minor blemishes, and recovery is the perfect mutation to capitalise on that.
    I will admit its difficult to build around recovery, because its not a mutation you can force. With many builds, trying to go for a really aggressive playstyle when your already at low health will just get you killed instantly; but if your in a run and you notice that your already reclaiming huge reservoirs of health back from rally then recovery might be worth considering, especially in boss fights where you need healing without immobilisation. One of my old favourite builds that carried me all the way through to 4bc was the quick bow paired with recovery, because the high and stable DPS of the quick bow turns a flimsy tactics build into something as tanky as survival; but I think that recovery can work really well with all colours. For tactics you want stable, preferably ranged, DPS. For brutality, it works best on what I like to call Hyper Aggressive Melee (lit. going HAM) where no matter what the encounter you just go balls out into it and hope for the best (and its a ton of fun if you can do it). And for survival its probably best for "counter" builds where you can afford to take a hit because you know your going to rally it right back up. Its a mutation that needs to be treated with care, but is probably the best damage reduction option in the game if you have nothing better to take.

    • @Pseychie_DC
      @Pseychie_DC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I guess I need to experiment a bit more. I find trying to get rally back in bosses to be risky since they can still hit you back, I usually just find the first safe instance to heal up. Gotta admit recovery can be useful in fast builds tho

      And now, Porcupack is desirable sometimes as well. Usually if i find Queens Rapier I'll put it in my backpack, now though i've found that starfury can be legitimately *really* good, especially with the "Releases Toxic Cloud on hit". Legitimately amazing with Porcupack especially if you are running something like Snake Fangs, and even if not, especially if it is legendary.
      This is because you'll hit the enemy with a roll, and the stars will rain down like a bombing run with a bunch of toxic clouds appearing and adding a bunch of poison stacks. Which is great for biome clearing and passive damage when dodging about in a boss fight, (the lighthouse, as an example)

    Since it got buffed since this video, Recovery actually synergizes really well with affixes that increase damage dealt and taken. I had a run recently that went to HOTK that had recovery and a 4x damage increase weapon. Even though I'd lose a ton of health in one hit, I'd make almost all of it back just as fast.

    I wouldn’t really pick open wounds if I don’t have bleed synergy. The damage boost it actually provides is basically worthless compared to Brutality's other damage boosting mutations, so I see zero reason to take it in such a scenario, so I think it would make more sense to call it situational.

    Hey dude, great video. In my opinion as a survival 5bc main, What Doesn't Kill You (heal on parry) is really overpowered right now, definitely a must pick if you're running shields.
    At max scaling it's 6% of your health per parry, on no cooldown or limit per enemy. In the mid to late game, you can literally full-heal for free in a matter of seconds on some easy parry enemies. Even in early biomes, enemies like rampagers and the red flyers are just free sustain, and in bosses like hotk or time keeper, you can literally just face-tank since you heal so much. In terms of the 5bc endgame boss though, I don't think it's great since they use mostly ranged attacks. Otherwise, I find it much more broken than gastronomy, since it's essentially on-demand healing.
    A very interesting build I've found is to keep hunter's grenade the entire game (3 multi scrolls gives you crazy max hp for most of the game), take no mercy first for early damage, then take What Doesn't Kill You for the infinite sustain, and then finish with Soldier's Resistance (now that its 40% max hp), and laugh as you can now never die. I misplayed pretty hard in the final biome, going down to around 20% hp, but easily just found 2 bombers and a failed experiment and freely healed to 80% or so, then topped up before leaving. I haven't had to use my flask a single time until the last boss or I misplay hard in the 2nd biome. Even if you play slowly to farm parries instead of just killing the enemies instantly, it's extremely fast to heal up, and you don't even rack up malaise that fast. I've done this build like 5 games in a row and never gone past 5 malaise bars! It honestly lets you play even faster arguably as survival since you can facetank enemies essentially. You should definitely try it!

    • @Scroolewse
      @Scroolewse ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Here's a little synergy you might not be aware of: when you get to the 5BC boss or the Queen, switch your mutations to include Emergency Triage and Extended Healing. Then because you've still got 5 flasks (because of What Doesn't Kill You) you can keep your Extended Healing buff going for 50(!) seconds, that's ~60% more damage and a constant heal going for nearly the entire fight.

    Tainted Flask is actually a great thing to throw on your final boss mutation lineup if you're also running Emergency Triage. If you're going into the 5BC boss with like 4 flasks you will have, in total, 48 seconds of over double damage, that is more damage than any other mutation will give you and there's nothing special you need to do to activate it besides holding a button for a split second.
    I believe this should also work with Extended Healing but I've never tried that. According to the wiki using both mutations should give you the speed and shield of Emergency Triage but you still get the full 85% healing from Extended Healing over the course of 10 seconds. This might not be that great because of how slow the healing is but you only need the first 3 or 4 seconds to get to the point where Emergency Triage would have gotten you without Extended (you can also pop a flask _before_ you get too low and then you'll have the healing going if you get hit during those 10 seconds). This is also giving you around 50-60% bonus damage during that duration as well, which is still quite helpful.

    great video, but here's some notes I'd like to make:
    recovery is situational, it's an absolute beast when doing spite sword runs, and can help a lot in heavy builds.
    allegation and acceptance: people used to take it because malaise worked differently, and those two together were incredible together for clearing it.
    masochist: forgot to mention it gives you a speed boost.
    no mercy: I would say it's very viable, it's useful with every build type, but gets more milage with heavy builds in case you done one shot.
    melee: very viable should have been it's placement. affix damage is insanely useful, free damage.
    tactical retreat: hard disagree. it slows EVERY enemy on screen, and is insanely easy to proc. one of the best mutations against 5bc boss.
    parting gift: hard disagree. I don't really know where you're coming from here, lots of enemies aren't grouped together.
    soldiers resistance (typo)
    blind faith: large CD removal, but not the greatest, would say its situational
    necromancy: 50% is quite a lot, I don't think it needs the buff, would say it's situational
    gastronomy: forgot to mention recycling food gives you a damage boost
    frostbite: extremely hard disagree. frostbite actively works against itself (it breaks freezing!!!!!), and doesn't even fit survivals niche of heavy weapons. hell, the damage isn't even that good.
    heart of ice: forgot to mention that slowing procs it.

    One of the most whacky and fun builds I do is going caltrops, tactical retreat and frostbite, and then just relying on my roll for slow dot, its not very powerful, but the fact that it's even possible is a testament to how creative one can be.

    Grappling hook and point blank+scheme make a good brutality infantry bow build. Using grappling hook often gives a pretty high bonus to your damage +496% then you have the +40% from point blank + the high bonus from scheme. There might be better synergy but as far as I know the damage bonus from grappling hook stacks with brutality levels. If it doesn't then I would make it a tactics build instead for more bonus on point blank. And swap out scheme.

    How to use extended healing:
    1.Pick it up
    2.Use flask
    3.Wait 15 seconds for the healing to finish
    4.Reset mutations and pick something better
    Boom , you healed 25% more for 1000 or 2000 gold

    24:39 “Extended healing” is actually good, the only time i take it is after finishing a biome or boss. I reset my mutations on the safe area before level transitions. Drink a potion and heal back my health, and after that i reset my mutations again and choose my desired mutations
    It costs you 3k for reseting twice but to me its still worth it, so id say its situational, i never used extended healing while in biome or fighting bosses.

    16:13 I really like predator mutation, the thing with it's invisibility is that it not only stops monsters from seeing you but also resets agro on mobs that already saw you, that's why I would often pick it on bioms. If you kill just one mob with it, almost all other mobs would cease their attacks allowing you to pick next mob you can quickly kill and repeat.

    armadillo pack's main draw (at least for me) is that it is a mobile parry that comes out when you would have needed one anyways. Dodging through a projectile? Free damage. Panic roll near a bomb spamming enemy? Free damage to everyone. As an added plus, you get a whole extra hand while keeping all of your shield's on parry effects.

    So for the recovery, they can combo with vampirism which will turn all your green bar and some lost health (blank bar) to the orange bar at late-game for brutal and survival play style when you use this you could recover from like 1 health to 80-90% of your health and took like 2 second or so if there is a a lot of enemy or tanky one to deal damage with. Very very situational one but very good for hit trader or one who try to reserve flask for big fight

  • @lydiasteinebendiksen4269

    I have some interesting takea on certain mutations that thia video didn't cover for aome reason:
    No mercy procs on dot ticks, meaning it effectively reduces enemy hp by 15% instead if you rely on dot, so for any build which does it's immensely useful. It usefullness only becomes more apperent when you realize mixing with frostbite, barbed tips, or anything else with no mercy makea it viable, so if you use arrows or have the slow on kill affix and don't know what to do for mutations, these aynergies will both effectively reduce all enemy max health and now you have some extra damage.
    Vengence is mostly kind of bad, but instantly becomes a no-brainer if you use face flask. Only really viable if you have the apite sword too, but having the spite sword, the face flask, and the vengence mutation is makes for very high damage, and if you mix with corrupted power and scheme it a winning build, with room for a shield or a ranged option as well as a mutation of your choice. If you wanna be a dufus and play for the theme instead you can go masochist and frenzy to make a build that just loves pain.
    Crows feet may seem like a bad pick, and most of the time it is, but if you alreaddy have frostbite, then it goes from being bad to being delightful. Covering anywhere you roll with both imideate damage and dot while not even having to hit the attack button means you winn just by surviving long enough, but obviously the best is to use this supplementary.
    And finally, I want to just highlight frostbite, even though I alreaddy mentioned it. Slow is arguably the easiest status effect to apply, which is why its damage bonus affix only gives a 30% bonus, but with frostbite all that changes, and it becomes both dot AND a debuff, making the easiest status to inflict also the best, save for the stacking bursts. Sadly it takes a survival build to truly benefit, but if you are going survival, look for the slows nearby enemies on kill affix and pick up frostbite, it's wonderful.

    I've had good runs using porcupack on bosses using brutality build, bleed synergy, and sadist stilletto in the pack. Just added another layer of damage while I was ducking and weaving. And with enough points in brutality you can get porcupack doing over 70% of base damage, which is pretty neat when you've got guaranteed criticals from it.

    I usually use a shield to go with a ranged weapons to be safer when going to bosses. So it's usually tactics -> survival scroll points for me. I often chose the blind faith because if you have trained for the boss before, then this would greatly help you redeploy your turrets if they got destroyed by the boss or makes some low CD skills like Wave of Denial available instantly after use. It's really great if you focus on a defensive and ranged gameplay

    One thing that's always been bugging me, was the limit of mutations per run! I feel, that having only three to choose is too low of a number, and makes deciding, on what mutations to take extremely difficult! Rather than having three, and able to reselect them, it should be limitless, without rerolling! I believe that would encourage more experimentation, and justify the lower tier mutations more!

    • @SuperZeap
      @SuperZeap 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe not making them unlimited but raising it by one or two would make a huge difference

    • @karlhnedkovsky5214
      @karlhnedkovsky5214 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuperZeap I don't know, your loadout may change several times through a run, thus needing to switch up your mutations! I feel at this point, the mutations are heavily imbalanced! There are a few, that are so good, you'd want to always take them, like Armadillopack for example! The benefit of having a shield in your backpack at all times, and being able to parry, when you dodge(good on them for putting a small cooldown on the parry, as parrying with every dodge was busted) makes it a no-brainer.
      I feel they should either remove the limit and rerolls, or rework a lot of the mutations to make them more worth the low ammount!

    There is a hidden (?) tactic regarding armadillopack. I discovered it with 4BC HoTK. I had a parry shield in my backpack with the +300% dmg after a parry affix. After parrying the Hand's 3 hit combo, he threw grenades at me which I rolled through which threw the grenades back at him. Took off something like 60% of his health in total. It may have been affected by stats... I'm not sure? Reflected projectiles do added damage with the parry shield after all. Anyway, it was a surprisingly quick kill.

    I'd rather extended healing be more of a biome healing perk. We already have emergency triage for bosses. Have the mutation re-extend the heal every time you kill an enemy. So pop Extended healing and be aggressive in biomes - you'll be at full health by the end if you kill everything for just 1 flask.
    That also seems to be what Tainted Flask is supposed to be. Extended Healing and Tainted Flask need to be looked at to make them both strong yet distinct from eachother.

      I second what the dude above me just said. Build is everything man. If you don't have something set up by Concierge, Conjunctivitis, or Spider Ho, (Mama Tick) then you're not set up well. The biggest tip though that I can give you is that for each boss, you should have a certain weapon type. For example, if you're going to fight conjunctivitis, you either have to have a build that makes you sticky as fuck, aka, you can pin up against it to melee, OR you need a ranged build. If you don't have those, then don't fight Conjunctivitis. For Concierge the Spider Ho, you can get away with pretty much anything, but any weapon that crits in water will destroy MaMa Tick. Concierge is a fucking joke so you can use anything. I hope this helps you out a little bit Danny. Those are the things that REALLY helped me get past bosses when I first started 2BC and 5BC.
