I think that making the Steam Deck cheaper altogether would a very smart chess move for Steam. Just yesterday, I was trying to decide if I was going to buy a Switch Oled or Steam Deck But if Steam makes the Steam Deck cheaper; with all of the capabilities, games and possibilities with the Steam Deck, my decision would become a no-brainer. Then, it would be a matter of finding one.
I agree! The Switch is great if you want the first-party Nintendo titles, but you can play SO many game so on the Deck - and then play those games on your PC. I still think the Steam Deck is a great option for Apple or MacBook users.
If I had the money this would almost make it tempting to get a second deck to use undocked. ATM I use my deck as my main computer docked, and have to undock it when I want it in handheld mode. From a purely lazy perspective, a second deck would be amazing xD.
I had the same thought actually. I've been curious about running Windows on a Steam Deck, but I don't want to do anything to the one that I use... could be a business expense for me? haha
Heyyyy, I just bought one. I went and got the 256 gig storage since that one was made cheaper too. This is something else for people to think about. 64gb user here. I had flawless results with a micro sd card. Don’t let the storage deter you from getting a deal
Can attest to this. I have the 64gb but upgraded it to 1tb SSD which was super easy surprisingly. But I also have a 256GB SD card which I use for my two biggest games and they work flawlessly.
But do you still get the extra acessories like the carrying case?

This came out the day after I placed an order for a 64gb model, and now its out of stock, RIP. Im just coping by telling myself mine will be all shiny and brand new haha, I am upgrading the SSD anyway

Yeah, don't trust GameStop. You would hope they are just getting them from Valve, but I wouldn't trust them. If it's refurbished by GameStop, then go with Valve, because their refurbished products are trash.
I've heard bad things about GameStop refurbished stuff. I personally wouldn't buy from them, but I know some people still like going into a physical store.

It would be really cool if they would partner with Best Buy or some other entity that doesn't shove 'Pro Memberships' down your throat.

But Best Buy has already tried to capitalize on this when the Series X/S and PS5 were low stock and they required a Total Tech sub (now My Best Buy) to gain access to the low stock of consoles. I believe they dropped it after the backlash but Valve would have to set some rules so companies like GameStop and Best Buy don't gatekeep consoles with membership subs.
What if I actually want less storage?
Just buy the 64GB model and remove the SSD. Easy.
