Big Tancook Island by Drone

- In today's video we are exploring my parents home of Big Tancook Island, in Nova Scotia, Canada. Big Tancook as it's known, is an island off mainland Nova Scotia. To get to the island, you must take a 1 hour ferry ride from the town of Chester to the island. Often, you will stop at Little Tancook Island to pick up and drop off residents of this even smaller community.
The island doesn't offer much as far as amenities, as there are no banks, grocery stores or police departments, but it does make up for that in beauty.
We get an areal perspective in this video as I fly my DJI Mavic Air around the island of Big Tancook. Tancook island is close to the famous Oak Island where buried treasure is being found daily.

Yes, the roads are the biggest downfall to the island as they are not very well maintained. Things are amplified though in those old cars without any shocks, lol

Yes, this lifestyle wouldn't be for everyone. Luckily my parents are retired, and have the time to take the hour ferry once a week to go out and get food for the week!

Thanks! This was my first "real" flight with the drone. I had only practiced a couple times in a field before this, so I think things turned out quite good considering.

I am glad you like the drone footage! I think it really adds something to the videos. And it will only get better and better the more I use it. So I am excited for that! The narration is fun actually. I think I am going to enjoy doing that more as well!

Thanks Shane! I think it turned out fairly good for my first drone video. It's a learning curve, but I really love the images I am capturing. You'll be seeing more and more of these kind of videos as the channel progresses. I think you would love getting one too.
Good to see you out again and man, that must have been a long festival you were at, must have been months lol! That looks a real quiet place but real nice, especially with the coastline and woods so close but an hour long ferry is a bit of a bind to get essentials from the mainland. Nice drone footage, which shows you how isolated it is there, cheers Alan
I haven't stopped going out, but the festival lasted 3 days, so I have a ton of videos. That being said, I am trying to put them out a rapid pace to get back to the travel stuff! Yes, it is a beautiful island. My parents have a great spot off the water, but you can still see the ocean from the living room! Yes, they go once a week to get groceries and the things they need. It's not too bad, but it would be a pain if you had to take the ferry every day like the students.

When you have a place this small, it only makes things better when you can rely on others! Most of them all go over at the same time each week to get groceries too!

Yes sir! I have been practicing a lot lately, and many of the videos I am filming now will have some drone footage. This was the first video I made with it. I love it. It's a little nerve racking at first, but I am thinking I am getting better now and more comfortable with it. So hopefully that will come through in the videos down the road.

Thanks! This was the first true flight it took (well a series of flights). Before that I only flew it in a parking lot, lol. The island does indeed have some very beautiful scenery. I want to try and play with the drone more. I was in the car controlling it while my dad drove, or I was outside the car controlling it. Mine does have an active track feature that I want to play with. I have only used it once during hiking so far.
