      @@thatwolfensteinguy8954 Salaam Guys!
I personally find it helpful to use a gnostic and neo-platonic lense to try grasp hindu theology.
Don't think of all of their "gods" as in our conventional sense, think of them like archons.
basically crated middle men or entities granted roles and put in charge of various functionings of the universe, similar to the chinese concepts of the government of heaven of sorts.
I don't personally know if the Hindus have ( I haven't been able to identify ) anything equivalent to the concept of Allah (the true source or necessary being that all contingent reality rests upon)
Krishna (if you are of his sect ) or Shiva ( if you follow his sect ) is like the head honcho, with the other beings existing underneath them.
each universe has its own demirurge(Brahma) who runs his own little bubble universe and though many if not MOST hidu may actually have a confused theology wherein they actually think these creatures have humanoid form, most if not all their parables and myths are meant to be allegorical explanation of concepts regarding the functioning of humanity (anthropomorphized) or simple moral stories meant to inculcate select values that were helpful for monarchs or the ruling class to create a functioning society, with things like Dharma ( taking pride in doing the role an lot in life you are given )
archons and the demiurge are NOT angels, but instead are like sum admins if GOD is the true Admin in computer speech.
I'd really suggest looking up gnosticism and Neoplatonism, it is very pervasive in culture surprisingly and a good way to understand most of these concepts.

Vishnu “slept” doesn’t mean that he’s sleeping like humans. Vishnu is being in a state of yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is deep state of conscious awareness. You need to understand the alphabets of a language to understand the words. Defining earth as an oblate spheroid and that there are millions of universes which continue to be created and destroyed, almost 10000 years back itself is something phenomenal. Modern science endorses these two concepts now.

Im really tiered of seeing this argument so let me refute it:
We say tht the sun is rising, scientifically thats wrong, the sun does not 'rise' it rotates arond the earth. That does not, however, make the original statement wrong.
Hence, in the same way, when the Quran says that the earth is streched out and is flat like a carpet, it does not mean that the earth's shape is flat. Rather it says that the earths *surface* is flat (highest point to lowest point of the earth is less than 13miles). Infact, when talking about the shape of the Earth, Allah discribes the Earth being the shape of an ostrige egg (those eggs r a bit flattened at the ends n buging in the middle). And this is how my Lord talks to both the educated and uneducated.

Hinduism doesn't rely on a linear thinking process, the timings, the idea of the multiverse, what God is, are very very different from the concepts of abrahamic religions.
Lots of things are symbolic and cannot be interpreted literally, it requires a lot of study, practices and guidance from learned master to even understand a little bit of it.
To understand these complex ideas of Hinduism, one needs to evolve in the way they think.
The topic you have picked is of 'Research Level'.
Also just to clarify 'Brahma' and ' Brahman' are two different concepts.
There are really no dates which can say that this is when Hinduism started, the written evidence starts from 4000 to 5000 yrs back, but in many texts, you can find the events going back to 10,000 yrs.

@@MuslimMindsUSyou are right at your way of thinking!! According to the Hindu theory of creation, time (Sanskrit 'kal') is a manifestation of God. Creation begins when God makes his energies active and ends when he withdraws all his energies into a state of inactivity. God is timeless, for time is relative and ceases to exist in the Absolute. Western minds have misinterpreted the meaning of Deva which is spiritually and physically higher beings , consciousness and energies , but they referred them as Gods . Time is described in cycles in Upanishads and puranas . Everything in the universe is the manifestation of parbrahm which is formless, genderless and eternal source of all creation and the creator . With his actions thousands of universes with their own phases of creation , destruction and preservation comes into existence . Time is cyclic of material or physical reality , it is just an illusion for spiritually enlightened beings and devas . That is why in Hinduism in the highest goal of life is moksha or Nirvana although heaven and hell exist but they are also temporary. I request you reacting to Swami swarwpriyananda on who am I ? Can you question this-
Rig Veda 10.95.15 Nay, do not die, Pururavas, nor vanish: let not the hideous wolves devour thee. Female friendships do not exist. With women there can be no lasting friendship: hearts of hyenas are the hearts of women.
Mahabharata 5.39 ”The fruits of the Vedas are ceremonies performed before the (homa) fire; the fruits of an acquaintance with the scriptures are goodness of disposition and conduct. The fruits of women are the pleasures of intercourse and offspring.”Mahabharata 13.20 “Ashtavakra said, ‘Women can never be their own mistresses. This is the opinion of the Creator himself, viz., that a woman never deserves to be independent”
Rig Veda 8.33.17 Indra himself hath said, The mind of woman brooks not discipline, Her intellect hath little weight.
Hindu text often compare woman in her menses to dogs and pigs, and such things are still in practice. A Hindu temple board decided that women should be allowed inside temple only after the machine detects that they are not in their menstrual periods,
      www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3332227/Hindu-temple-declares-allow-women-enter-scanning-machine-designed-check-going-menstruating.html
Another humiliating thing is that when a woman barged into a temple for worship, the idol and temple were purified by cow urine,
      www.indiatimes.com/news/india/women-barge-into-temple-that-prohibits-women-priests-purify-it-with-cow-urine-after-they-leave-248748.html
Hinduism even says that a woman in her menses touching a Dvija must be lashed with whip,
Vishnu Smriti 5.105 If a woman in her courses (touches a member of a twice-born person), she shall be lashed with a whip.
Brahma Purana 10.75 “Dying Immediately after the husband is the greatest duty of women. This is the path laid down in the Vedas. [77] The woman who follows her husband shall stay in heaven for as many years as there are hairs in a man’s body, viz. three and a half crores of years.”

Hindus say that unlike other religions (hinting at Islam and Christianity) you will not be punished or put into hell for rejecting the Hindu faith or blaspheming the religion. I was reading the book The Land of the Lingam by Arthur Miles, I read only the first few pages but I found one very interesting observation by Arthur Miles, he wrote,
“Ask any Hindu to explain his religion, and he will wander off into a labyrinth of words from which nothing will extricate him but the end of your endurance. If you comment on his belief, he will tell you that you do not understand. ‘You do not understand’ is always the last word of the Hindu.”

@@MuslimMindsUS It means that causes and effects do not have a direct 1-to-1 causal relationship. That "we" (as in people in general) perceive it as such is "maya" or illusion/false reality. An example, as I type this comment, numerous unknowable (potentially infinite) causes and effects are triggered and further contribute to a changed state of the Universe - regardless of how minute these effects may be. My keyboard wears a little bit, the computer processes the keystrokes, the energy is dissipated into heat, the message ends up on a Google server over a network and so on and on.
What does this have to do with linear time? We perceive time linearity because, we perceive limited cause-and-effect relationships. We only perceive time as moving forward in a particular direction - but only so because that serves our bias - "maya". In reality, multitude of events arise and collapse without being perceived.
That is to say, reality and causal nature of reality is distributed and entangled. This is the central principle of Sanatana Dharma - the idea that Creator and the Created is one and the same - there is no separation. Everything arises from the Creator and dissolves back into the Creator and its repeated infinitely and eternally. Cyclical.
      Hope this helps!
PS: Also don't look at Sanatana Dharma as something those people in India practice. There is so much more than what meets the unprepared mind. If you are a sincere seeker of knowledge - you will find the path.

Hi there! So to clarify things about the video and Hinduism (Santana Dharma). There is 1 God Brahman. Brahman is infinite and omnipresent. Brahman is the eternal God that will be with us forever and everything will be of him. To worship Brahman, these manifestations of God are worshiped to get to Brahman through them. We pray to them because they allow us to connect with God spiritually and we can feel his presence through them. There are many sects of Hinduism but mainly 3. For example, in Vaishnavism, it is believed the Vishnu and his avatars is the eternal God and everything is through him, with him, and he is our Lord. It is believed that his 10 avatars come to earth over a span of the 4 yugs (each yug is an anount of time and as they go on to the next, the world is consumed in more evil and disbelief) until his final avatar comes to at the end times to destroy all evil and that is when the universe is destroyed and reborn. Rebirth is important as we believe in recairnation (everyone is reborn after death but your karma from your life determines the kind of life you are born into for your next life. If in life you attain moskha (which is to be united with God and be a true believer) you will escape this cycle of recarnation and be with God for eternity). In shaivism, Shiva and his avatars are worshiped. etc... BUT in the end, these are all just manifestation of Brahman that are mentioned in the Vedic Scriptures. Hinduism is complex but in the end, we believe that those who have a true relationship with God will be with him in the end.

The depiction of Vishnu lying on a serpent in the universe, known as the cosmic serpent or Shesha-Naga, is a symbolic representation of the balance and harmony that exists in the universe. In Hindu mythology, Shesha-Naga is believed to be a powerful and eternal serpent that supports the universe on its coils.
Vishnu is one of the Trimurti (the three most significant gods in Hinduism) and is revered as the preserver of the universe. His characteristic calmness and serenity show that he is in full control of the universe, even while he sleeps.
The serpent symbolizes the primal energy of the universe, and Vishnu represents the supreme consciousness that controls and balances that energy. Together, they represent the cosmic balance between the active and passive forces of the universe. The depiction also signifies that the universe is an illusion, and it is Vishnu who sustains it through his divine powers.

You raised a point about the iconography of Lord Vishnu. In Hinduism, each person has an essential personality. It is called our svarupa. Each person's svarupa is defined by our relationship to the Supreme Being. Everyone has a unique relationship with the Supreme Being which is embodied in their svarupa. Most people are in a state of ignorance and haven't attained their svarupa. When a person attains self realisation, they attain their svarupa which is then their eternal personality or nature. The Supreme Being on the other hand has infinite svarupas or divine personalities. The form of Lord Vishnu is a symbolic representation of his personality. Each symbol contained within Lord Vishnu's iconography has it's own symbolic meanings. The snake who Lord Vishnu sleeps on the coils of, is called Sheshnaag. Sheshnaag is a servant of Lord Vishnu. His iconographic form is symbolic representation of his svarupa or his inner nature. Snakes symbolise many things in Hinduism. His form as a snake symbolises renewal and the cycle of creation and destruction. His coiled pose symbolises his guardianship and service to Lord Vishnu.
TLDR - the iconographic forms of beings in Hinduism are symbolic representations of their personality or nature.

    Hi guys
Just wanted to tell you that Hinduism or sanathan dharma is not a religion
We do not have a prophet nor do we have a prescribed book or commandments
    We have 4 vedas
200 upanishads and 18 puranas and multiple dharmic texts
These texts are the base to understand sanatan dharma
Traditionally Before a hindu learns his first alphabet we ask him to take up an identity of god within himself "aham brahmasmi " Loosely translates to i am everything or i am the infinite
He is supposed to read the scriptures not identifying himself as a country man or by his skin color or by his human body but as the life inside the human body!
Over time this practice has become symbolic!
So after that the person reads the scriptures to understand god or creation
These books were written by sages who were in deep meditation for 1000s of years
Time is relative here 1000 years for us may be a few moments for them
And if you are a hindu you do not have to believe in these books if you don't want to
There are other methods to know
You are encouraged to question and never believe!
Coming to the multiple gods of hinduism you'll get multiple answers depending on which stream of thought you ask for
Let me try to give you the gist
    There is one god PARABRAHMMA
And there are 333million( might be more) devas
Devas are higher beings who have achieved the essence of god in them through meditation or other spiritual practices and they perform gods work creation maintenance destruction
A human can never attain god directly he has to go through stages over multiple rebirths.
And among the devas there is a hierarchy ( for the lack of a better word) some of the common gods you'll hear in the future in your pursuit would be among the top of the hierarchy !
Also theres a concept of dharma! As there is complete freedom in sanatan dharma and it can be quite erratic and all over the place the concept of dharma steers you towards the right path and its very complicated to explain dharma in detail in a short time so just understand that dharma steers you or rather shows you the right path and your karma(action) will determine whats next for you in your pursuit!

Why does one of the world’s premier research institutes have a statue of Shiva?
Unveiled on June 18, 2004, the two-metre-tall statue was a gift from the Government of India. A plaque next to the statue, with a quote by Fritjof Capra, explains its significance: “Hundreds of years ago, Indian artists created visual images of dancing Shivas in a beautiful series of bronzes. In our time, physicists have used the most advanced technology to portray the patterns of the cosmic dance. The metaphor of the cosmic dance thus unifies ancient mythology, religious art and modern physics.”
Physicist Fritjof Capra's 'The Tao of Physics' explanation
Physicist Fritjof Capra further explained in The Tao of Physics: “The Dance of Shiva symbolises the basis of all existence. At the same time, Shiva reminds us that the manifold forms in the world are not fundamental, but illusory and ever-changing. Modern physics has shown that the rhythm of creation and destruction is not only manifest in the turn of the seasons and in the birth and death of all living creatures, but is also the very essence of inorganic matter."
Physicist Fritjof Capra's 'The Tao of Physics' explanation
"According to quantum field theory, the dance of creation and destruction is the basis of the very existence of matter. Modern physics has thus revealed that every subatomic particle not only performs an energy dance, but also is an energy dance; a pulsating process of creation and destruction. For the modern physicists then, Shiva’s dance is the dance of subatomic matter, the basis of all existence and of all natural phenomena.”
    Aidan Randle-Conde's view
Writing about the statue, Aidan Randle-Conde, a post-doc student working at CERN wrote: “So in the light of day, when CERN is teeming with life, Shiva seems playful, reminding us that the universe is constantly shaking things up, remaking itself and is never static. But by night, when we have more time to contemplate the deeper questions Shiva literally casts a long shadow over our work, a bit like the shadows on Plato’s cave. Shiva reminds me that we still don’t know the answer to one of the biggest questions presented by the universe, and that every time we collide the beams we must take the cosmic balance sheet into account.”
Tandava- Five form of cosmic cycle
The statue captures Shiva performing the Tandava, a dance believed to be the source of the cycle of creation, preservation and destruction. The dance exists in five forms which shows the cosmic cycle from creation to destruction:
    'Srishti' - creation, evolution'Sthiti' - preservation, support'Samhara' - destruction, evolution'Tirobhava' - illusion'Anugraha' - release, emancipation, grace
    Flak on putting statue
CERN has actually gotten some flak for putting up the statue, more so because it has been accused of playing God by conservative Christians, particularly when they identified the Higgs-Boson in 2013, which has been called the God Particle. CERN even went as far as to explain why they decided to put a statue of ‘The Destroyer’. They said that since India was one of the institute's observer states, it represented CERN’s multiculturalism with scientists from across the globe.
Popular scientist Carl Sagan was the one who introduced this idea in the West through his show Cosmos. He had said: "Hindu religion is the only one of the world’s great faiths dedicated to the idea that the cosmos itself undergoes an immense, indeed an infinite number of deaths and rebirths. It is the only religion in which the time scales correspond, no doubt, by accident, to those of modern scientific cosmology. Its cycles run from our ordinary day and night to a day and night of Brahma 8.64 billion years long. Longer than the age of the Earth or the Sun and about half of the time since the Big Bang. And there are much longer time scales still."

2:30 Gods sleeping, why? - The same questions can be asked about Abrahamic Gods "Why create in the first place?", even with the Abrahamic God, there was a time where he wasn't creating humanity or anything for that matter, this could be argued to be God "sleeping", if it's God's will, why question it through a limited human mind?
    .
3:15 "a lot of human imagination has gone into it" - the narrator has already mentioned that the Gods are personifications of the real deal which no-one really knows unless you are with God perhaps. We as Muslims do not believe God can do things that are against his nature. He cannot create someone more powerful than himself and stuff like that.
So we don’t believe Allah/God will ever sleep, he will never be tired. Sleeping is something humans and animals do since they need to “recharge”. Allah/God does not need to recharge.
That’s our view as Muslims, hope that makes sense.

@@MuslimMindsUS Makes sense from a muslim perspective. I don't subscribe to it though. God can do is he please; he can do anything he likes. So, why not create something more powerful than himself, go to sleep, or do something evil? It's because he loves us and doing any of this would be unwise and would result in destruction, misery, and the unraveling of his grand designs for the universe and for us. In fact, he would cease to be God and would instead be some sort of demon.
It's just like I have many options available to me. I can do as I please (within the capability of my human body). But, there are things I won't do (like rob a bank, or commit murder) because these things are evil, would destroy my family, and would bring suffering to myself and others. Worse it would disappoint God, whose creation I am (and I do not desire to disappoint him). Since it is important to love my family, mankind, myself, and God, I will do no such thing. Nevertheless, I could if I wanted. I have that agency. If I have that agency but God does not, then I have capability and agency that he does not. This would make him imperfect, and I cannot accept that.
We are like God, but very imperfect versions. He puts us here to experience joy and suffering (for you cannot appreciate joy if you do not experience suffering: pain, sadness, sorrow, frustration, etc.). He gives us the ability to have children so that we can understand his perspective; that of the ability to create and care for and nurture one's creation. He gives us material with which to discover, build, and edify (and not to divide each other by religion and politically dominate each other through theocracies). This teaches us about creation and learning, which we must do in the great hereafter to approach God. This is just as a child learns from and emulates his father to become an honorable man as well. All things on earth are metaphors for things in heaven. Everything we have and experience here is because it is a similitude of what is in heaven; matter on earth, perfected matter in heaven, imperfect bodies on earth, perfected bodies in heaven, lack of knowledge on earth, full availability of knowledge in heaven. Earth is a training ground for what will be in heaven. We can have it, provided with overcome our animal inclinations and bend them to spiritual will.

@@bathysphere1070 Allah/God in Abrahamic faiths is the all powerful. We believe in God for many reasons, one of them being that he is dependent on nothing and anything that’s in existence is dependent on him since there cannot be an infinite regress.
If you do not believe God is all powerful and needs to sleep or chooses to sleep if he “wants to” and can create something more powerful than himself then I don’t really know what to say. If you don’t subscribe to that then I would say you don’t believe “God” is “God”.
And this isn’t just Muslim view, anyone who believes in God would understand the fact that God is all powerful. I would say it’s illogical to believe that God is not all powerful.

"Brahma/Brahman" is different and "Barhmam" is different. Brahma is a god who is responsible for creating all living beings on earth, heaven and hell, by the order of lord Vishnu. And lord Vishnu is the preserver and also the ultimate and superior Brahmam and he is also the Krishna. Everything comprises in the Brahmam and in everything Brahmam is present. Lord Shiva is the destroyer i.e. he is responsible for clearing all the sins and bad karms of the souls and help those (us) souls to merge with the ultimate Brahmam. And merging with the ultimate Brahmam is not an easy process. To reach and merge with the ultimate Brahmam, a human being should take up all of the following paths with a strong determination and will power to reach the Brahmam i.e. Karma Yoga, Bhakthi Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Raja Yoga. To know about these paths to reach itself is a big challenge as it will be unknown for an ignorant souls. Only good karma saved up from millions of births taken again and again by the soul can help that soul to have the knowledge of the paths to reach the Brahmam and to practice it perfectly. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are the same and one. From Lord Vishnu's naval, a lotus stem came sprouted and lord Brahma born from that lotus. Lord Brahma is the son of Lord Vishnu. And from Lord Brahma's anger, Lord Shiva was born. Lord Shiva is the son of Lord Brahma and grandson of Lord Vishnu. But all the three are the same amd one. There us no two or duo. All you see, feel, hear, taste, speak, and everything is the one and only Brahmam and nothing else. And even the nothing is the Brahmam.
It needs a lot of blessings from lord Vishnu to understamd the reality of us. Muslims, Christians, and other religions couldn't not understand it without lord Vishnu's blessings and grace because even so many Hindus still don't understand it due to their sins and bad karmas.
Being born as a human being without any disability is the first blessing, to be born into Hindusism is the second blessing, to be able to read and understand the mysterious Hindu scriptures is very difficult and it's a great blessing and to practice what is said in the Hindu scriptures is the greatest of the greatest blessing that one can have.

You should be patient and listen to what the video is saying and then raise your questions. AS per You saying, you know nothing about hinduism, so how on earth you are stopping and asking questions like a fool even before the sentence is finished. Hinduism is not a subject that you will understand in a single video and to top it, you are stopping it at every half sentence and are ready with your explanations. It is a not a book which you will read and have to adhere to it whatever it says. Hinduism is a vast concept and it allows you to evolve, understand and take your own decisions and then choose the path. Kindly, don't react like a child and ruin the essence of what the video is trying to explain. At least in hinduism we can question things instead of Islam where raising questions on the commandments means blasphemy and beheading
