Not only carl segan, most prominent scientists talked about Hinduism at least once, they studied it also and some even received profound motivation and ideas from it. Next you should watch a video about Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician, arguably the most talented one who ever lived. His story will leave you in awe, there's even a Hollywood movie made on him called "The Man Who Knew Infinity"

Just think multiverse theory is known to be a modern day science theory... But Hinduism theory was written almost 5000 years ago ... Can you imagine how they wrote about modern day theory 5000 years ago ... Not only those theory in this video there aro more to it that can be considered as modern day theory but that already been described in 5000 yr ago but in a different way of song and story but the logic and theory are the same as today's theory ...

All the evolutionary already discovered in Ancient Indian text but never been into public
And then all the scientist discoverd and then we are remembering and saying ohh...it was already written in our ancient text

While the ancient civilisations did in fact make some pretty good theories, we can't deny that the quantification of science has been done more recently in Europe.
Ancient India may have correctly identified Gravitational force, but it was Newton who quantified it.

In my opinion this channel HinduMonk suffers from "Pridification", so take everything said in this channel with a pinch of salt, when it comes to interpreting ancient Sanskrit text there are lots of wiggle room to makeup whatever you want, and in couple of videos I watched I don't think people running the channel understand the poetic embellishments they read everything literally. Project Shivoham is good channel that looks at Sanskrit texts with nuances and analytically.
And yes, evolution is accepted in Hinduism, search for 10 Avatars of Vishnu and evolution, in a survey out all the religious groups over 80% of Hindus and Buddhist said they believe in evolution.
In Hinduism most information are in story format, like there are stories about time dilation (look up the story of king Kakudmi), multiverse, cloning and so many.

One thing I like about hinduism is that it's very flexible with ideas and in this light I would like to answer does hindusim believe in theory of evolution, you look at the avtars of Vishnu, you would notice a trend.....the first avtar is a marine life and slowly it his avtars transform in terrestrial animal like in nature and then comes proper humans in the shape of Lord Ram and the final avtar Lord Krishna is as latest version of ancient humanised people as it can get....these avatars do depict a story of evolution from marine to proper humam like entities so if one would like he can conclude that hinduism believes in evolution

Okay here's my take on this. Generally all Hindu scriptures, if you can understand sanskrit are written metaphorically. It's really hard to understand all those metaphors now. So we have to interpret whatever they are trying to say to the best of our knowledge. Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva might not even be people like they have been represented as. They could be an idea represented in a human form to make up plebs understand the depth of what they're tryna say.

    Who is God in Hinduism?
Brahman: The ultimate, formless, and infinite reality that is beyond all dualities and distinctions. Brahman is the source and essence of everything in the universe, encompassing all that exists and transcending all forms and concepts.
The Trimurti: The three primary deities-Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver), and Shiva (the destroyer)-are manifestations of different aspects of Brahman. Each represents a fundamental force that sustains the cycle of the universe.
Personal Deities: Hindus may worship various personal forms of God, such as Vishnu, Shiva, Shakti (the Divine Mother), Krishna, Rama, and others. These deities are seen as different aspects or incarnations of the same ultimate reality, Brahman.
    What is God in Hinduism?
Brahman: God is the eternal, unchanging, and formless essence of all things. Brahman is not limited by time, space, or form and is beyond human comprehension. It is the ultimate truth, consciousness, and bliss (Sat-Chit-Ananda).
Saguna Brahman: When God is described with attributes, forms, and qualities, this is known as Saguna Brahman. This includes deities like Vishnu, Shiva, and Shakti, who are worshiped with specific forms and characteristics.
Nirguna Brahman: When God is described as formless and without attributes, it is called Nirguna Brahman. This concept emphasizes that the true nature of God is beyond human description and imagination.
    Where is God in Hinduism?
Omnipresent: God is present everywhere, within every particle of the universe. The idea is that God permeates all of existence and is immanent in all living beings and objects.
Within the Self (Atman): In Hindu philosophy, the Atman (Self) within each individual is considered to be a reflection of Brahman. Therefore, God resides within each person as their innermost essence.
In Temples and Sacred Spaces: Hindus often worship God in temples, which are considered sacred spaces where the divine presence is particularly strong. Statues and images of deities are revered as physical manifestations of God’s energy and presence.

Additional information: ( most of the information/concepts are also transfered in form of stories/ history)
One such incident..........when bhagwan(god) vishnu took his avatar as bhawan krishna on earth ......our bhramha got ingnorant about his knowledge and forgot about this. Plus he also got haulty of his position............few events happened and to check krishnas power he kidnapped bhagwan krishna ' s friends and took them to his realm...........bhagwan krishna knowing this multiplied himself and took form of his friends. After that bharma forgot about this kidnapping (only few mins were passed in his realm) but on earth 6 months got over.
So to see how khrishna was doing/coping in absense of his friends he once again came back to earth to only find that every kid he kidnapped was happly playing along krishna .....shocked he look carefully and realised that he is vishna.......utterly embarrased he fell in krishnas knees asking for forgiveness for his ignorance that he was unable to recognise him.
Bhagwan krishna replied that " wait, i have called bharma"
Confused bharma asked krishna " but i am bhrama "
Krishna smiled and within few minutes thousands of bhrma came and bowed down to him . Seeing this bharma realised that he is not alone and their are multiple bharmas and his might of which he was so proud is nothing in front of bhagwan vishnu.
    Now if you analyse carefully
    1. Time dilation concept was also known to us ....( That time flows differently in different realms)
    2. The multiple bhrama denoted multiple universes also few bhramas have hundreds and few other thousands of head ( depicting that they control a much more larger universe than our brahma ( since ours only has 4 head , although he did had a 5th one but lost it, lets keep that for another time)and their universe ending time will be different from ours
Regarding evolution long story short i can say that bhrama did create humans but not on earth rather at cosmic levels , but they were so spritually advanced that they refused to coopulate 😂.......u can find out further

Basically Hinduism is religious name which was given by British. But actually it is called “Sanathana dharma” it is not a religion it’s a way of life. And there no exact dates of first origin of this but it is believed that it is several thousand years old. because in purans there are every detail about how life formed in the form of aquatic life then slowly evolved on land till date and there are details about what happens in future. Interestingly western scientists are proving now the fact about this ancienttexts.

Let me Explain Age of Bhrama
    1 chandraMass = 30 human Days
    12 ChandraMass = 1 Human Year
1 Human Year = 1 Ahoratra ( 1 full day and night of the deity (Devtas))
    360 Ahoratra = 1 Devta Year
    12000 Devta Year = 1 Chatur Yug(4Yug)
1 Chatur Yug contains Satyug , Treta Yug , Dwapar Yug , Kal Yug = all these 4 yugs = 43,20,000 (human Years)
    satyug = 17,28,000
    treta Yug = 12,96,000
    Dwapar Yug = 8,64,000
    kal yug = 4,32,000
    71 chatur Yug = 1 Manwantar
every Manwantar has new Indra Dev(King of all other deity (Devtas)) , New Manu , New Devtas , New saptarishi (7 rishis) their names are---> ( Agastya, Atri, Bhardwaja, Gautama, Jamadagni, Vashistha, and Vishvamitra)
    14 Manwantar = 1 Kalp ( Bhramas 1 Days not Night)
between 14 manwantar there is 15 sandhikalas in a kalp ( earth is immersd in garbodhak sagar(cosmic ocean) )
    1 sandhikalas = satyug 17,28,000 //// 15 sandhikalas = 30,67,20,000
    14 manwantar * 15 sandhikal = 14 * 30,67,20,000
    1 kalp = 4,32,00,00,000 ( 4 Arab 32 crore) human years = Bhrams 1 day
    Bhrams Night + Bhramas Day = 8,64,00,00,000 ( 8 Arab 64 crore ) human years
    30 Bhrams Days = 1 Bhramas Month
    12 Bhramas Month = 1 Bhramas Year
    1 Bhrams lives 100 years
100 years of bhrama = Mahakalp
    our Bhrama is 51 years
current kalp = 1st (we are living here)
previous kalp is denoted as "padam kalp"
present kalp is denoted as "shveta-varah kalp"
current Manwantar = 7th (vaivast manwantar)
currently we are living in 7th Manwantar of preasent Kalp
current Manu name is "Vaivast Manu"
Current indra name = Purandar indra
currently 27 chatur yug passed out of 71 chatur yug
and we are currently in 28th chaturyug
    current yug = kal yug
    remanining year = 4,26,879

There is some mess in calculation that doesn't line up with the yugas. If Mahabharat and Ramayana has to happen in the time frame it was said to be in their respective yugas then its very clear it cannot be so. All the timeframes provided by them and discoveries speak a different tone. There is huge mess in terms of the Yuga calculation and how it works. While I know Hinduism is great, however it has alot of its knowledge cut off and its transmission halted due to frequent invasions and colonial bullshit. I am not really questioning all of the data, rather just Unit of Yuga , it doesn't align. people have often messed with Yuga calculation...they put just about whatever number to it, some say million, some say 1000...some dont even believe its cyclical. There is a huge confusion about this.

@09:42 Hinduism doesn't have "beliefs". We don't believe in anything, per se. At least in the western sense of the words "faith", "belief" or ", religion", and these exact concepts (in western sense) don't exist in Hinduism.
The ancient saints, Rishis, sages have had divine vision of different aspects of the universe through their years of deep meditation l, and through that yogic practice the knowledge is revealed to them,
And they've passed on this knowledge to future generations through a oral tradition of guru-sishya parampara (teacher-disciple lineage). Later they compiled these knowledge in the form of written text people's concentration and retention skills come down as time goes by.
Those are the ones we call "shastras" or roughly translated "scriptures".
Some of the shstras are critics of the previous ones, some of them are deeper philosophical analysis and treatise of what's been passed down to them, some of them like the itihasas are "historical accounts" , etc etc..
There are few shastras which contradict few other shastras because of the mental framework, thought process in which they are derived. It's more like scientific publications.
But the eligibility is not just reading few texts or understanding them, but practically experiencing that wisdom through different yogic practices, and not many can actually achieve that stage, especially in current day world (Kali Yuga).
Still there are many modern visionaries who achieved highest stages of spiritual advancement through yogic practices, like Maharshi Ramana, Vivekananda, Srila Prabhupada, Paramhansa yogananda, etc...
While there are more examples in mediaeval age who reached that stage, like Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, Madhwacharya, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Nibarkaacharya, etc...
Everyone has written their own experiencial interpretation of the absolute truth through their deep yogic practices (meditation, pranayama, samadhi etc), and even though on surface level every interpretation seems different from one another, everything is still grounded on the basic principles, framework set forth by the original Vedas, which is every interesting.
If God/ishwara is one and every living being is unique and different with different proclivities and inclinations,
Then who won't God/ishwara can assume different form for each living being to match their original relationship with God/ishwara. Inspite of all that, God/ishwara is absolute truth and is not relativistic to anything else that we see.
We as modern Hindus who are spiritually inclined go to gurus (authentic ones in a authentic parampara) for guidance and understanding, of these texts so that we can implement the principles and practice the divine knowledge through our lives, to achieve our main goal liberation (Moksha) from this birth and death cycle, through different practices mentioned in the texts.
And the different stages a practitioner goes through as they practice and go deep into a specific path of a practice is clearly mentioned in the text, and as long as one is seeing those indicators in themselves their behaviour, their psychie, they'll experiencially know if they are on the right path.
And this is very often observed with serious practitioners who follow some practice.
But that said, majority of Hindus follow Dharma (righteousness), Artha (earning/sustainance), Kama (fulfilling ethically good desires (roughly translated)), but most of the Hindus don't strive for the "Moksha" liberation part, which is a symptom of Kali Yuga, this age, where people become more materialistic.
But still going to temples, performing rituals, following festivals, praying, worshipping, having a regular interaction with God is something recommended in Hinduism where of you keep God at centre and do your duty, that itself will elevate you and eventually in next life you'll be more spiritually inclined. So, there is also a provision for those who want to be materialistic.
Hinduism is all about "no one fit for all" but it "has something for everyone"..
As the ancient sages knew that all the people are not same and different recommendations, prescriptions of practice were given for people in different stages of their spiritual advancement ranging from an nastik (kind of aethist), agnostic, aethistic philanthropist, materialistic people, people with faith but are still materialistic, non-materialistic spiritually inclined people with few vaasanas (material desires), fully spiritual mindset people with minimal material desires, people with spiritual mindset and altruistic thoughts, to spiritual mindset people with equivision on everything and everyone.
So, it's not that Hinduism has any specific beliefs. It's all about what stage we are in and how much we can practice within our limited scope of life, and become better.
Coming to evolution, I don't think evolution is specifically mentioned in Hinduism but as a science student, i myself am agnostic about the "theory of evolution" there are "way too many leaping to conclusions", "way too many gaps and lack of evidence for even the basic premise of the species change through evolution".
I believe evolution is true in the sense of "survival of the fittest ", adaptation". But no where did we see species changing from one genome to another.
The theory of hypothetical "intermediate species" bridging between the two stable species during species change are never proved but accepted as a fact, when those intermediate species themselves are unstable to live and successfully survive for hundreds of generations before they "evolve" into a stable species.
Evolution (specifically species change) is as much on unsteady based as any conspiracy theory.
But that doesn't mean part of thaty be correct or a new better theory can come in the future.
The fossils give a broad story and evolution theory fits to that story but never fully explains it without "trust me bro" kinda explanation for it's fundamental assumptions in which the entire theory and conclusion is derived from.
But there can be a different theory that can explain the fossil story with better evidential grounding.
Anyway there is no hard mention of evidence in Hinduism, except a reference saying
"life started in water" in Rig veda.
And evolution itself may be incorrect so it's better to take evolution theory with a grain of salt

Your knowledge of modern day science is lacking quite a bit:
    1. THe universe is assumed to be 13.7 or so billion years old.
    2. The earth is estimated to be around 4.32 billion years old.
    3. The dinosaurs went extinct at the end of the late Cretacious period around 65 million years ago, the one referred here is the Permian extinction event.
    4. The universe is estimated to live a certain age based on thermodynamic principles and quantum mechanics. For eg it is theorized the last black holes too will evaporate due to emission of Hawking Radiation and the estimates for the time to the Big Freeze or the Big Crunch is around 10^33 to 10^99 years.
    5. As we progress through time more and more light from distant stars and galaxy reach us, hence our range of the observable universe increases every year. So when we say the age of the universe is 13.7 billion years we mean the age of the observable universe is 13.7 billions because we can see light that is 13.7 billion years old and the distance of about 90 billion light years adjusted for the expansion of space. This means that the universe might be much larger and older than we know or can see.
THe calculations mentioned here all seem legit. OOOMMM - the sound of the universe

This Yuga cycle is not Accurate actually the Purana's we have currently has corrupted data for Yuga cycles as people have written and Re-writen these texts again and again over thousands of years due to this Yuga cycle changed from 43,200 Years cycle to a Cycle of 4.32 Million Years and these figures are just exaggerated and then the person is in the video is just trying to align these numbers with modern estimates.
    1 Chatura Yuga = 43,200 years
    71.428 chatura Yuga = 1 Manvantara.
    14 Manvantara(day)+14 Manvantara(night) = 1 Full Day of Brahma = 86.4 Million Years.
    360 Days = 31.104 Billion Years.
    100 Years = 3.1104 Trillion Years.
100 Years is Total Age of Brahma or Total Age of Universe(Big Bang to Big Crunch or End of Universe)
Currently the Present age of Universe is : 13.8 Billion Years.
Ancient Indians figured out the Present age of Universe at around 13.6 Billion years they did a very simple assumption let's assume that whatever the Current age of Universe is let's compress it within 1 year so what will be the 1 second of the Universe if they can calculate 1 second of the Universe they can calculate the present age of the Universe but this requires them to find out certain cycle which is aligned with the Universe so they did another assumption that since Time is Cyclic which means like Earth travel around sun that is referred to as 1 year so there must be some other longer cycles of Earth and soon they figured out one of those cycle which was Precession of Equinox on the basis of which Zodiac signs were also Invented it is 25,920 years cycle, next they found another thing that is the shape of orbit of Earth around sun whether it is circular or in what shape and found it to be elliptical which gave them sense that earth remains at different distances from sun during winter and summer so the eccentricity value they got after calculating maximum earth to sun distance and minimum earth to sun distance was = 0.01671
This is the orbital eccentricity of Earth which is basically 1/60 to be approximate so basically earth's orbit around sun differs by 1/60th part from being a complete circle so they decided that each of the 1/60th part of Eccentricity in relation to Precession of Equinox represent the One second of Universe or 25,920 Years × 1/60 = 432 Years, so this was the final result which is one second of current age of Universe compressed in a Year in cyclic form. Likewise the present age of Universe is : 432×60 seconds ×60 minutes ×24 hours ×365.25 Days = 13.68 Billion Years, so the Present age of Universe was found in this manner.
Similarly there are other complexities also for calculating Total age of Universe.
