    Nice job. You have a talent for instructional videos - well organized, detailed, and with pleasant voice. I hope you make more videos because I have the same truck. This video helped me remove and clean out my instrument panel. Two of the three top plastic holes on the top of the bezel also broke on my truck! I'm trying some JB Weld to make new supports. Well, I'll see. Also, btw, I found an easy mod for adding a toggle to switch off the annoying door chime when working on/cleaning your truck. Lmk if you don't know it yet. Thanks again for posting. It helped a lot.

      Thank you! I’ll get better with more videos. Was a little nervous watching back this vid haha.
      Glad I was able to help!! Let me know if the JB weld works. And that might be a video on its own to remove the chime! I don’t know how to remove the chime

      @@Poolboybob The nice thing about this mod is that you don't have to remove the chime; just add a switch, and then you can turn it off when you're doing something with your door open. I like the chime to work other times because it keeps me from locking my keys in. It's really easy to do. I will throw together a quick video for you, and then, if you like the idea, you can make a much better video for your people. You've got at least 37, I see ;-)

      @@tayler2396 sick! I’m looking forward to this video! Since I have a quick release steering wheel on my ranger, we had to cut a lot of the wires off so the chime only works when the key is turned, so I always forget them in the ignition, especially because my power door locks stopped working. Lol. Thanks my man!

    So I’m wanting to do the same thing except all red for my Gauge cluster since my truck is red. Mines a 2002 4.0 xlt same dash and everything obviously. So I just need 6 of the red ‘194-RHP5’s???

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep the only difference in the whole process would be buying all red LEDs. Did this on my buddies red ranger and it turned out phenomenal! But the red doesn’t dim as much as the other colors so keep that in mind. It never bothered me when driving though

  • @F.J._Claes
    @F.J._Claes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I replaced mine with new led bulbs. The problem is for some reason one of the new led bulbs seems to go off every now and then. It stays off for some time and then it comes on again all by itself.

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re willing to give it a shot, I’d try swapping that LED with another one from the cluster and see if what happens. I recently started having an issue with one of my blue LEDs that flickers. For some reason it doesn’t do it when I dim the lights so I just keep ‘em constantly dimmed and haven’t bothered replacing it haha

    • @TTime685
      @TTime685 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Poolboybobcause you bought those cheap ass leds lol.. Flickering is due to excess heat damage over time. Next time don't cheap out ;) They make regular incandescent colored bulbs too

    How many lights does the ranger need?

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d order 6 to be safe. Heard some can have 5.

  • @weisskingtrouble
    @weisskingtrouble 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you think this process would be roughly the same on the 93-94 faceplates considering its a different style?

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t be able to say yes or no unfortunately. But I do believe I read something that rangers old enough have clear faceplates and green lights so you can just swap the color of the lights. I don’t know exactly what years that is tho

    • @bucksinsix2591
      @bucksinsix2591 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did it on my 94 and it works but only has one spot for the white bulb and 2 spots for the other colors so the white blends a bit - also comes through a bit green - still a good look

    Is it hard to make the speedometer calibration accurate after taking off the needle?

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It just takes some patience and good taping. It’s real easy to slightly twist the needle when putting it back on so just try to line it up as well as possible. It turned out really good on this ranger so I have hope you could do the same

    • @2H2521

      @@Poolboybob Thanks for the help, man. I actually already installed LED’s on my cluster, but now I bought another cluster off an ‘03 Ranger that has really cool silver gauges & that actually has a tachometer which I had been wanting. I need to take the speedo needle off to get to the odometer mileage & then swap out one with the other for the original mileage of my truck. I hope it’s not too difficult as you said, I’m not sure if I trust myself to do it.

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@2H2521 you got it man! Just think about the best way to do it, meaning having the key off, key on, or have the truck running. Some needles sit on little pins that are pushed into the face of the cluster that might need to be removed to get the most accurate position. Best of luck to yah!

    When changing incandescent to LED does it affect the dimmer switch to dim it up or down?

    • @Poolboybob
      @Poolboybob  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah! So, the red is the one color that doesn’t dim very well. The rest of the colors dim very well for night driving. And the red doesn’t bother me at night either
